  1. So im assuming that the setting your talking about is the low pass filter, If you are using the crossover that came with the speakers I would just let it handle all the crossover points and slopes. Leave the amp setting at 50hz so you are giving the set as close to a full range signal as possible.

    I am using http://www.poweracoustik.com/pa2006/produc...O_amp_stax.html

    1250/2

and I am using the HPF on the amp as well when I move it to 50 is seems to have more bass as I wand to limit some of that out I have the know straight across towards 500hz

  2. Ya that's parallel. It's right I was just making sure you didn't have them mixed up. I have an Audiobahn amp that runs hot no matter what and it use to eventually overheat, I needed a thicker power wire to ensure it didn't go into protect. It still runs hot but before I could fry an egg on it if i wanted. My friend used a sony amp for a short amount of time. I believe he ran a single RF 10 on it and fried it. Now he probably had his gain too high or somethin but this was when i wasnt around. The amp wont even turn on now.

K thanks I will be hooking up his new sony tonight so we will see what happens it is a mono amp so might be better I think. It is a XMD9001GTR so will see about getting it all set as I haven't seen on it but it says it can be 4 or 2 ohm so need to hook it up at 4 ohms maybe it knows LOL

  3. most of the time if it is over heating and cutting off then the amp is clipping!

    sub wired wrong ?

check the impediance of the coils with a vote meter to make sure everything is fine!

also what gauge power wire are you using?

could be numerous things to be honest!

The wiring for the speakers to the amp is correct and the ground is good . The power wire might be 10 or 12 gauge I think. the Impedance is good for the amp and speakers.

  4. Ok are ya ready for this my friend has 2 8 ohm Kicker comps and he went and bought a pioneer 5400t the place said it should be fine and we hooked it up so that it was bridged and gain was under normal. Being 8 ohms we wiring them in series to 4 ohms which the amp is 4 ohm stable. Which that is the only way it looks to wire those for that amp ohm.

Well it hit hard but after some time it overheated I checked his ground and all is good his deck is at -10db(all the way down) he ended up taking it back and getting a Sony xplode not sure what model but the guy told him that it was hooked up wrong he thinks thats why it was overheating but how could it be hooked up wrong?

He ended up getting a sony xplode not sure the model but think this one will heat up as well I am not sure if its a mono block or not.

    Thanks
