  1. The ol' hiding behind the copier machine and hit him with a sticky granade to the head trick, classic...
  2. I use little ol' pen and paper.... probably why I can't build a ported box...
  3. That a pretty neat setup ya got there... We got an 02' 7.3 that looks just like that
  4. Well now I'm glad I didnt rush off and build it, I re worked the design and saw I could have gotten a little more space outa it.
  5. Alright, I came up with a new box design. I measured my truck and this every bit space I have available. I drew it up on CAD before I calculated volume, and to see where I stand without the little pot holes in the bottom I just did it as if I had a flat bottom, and havent done it for the pot holes yet. Anyway, without the pot holes at the bottom, I came up with something like.... 3.8894ft3. A few questions pop up while looking at these figures: 1) Kicker manual says I need 1.75ft3, Do I need EXACTLY that much or can I go a bit over or under? 2) Lastly, for now, If I wanted to make it a round port, is it as simple as just figuring the sq inches then moving them over to a length of round port with the same internal volume? I came up with something like 59.32" long at 4" diameter, sound about right? I always read on here people saying "Ask questions, thats what the site is for" so we'll see how that works out. Any help would be welcomed and appreciated. Thanks!! Alright, I've included a few pics and a vid for better visualization for those who care. It's unfinished btw, I didn't draw some of the internals cause it's a real pain... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYjrrDCvwJk
  6. Yep, plan is to build a new one, save this one incase the next one comes out crappy (which it probably will, cause I've never built a ported box and still don't fully understand how to make the ports) Kicker says each sub needs 1.75ft3 (that accounts for sub displacement aswell), so 3.5ft3 for both. This box is already 2.678, and I'm sure I can squeeze .822 somewhere, but the port displacement is gonna make it feat to leave me with some leg room.... I'll start on a new box design tomorrow, and see if it will work, if it looks like it's plausible (Thank you Myth Busters) then I'll take lots o' pics and start a new topic in the builds section. Those with reg cab trucks check back soon! Well really, everyone check back so y'all can give me some tips and tricks as I work my way through it!!!
  7. Wow you exactly right! I reread the manual and have no idea how I missed that! Man your a pretty smart fella you kno that.
  8. So I keep trying to see if this box is port-able, and everytime I do it it doesnt come out right. So maybe I'm doin it wrong or maybe it just ain't ment to be ported. Let me know what y'all think. Let me know what y'all think about it guys, I would appreciate any help y'all could throw my way on this one.
  9. Nope, I don't know where to go or how to go about doin it. If anyone knows some place around Austin let me know. Maybe Custom Sounds?
