  1. Hmm, I have heard this in the past, Still needing that wall but wondering weather 8cuft is going to be too large for the 2 woofers. I have no rear seats anymore therefore wanting to try the wall. I will use these woofers in my new car someday in a boot only install.

Any ideas if people have used 2 lvl3s in a wall before, as i have seen 4 12's but never 2 15's

  2. 4cuft each enclosure tuned to 33hz ( But it did not seem right ever since i built the enclosure, first one someone else designed for me and I built) Im thinking of possibly making the port interchangeable for the wall, the 2 15s behind each seat and the port around head height in the center.

Hopefully enough to hit the 150 this time, I got 148.x with the old setup with only 1.2k rms.

  3. Ah nice, Its just when I was running from a d2400 they seemed to get a little smelly (But i think this was a combo of low voltage and incorrect enclosure) The old one hit the 40s HARD, but anything below was no way near as loud, And the excursion was very irratic and excursion did not seem right..

Im thinking of 8cuft + wall with about 2.5 - 3k. Its got to be done, I need that hairtrick and flex !

I do love these lvl3 beasts, I cant bare to see them under my bed doing nothing any longer !

  4. Hello all. Well, its time to upgrade my install, and a wall is in order (It was going to happen some time!) So looking at a new amp to power my 2 lvl3 15's. Im looking at a true 2k+ amp (As i want to take volt drop into consideration lowering the rms) But just wanted to know, Whats the max people are feeding these? Im pretty sure i took a look a while back and someone was feeding them 1.5 or 2k EACH, I could not believe it?

Im considering upgrading some day (Money permitting) But I have heard the lvl4's and i thought they dropped lower (Possibly due to the tuning on my old box being a little higher) So looking at tuning a little lower this time..

Any ideas / discussion much appreciated !

    Thanks all

  5. Yeah that was a 148.x (.6 iirc) on the TL in dash posision. Sounds great on music too for ONLY 1.2k its got some very good scores so far. Looking at going 120a alt soon (real pain to fabricate / fit alts on these cars) so will hopefully see a few more db.

Roof needs a second deaden and doors tightened to stop some flex.

Thanks for the comments people, watch this space - 150+ on music soon ;)

  6. Thanks guys, will try and get another video tomorrow. Having a few bugs to iron out with the system, up loud the woofers almost seem to "invert" phase, (can be seen when on test tones) regardless of the phase on the amp being set. Ive reversed the phase and daaaaaaaaaaamn does it hit hard.

Will shoot a vid tomorrow that you will all like ;)

Overall - GLAD, very glad I chose DC audio .. Period !

They do seem to get pretty warm at times - Sometimes get a little bit of a smell but nothing major - I just let them cool down for a bit.

Just need to get that alt issue sorted out

  7. Thanks for the great review!! Got some more pics? Thats a great number on the epic 150 and wait to see the TL numbers :hairtrick:

Thats cool Rusty, You deserve it from putting the time & effort into designing, and im sure to say, most probably making your dream come true which I congradulate you on.

As and when I have some time off of work, Ill try and get a written review up on the go with some figures to prove differences.

The car is completely deadened, and they still make jello of my car! I need to upgrade the alt, as today after 30mins of booming, voltage dropped below 12v which I want to keep it a constant 14.4 - 13.8v to go with a nice new 2k amp to power them.

After a lot of requests, I have made a video - Keeping in mind these are still not fully loosened nor on full power! Didnt get a lot of wiper flex like before, as the motor bolts have vibrated loose again !

    Enjoy folks!

  8. Hello all. Im from the Uk and used to run a HCCA 12.2 with all the works etc. It took me a long time to get convinced to change, as I wanted to get louder and have a better sq. I was finally persueded to go for DC sound labs woofers so I worked my ass off for a good few months, after a long time of waiting and saving, I finally got them around a month or 2 back.... Well What can i say? They take 1.2k with ease, and I think they are very under rated. I can see why lvl 4's and 5's are used in USA in the larger car installs, but damn what a sound. SQ is unreal and they hit 90% of the frequency range (tuned to 33hz) that I wanted them to, and they drop very well (not as low as the hcca, but still need to go with a new alt, 2k amp and get the woofers loosened up a little)

Build quality is second to none, looks are fantastic, probably the best purchase I have made in a long time and Im very happy to have the DC brand aboard my car.

Rusty, You really have hit the nail on the head with these woofers, Build quality, service, and looks wise are brilliant.... congradulations buddy!

They do get a little warm after some hard playing, but looking forward to them being 100% warn in and get some scores. Heres what I hit the other day:

Popped up with a 156 on the meter today, so will get some termlab scores in a week or 2!

Will get some videos at some point this week !

  9. Haha, i would not mind that voltage ;) That was with the car off and dead battery upfront, usually floats around 12.4-12.6v and when car is running 14.2v. The amps heatsink is underneath the cover (around a 8mm gap all the way round the heatsink fins) with the suede and has loads of air flow, in the time of owning the amp I have never felt it get warm let alone hot so ill keep an eye on it.

Off today to get the hubs and a new battery, so should not be too long and will get vids up!

  10. Thanks for all the nice comments guys ! Unfortunatly cant test it properly yet, as my wheel hubs were trashed kindly by the tyre fitters, so now need to replace 2 hubs (may as well replace all four while im at it with new bearings to take the weight of the install) So as soon as I have that sorted I will get it set up and take some videos!

Cant wait to get booming again, Alot of man hours have gone into getting things just right (mainly the dash and cabling !)

Will promise some vids soon - For now heres one of the old setup:

    Cheers everyone!

  11. Hello all.

I thought I would take some time to share my project build on here. Ive been into car audio & design for a few years now, and finally decided it was time to make a decent looking build! I know its a smaller build compared to some others, but its a small car :P

Heres what the car looks like ( 1995 Fiat Punto )

Now onto the new, Started as always by stripping everything to basics:

Lots of room to play with for enclosure:

  12. Thanks guys. Also a big thanks to you Rusty, was really pleased with the packaging & quality of the woofers! Loving the blue dustcaps too!

I have not been able to have a proper play around as the wheel hubs on my car have been wrecked, so waiting on some one new ones so I can drive it again. Really looking forward to hearing them full tilt, as I had a small play around yesterday and the frequency range it hit was alot wider than the hcca with a real nice sq!

Im going to BR in the 139 class :D

  13. Hello all!

Posting from over seas all the way from UK, thought I would share my car, I will be posting the full project up later on today but for now heres how she looks.

Everything was a bit of a squeeze into the small Fiat, but nothing a good bit of time and a hammer could not solve ;)

Enough of that, heres the pics!

The car - Needs slamming next:
