Do i turn "loud" off??
And turn down the gains a little?
And what causes noise like the one im hearing..
-
alpine CDA-9886
I do have the "Loud" feature turned on on the head unit..
The bass is +1 out of 6
The treble is +4 out of 6
Sub is +10 out of 15
Like i said.. i have each channel on my amp tuned using this guide and a multimeter
http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...?showtopic=4382
What do i do?
-
The amp has never gone into protect mode... as far as i know.
Kinda worries me though, i have had a few quirks with the DAT amp so far...
Can you look at a Voice coil and tell if it is burnt?
And what should i do to prevent any further damage.....
This is lame, lol. I know i have the amp tuned correct because i DID NOT want to blow any speakers... I guess that doesnt matter...
Another thing to note... i have some engine noise.. (a high pitched whining) coming from the 6x9's.. it is RPM dependent... Its only during acceleration though.. cruising it goes away..
So.. what do i do... im kinda just at a blank to what i am supposed to do now...
-
im assuming this is bad for the 6x9's???.... lol
What can i do?
I know the kappas are rated at 2ohm.. but i have heard that is just infinties way of advertising them better than they actually are..
Should i set the gains as if they were 4ohm instead of 2ohm?
All i can really do is turn the gain down right?
-
infinity kappa 6x9's
Rockford Fosgate power 6.5" components in the door..
Powered by a DAT 4125
I have the amp tuned correctly for each set of speakers using a multimeter..
When i turn it up it just smells funny... kinda like an electrical smell..
I do have my 10" infinity kappa in a sealed box.. so i dont think its that.
One time i opened my trunk and saw a littrle bit of white smoke...
What should i be looking for so i dont damage anything...
-
Okay, well i finally got out there this morning..
Removed the pioneer amp and infinity sub and capacitor..
replaced the 4gauge wire from the dist blocks to the DAT with 8gauge wire.
Cleaned up allot of the connections so there was no chance of wires touching..
Still diddnt work.....
Figured i would pull the fuses, one came out normal... i pulled the other one out, and first the plastic came off the metal..
Then the rest of the fuse came out in 4 pieces..
Apparently it was just a faulty fuse, but its all fixed now =]. I will put the sub back in when i get all the filters set the way i want them, will prob just make things easier.
But once again EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!... called them at 11:30 Cali time, 2:30 my time.. David was quick to answer all my questions for me
Thanks for everything guys!
now my only problem is that i bought ten feet of 4gauge i have no use for.. and i need more 8 gauge.. haha.
-
Im gonna work on it tomorrow, already gave DAT a call.. EXCELLENT customer service btw!
Im sure i will get everything worked out.
-
0g wire from battery to distribution block in the trunk (200amp fuse)
0g wire from good ground to the trunk
4g wire from the positive and negative dist. blocks to the DAT 4125..
4g wire from the positive and negative dist. blocks to the capacitor, then 8g wire from the capacitor to the pioneer amp..
16g wire from the DAT to the front speakers and the rear speakers
12g wire from the pioneer amp to the infinity sub
And i have the remote wire coming from the Alpine 9886, and it splits off into each amp.
For all i know something is crossed or disconnected.. i tried to avoid it.. but $%^t happens..
But yeah.. that basically sums it up, haha
-
Got the amp in (DAT 4125), got it all wired... tested it... it worked great!!!
Set the gains using the sticky in the amplifier section here on the forum..
Worked even better!!!!!
Decided to put my old pioneer sub amp, infinity sub, and lanzar capacitor into the mix..
All worked great!
Till i started the car...
I heard a pop noise come from all my speakers... and now only the sub is working...????!?!?!?!?!????
WTF do i do now???????
What should i check?
Please just give me things to look at tomorrow morning.. anyone...
Its been a long long long day... and im not dealing with it tonight, im just going to bed, lol.
Thanks for any help guys.. im freaking out thinking i killed all my speakers in ten minutes...
-
If i can figure out how to wire them.. i will be sure to write a full review, haha
-
Just had a quick question, and i didn't wanna start a whole new topic.
My front speakers are Components.
On the crossover there are 4 inputs... How do i wire this coming from the amp?
-
Im glad to say i got a DAT 4125 on the way.. ordered it like yesterday.
Im excited, and im kinda nervous at the same time... lol.
All i know is my gains will be down as low as possible, and i will not be using the "loud" function on the headunit..
Any other pointers from the guys at DAT?
I dont feel like blowing any speakers right away... lol
-
It looks like a very good amp, i did shoot you an email as well as a message on this forum.
My only question is, Wouldnt i be overpowering my 2ohm infinities in the rear?
-
Diablo audio 125.4
End thread.
And it sounds great
You'll be happy with it
Last 4ch you will need for a while
And I hear they might be having a sale
For smd soon......
After doing a quick search via google... i quickly found i could not buy one from anywhere...
Where can i get one and how much is it going to cost me..
I was really trying to stay under 200...
-
buy a larger amp and turn the gain down more for the rear speakers
Sooo... would something like this be a good match?

