The port area of each side is way to big. If your going to build it as 2 separate chambers, like your first photo, just design one side and build the other the same. Dont try and design for the entire area, it will just get confusing. Your port length is measured from the face of the port opening to the end of the opening on the inside measured down the center of the port. Also the port should remain the same width all the way thru.

I see that you say not to use these under the hood, probably because of heat. In my minitruck all my batteries are in the bed. Would it be ok to use these as the only battery source for the vehicle. Would probably have 3-4 of them back there.

The Porter Cable is a bad ass router. Provisional grade fit and finish. Thats on my list of new tools that I want. I also have 2 Ryobi routers that have served me well for the past few years.

just do some bracing a guy over here does 160's with 1 layer 3/4 wood for his box except the front plate thats like 4 inches tho
Right on.
Properly glued joints and good bracing is all you need. Doubling up everything just adds weight and takes up more space.

I believe its 13.25 per net which is just fine. It may not be optimum for getting as much SPL as possible but it will sound good. I would suggest that you try and make the port as square as possible instead of a long narrow port but with a wall in that space it may be difficult.

I have been watching SOHO vids on and off for years. That is one hell of a CME. Its not very often you see them blast straight at the camera like that. Impressive for sure.

I would be shooting for a box around 8 cubes net tuned around 36hz if it was for me. Anywhere around 14-16 sq in of port per net cube would be fine. If you trying to get more SPL a larger port will help but I think it would sound better around 14 sq in per net.

I just read your other thread and here is what I would suggest. Keep the L7's, build a proper box with the proper port and take the 300 you would have spent on the DC sub and buy a good 1ohm stable amp. You are only scratching the potential of those L7's with your setup. That setup has to be leaking some crazy air with the cracked up pieces of 1x screwed to the front of that box and that port is wayyyyyy to small for those subs.

I have an 04 XB. Its a tank. Most reliable vehicle I have next to my 2004 Silverado. I love that lunch box.

That would work but personally I would lower the port area and shrink the box to the recommended volume. For DC's I use recommended area or a tad smaller depending on power. As for port area i would lower it to the 14-16 inch range. Especially if its more for listening enjoyment than spl numbers on a mic. Dont make the port any skinnier either, reduce the width.
That will give you little more room in the vehicle too. The smaller port area will shorten the port length and reduce the gross volume even more.
Yea, check the number of common port walls and im assuming your going to brace this in a few places inside. Add your bracing displacement also.

80 or "eighty" is the mega shock gif and the link to the image is broken.

I think the Level 6's are a lot more musical. They both seem to hit as hard as the other. I was in 2 different vehicles with different setups so take that into consideration. I would put the Level 6 up as a nasty daily ground pounding sub. The Neo as a close runner up in that category but with more SPL potential. And a hell of a lot lighter.

Anyone that dosent like this contest can do what I did. Just go buy your own Second Skin products. Thats what I did.
In my opinion there are a few people that shouldnt even be included in the running. Its about repping the product, not needing the product for your build. Nick and a few others in this thread are all about repping car audio in general. Put in a lot of hours planning and building and countless hours at shows doing their thing and showing off products. Thats what this is really all about.

Is Street Metal the site I just found with all the air ride and sheet metal parts. Nice site if its yours.

Thanks for the tips guys. Sort of why I drove it home and parked it. I have been cleaning and gutting the thing slowly since I bought it. Been gathering up parts to do some of the changes coming to the truck. If things slow down for me I will get a chance to go over the whole setup. I have a dual 480 kit and an 8 gallon 8 outlet tank on my list of stuff to get. Thats actually the next 2 things im buying, hopefully next week.
I just picked up my alarm and headunit today so I can start getting all my electric straight and start mocking up my dash. After going thru your build again Gary Im starting to see how all the small details add up to quite a big monster. Will be fun going over all of it and learning as I go. Probably the best way to learn, tearing it apart and putting it back together. I have a good friend helping me out thats a great mechanic so im not completely blind lol.

I didn't have enough room to stack 2 18s if I wanted... UNLESS I slid the seats up further and brought the baffle out farther and off the back seat hump... I could do 4 15s like Boyd with an aero or make it so that the baffles angle in some sorta like a clam... Wait... I'm getting too many ideas lol
I would 4 -15 that bitch in a minute. Would be awesome.

Thanks Hobby im finally trying to build something that will get loud
Everyone knows walls dont get loud...
Im about to have a sort of a wall soon.
Still wondering how i will be classified. Probably wall.

With your port on top Nate I could see that being hard to do 4 subs. There should be plenty of room in a Caddy. Just need to bust out the tape and start measuring.
-
Are you just pulling the seat and trying to keep this all in the trunk? Or tearing the back seat out and doing a full wall setup in the back of the cabin. Using the whole cabin you should easily have room for 4 15's.

I have a craftsman I scored cheap on craigslist that's never let me down
This.
I have a Craftsman table saw I bought from craigslist a few years back. Full cast table and a decent fence. Belt driven saw instead of a direct drive. I paid 100.00 for it. Great saw for the money.

Your gonna have a hell of a hard time fitting 4 15's back there. Just looking at the box you have now, you will need almost 1 more cubic foot to use 3 15's. Then look for another 4 cubic feet for the 4th sub and port area. Your either going to have to build over the wheel wells, make it deeper or make it taller.
I would just stick with the 18's and keep doing anything that will raise the voltage to the amp and keep it up as long as possible.
I hate liars
