I think I remember telling someone this a few days ago

Thats a lot of port area too. Ever consider shrinking it down to 16 per cube and seeing if there is a difference. Easy to do and dont need a new box to do it. I would seal that deck off for sure. Helped a lot in our Mazda.
-
How big and what was the port area for the other boxes? Is your rear deck sealed as well as around the box? That area should be sealed as tightly as you can get it if your going this route.
That port area is BIG but I agree with you tuning up around 40hz like DD recommends.

I got my aluminum from here. All Metals Online
I purchased some 3/8ths bar and angle stock from them for my bars. Very reasonable prices and shipping. They also shipped my items to me pretty quickly.
Heres a pict of what I made for my setup. Ordered a 24" piece of 3/8 x 2 x 2 angle stock, cut it in half, ripped and inch off of one side and tapped it out for my connections.

Man I need more/ better subs and more POWER! Def had a good time though.

Rob and I threw the amp in sat morning at the show!!!!LOL!!!
Your jeep rocked for sure. Pulling a 153 in a soft top was amazing to watch. Sounds good doing it too.

That box for the R i posted above is to Alpine spec except for the port. Damn Type R's are so deep it isnt funny. 4 10's sealed should get plenty loud and sound good too.

What rims are they Dozier. Those things look nice on there. Love that wide lip.
-
I used a piece of 4" PVC for the port and a roundover to smooth out both ends. Sucks about the tools. You will probably have a very hard time porting 4 10" subs under that seat and not raising it up a few inches. I guess it depends on the specs of the subs you want to use too.
-
That seat is raised up a few inches for sure. You could just raise yours up an inch and fit those subs. It would still attach to the back wall in the clips Im pretty sure.
-
I said in my first post that I wedged the woofer between the seat and carpet. It was tight. That was just a 10 also. I would like to see some pics of your setup you did with the Alpine 10. I was thinking of using those also.
The front is 2 layers of MDF. I used a belt sander to shape the curve then finished it up by hand with a sanding block.
-
If I remember right I had about 11 inches in the front, no carpet. You ought to get the sub and set it in position and see if it will fit top to bottom. You dont really need a ring for the front. Just build the box and use a router to cut out the face leaving a thin 1/2 in lip on the top and bottom using the top and bottom as part of your baffle. Hope that makes sense.

Ok, so i am looking for ideas on building a box from MDF and fiberglass to go under the seat of my extended cab 04 Silverado. I want to go with 4-10's. Not positive on what brand yet. I am thinking Powerbass because I get them wholesale. Anyways, I held one up to the rear seat between the carpet and the bottom of the seat, and the ring hits the bottom of the seat and the floor. Basically I can wedge the woofer between the seat and floor. So that obviously won't work as far as basic box design goes. The only way to get it to where it fires forward will be if I raise the seat up about an inch, or cut the carpet out. I am not doing that either. So I figure maybe I can put the woofer on a 45 degree down fire style setup to make clearance. I am thinking of taking a mold of the back of the under side of the seat and cab to get as much air space as possible and then attaching a flush plain of MDF to the front and top with the woofers on it. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please throw them out. The goal is to get 4-10's under the seat. I haven't seen it done before, so I want to be different.
You can probably do it if you use a sealed enclosure. I did a ported box for a 10" Type R under my bench in a 2004 Silverado. My sub was firing up with the port firing forward. It was fiberglass, moulded to the floor with the sides and top MDF. It took up almost half the available area. Box went about 2" onto the hump.
I would go for fiberglassing/moulding the floor and do what your were saying. Angling the front baffle so you dont have to raise the seat. Should work unless the magnet is so wide it hits the top of the enclosure. Only problem I see is you will loose volume doing this. Your going to have to tuck the bottom in a few inches to get that angle.
I liked the way my box sounded firing up with the seat up or down. Used a double baffle on the top and recessed the sub to keep it off the seat bottom. People sat in the seat all the time with the sub playing no problem.

Pretty sure the first one is in one of Decaf's first 2 zips.

Rob's a good guy for sure. Hooked me up proper with the setup for my truck. I can run my system at idle now and bang on it all day with little voltage drop at all. I havent seen 13 volts since I installed the beasts.

Not yet
Havent left the house. But I know I will be speeding and probably use the cellphone while driving. Slow roll thru stop signs....probably.
I substitute deliver for a paper route some nights. The normal driving pattern includes speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road, running stop signs and a blatant disregard for most rules of the road. Its very early in the morning and Im lucky to see 4-5 cars while driving for 3 hours. Its actually pretty fun.

Heres a link for a free album download from Slightly Stoopid.

I'll see you at Carslile on Sunday sometime to check out the new setup. Looks like you've been busy and having a lot of fun lately.