Okay so i got all my stuff installed in my car.
Headunit is an alpine CDA-9886
Rear 6x9's are the Infinity Kappa 693.9i
They are dual 2 OHM with a max of 110w RMS
The front doors i have a set of Rockford Fosgate T162S
They are 4ohm with a 100w RMS max..
I need a 4 channel amp that will power them both.
Please give me some suggestions.
I was thinking this one..
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ence+475a.html
But then i would be overpowering the Infinities, and not taking full advantage of the Rockfords
Using either sonicelectronix.com or onlinecarstereo.com
Thanks for the help guys!
-
so i do not need to run them in series.... lol??
This $hit confuses me...
So is it possible for me to get a 4 channel amp to run both the front and the rears?
Or am i forced to get two 2 channel amps.. as well as 1 sub amp when i get a sub?
-
i will be getting a 4 channel amp to power everything in about a month, can you guys recommend the right amp for me?
-
Well i purchased a Alpine CDA-9886 Headunit, and i also purchased a set of Infinity 693.9i 6x9's for the back of my car..
HU link:

6x9 link:
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=19664
The speakers are Dual 2 ohm.. how would i wire them to this headunit? (im assuming the headunit puts out 4ohm signals?)
In a series.. or what? Im confused... lol
Does each speaker have two positive and negative hookups? Is it like a Dual Voice Coil Sub?
For the front doors i ordered a set of Rockford Fosgate T162S Component Speakers
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/.....&RowIndex=2
I will be running those off the deck for now too...
So yeah.... im confused.
Is it just a plug and play kinda thing, or do i need to switch wires around?
I will be getting an amp in about a month to power everything properly, but for now i need to know how to hook it up via the headunit. I would hate to damage, or even blow, something because i wired it wrong..
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
-
what are you trying to accomplish with your system?
I want it to be loud, but yet affordable, and sound pretty good at the same time.
I think im on the right track so far.
-
So i just bought myself a beautiful 2002 Olds Aurora
Pics here = 02 Aurora
I already bought an Alpine CDA-9886
I ordered a set of Infinity Kappa 693.9i
Plan on getting a pair of these beasts soon Rockford Fosgate T162S
What amplifier should i get to power them all???
And does it look like a decent set up to you guys?
Keep in mind im just a kid who is not exactly loaded, haha.
Eventually i plan on getting either one 15" sub, or two 12's, and a seperate amp to power them..
But for not im just focusing on everything except the sub/subs.
Any input would be great =]
Funny smell when turned up...

When i tuned the amp i did turn loud off. and i had treble/sub/bass at zero..
Now should i just turn "loud" off, or do i need to turn loud off and set all the settings back to zero?
And for tuning i used 50hz for sub amp, and 1khz for the DAT amp
