-
this is a response video to show the DC in action , you be the judge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYX9MPW2eB8&feature=youtu.be

ok i think the noise i heard is just the woofer bottoming out , due to playing low hz and box tuned to mid low 40s
-
when was it purchased
around april 2013 but i bought it from someone on Facebook it looked brand new it came in the new box cone was stiff too
-
I push mine past xmax every day. As far as they'll go without bottoming out. Year and a half later no issues
with what amp
-
im using this woofer in my room with a macrotech and it plays fine
-
after checking the ohms on the woofer it reads 2.4ohm and 2.3ohm
-
It posted twice because I'm on a phone .. but ithe volume. wasn't high. The lights were barely dimming. I doubt it dropped below 11.5
Really, you base your voltage use on how much your lights dim??
ok you have a point there
-
i might jus send both woofers to psi
-
thax for all the replies, most likely ima need a recone for 1 sub, smh temptation is a bitch . i guess ima use this as a lesson well learned
-
lol did you guys not read the volume wasnt high
-
ok aside from the obvious that i did everything wrong.. woofer still plays my concern is do i need a recone ? im not gonna play music on it untill i get evrything right .. i have an oscope on the way someone replied in the other post saying that the coil might have been bubbling? anyone is familiar with that ?
the bubbling i stated in the other, i saw first hand, and Rusty explained it to me (the owner of DC). The massive heat build up can cause gasses while the resin/glue starts to melt and evaporate on the windings, with the flatwound coils, there is no where for this gas to go, so it takes the path of least resistance, the aluminum former, which it will bubble out and create a ridge all the way down to the bottom of the former where it can escape. this ridge can touch the pole and cause a rattling sound.
your problem might be this, it might not, but a recone is probably the only thing to fix your said "rattle".
man if i have to recone 1 i might as well just recone both to upgrade them ( i have 2 woofers i had only 1 playing)
if you cut the dustcap off without hurting the cone, looking down to the pole and coil will be your best bet.
if you have the issue i stated above, you will see something like this....
which kind of dustcap do you have?
as of right now i would dare to cut the dust cap offf knowing that evrything ive done is wrong so far

Just report the other thread and tell the mods it was a double post and ask for it to be deleted.
Was the sub hot to the touch? Stinky?
it was really hot , and it smelled like direct current burning a resistor , , but it was playing and bass was sounding great just there was a rattle at higher volume
