  1. got a link

To what, specifically? The design? It was done by a forum member on CA.com, not sure if he is over here.

interesting design, im assuming your going to remove the back seat?

Yea, thats the goal, going to sawsall the metal behind the seat a little bit for the port, but shouldnt be a issue.

Its only going to be my temp daily, while I save for my bigger build, next design will have the port going through my rear deck. This one prob could, but didnt want to cut it just yet.

  2. Basicly the same setup that I had in my trunk before and I'm workin on doing this week again. lvl 4 18" with 5.5 cft tuned to 32. I have a jbl bp1200.1 as of now but hopin to upgrade soon. I will post some vids when im done =)

That will pound trust me, my sub was getting 1200w maybe, the kicker was putting out the power, but i was having voltage drops im sure.

And here is a little sneak preview of whats coming soon,....

Port may need to be change to your liking. I'll gladly change it if you want.

Box is 24" high by 48" wide by 28" deep (according to your dimensions) with a forward firing port and up firing subs. Port is 3" high by 46" wide. Made using 1" wood. Port is 3" high by 46" wide and about 19-20 inches long, putting tuning in the mid 30's at 10 cubes.

15.22 cubes before displacement, 13.71 after port displacement and (assuming 1 cube per sub) 11.71 after sub and port displacement. Should be just over 10 cubes after bracing (all-thread or wooden dowels recommended, but you can use 2x4's if you want). All-thread would net you some good strength cause you could use a lot of it.

Give me a minute and I'll get a sketchup with the dimensions listed in the pic.

Thats a beautiful design, but its not going to work.

Its no way that trunk "well" part or center has 48" of width, its 42" max and thats pushing it. Not to mention its not 28" of depth, subs would literly be touching the trunk lid.

Im knocking this guy, because I love seen Crown Vic and Grand Marquis builds, (since I own one :D ) however I think he need to be a little more realistic about his goals. Id love to do (2) LVL 4 18's in my trunk, but I know thats not going to happen.

One LVL 5 with a lot of power in a proper box will def provide the bass he seeks, in my opinon.

  4. Thanks a lot man. Il get some pictures tomorrow, that's when it will get done being bagged. I might eventually do a wall but not now. And it would be a clamshell with 4 18"s. But for now I'm doing all the amps and batteries in a custom center console that goes from the front dash all the way to the trunk, rear bench will be turned into buckets. I have 10 cubic feet to work with in the tub of the Vic and a couple more on the shelf in the trunk if I want to utilize that. Each sub will take 5 cubic feet so we are pretty dead on there. Worst comes to worst, it sounds shitty and I do the wall or rebuild a box. But like I tell all the girls, "il make it fit" haha

I feel ya man, got to do whats best for you, right? Now, one option I failed to mention, even though this is on the DC Forum, and I love Rusty's products, I might suggest another sub. Sundown Audio Nightshade 18's will work in as small as 4ft3 net each and still give suprising results.

Whatever you decide, good luck :good:

  5. I would really suggest a wall if you insist on (2) 18s. I have a 04 Vic, so I know the car very well.

2 aint going to happen in the trunk at all. Im currently running (1) or at least I was, (sold my bass amp :( ) in my trunk and it gets down and dirty off 1200w. I hear what your saying as far as what you want to do but you also have to be reasonable. I also suggested a wall for maxinum impact into your cabin, plus leaves you most of the trunk for batteries, (which you going to need a few with this setup) and your amps. Plus, car is not a daily driver, so I say go for the gusto.

Any pics of it? I like the direction your going with it. :)

  6. 18'' damn!
    sounds loud!
I used to use bubble rap behind my plates, it always worked great for me in my cars..

Thanks for the feedback guys, it gets the job done.

I though about bubble rap as well, seems like it would work pretty good. If my damn plates could be screwed at the top and bottom, im sure that would help, (top only on my car) :(

But like I mention above, ive got a few ideas that will both increase output into the cabin very well, and get rid of the trunk rattle all together. Stay tuned :D
