one serious sub.

I like my MLA... The VCM isn't very good looking cosmetically. I wouldn't want that big box inside my truck. I have the MLA with the H/L switch and I love it. I dont know why anyone would want to change there voltage so much that they need what the VCM offers but they made it so someone must. Simple flip of a switch with the MLA and I am sitting in the high 15's
Also I dont know if the VCM is plug and play, I am sure it is...but the MLA was for me, I got a dual alt MLA, very clean wiring harness with nice factory plugs.
what brand?

will also charge while driving

sell the cap, get the batt.
-
32 12's would make my hair do tricks, and I'm bald
-
I have 2 aluminum HDC312's with an AQ3500 on each. the subs take all I want to give them
-
yep, use batts instead of caps.

About 1300 Watts, with 2 Amplifers. I already have an Optima, Im going to look into the Big 3....does this noticeably help?
Yes.

my bad, just realized you said a 2009. may not find many in the scrap yard.
-
find a fold down back seat for your car at a auto scrap yard and fire your port forward.
-
should be decent!

just remember to not ever slam your trunk lid.

just man up and drill a hole in your firewall. thats what i did in my friends tacoma because that was completely sealed off. just silicone it when ur done running them through the panels
x2

a lot of folks seem to like the Shok wire, but I don't see why your 2 AWG thin stranded wire wouldn't work as long as you can get it to fit the connectors. Current runs through wire, right???

Im probably gonna get nagged at for starting a new topic instead of searching, but i'll have you know i did have a look.
so anyways,
i've got a 18" sub for my first car system (all previous subs and stuff was in the house, so i know my stuff ) its the one in my avatar. gonna run it off 1500watts. now the stock door/back shelf speakers sound nice but they are ancient and aren't loud. So i was wondering roughly how much mids and highs i would need? i'll most likely run them off a 100x4 amp + i can use the stock amp for tweets if necessary. BTW nothing expensive for mids and highs, just Pioneer, anything else is hard to get hold of in this crappy country.
And also what order do i get stuff in? i've got the sub. getting sub amp in 19 days for my B-day. so do i start with electrical, door panels or build the subs box first?
thanks
If you can't find anything in this "crappy country", why not go live in another country so you can find something "Really Great" and get it ripped off before you even put it in your ride........

love my second skin. was easy to work with and clean up was a breeze

If you can afford it get you a nice deka batt in the back. Do not remove your stock wire just add the 1/0 for the big three. the big batt in back will be nice when you upgrade which you will when you hear the BIG BASS your setup will put out now with your new alt and all.

I started with 1 12" sub (don't even remember the brand) that was 300 rms on a 175 rms amp. 6 months later I had 2 AQ HDC3 12's in a custom box off 2 AQ 3500's with the electrical to match. I have no trunk space AT ALL. If I build a WALL, my wife will KILL me...........but I'm ready to DIE.......THAT'S BASS ADDITION........

Stop checking the websites for your car. You have to call and talk to someone. They can make the alt to fit your car.

I had some bad luck, almost got out of car audio entirely. A year later the itch came back like a bad herpes rash
G/L, it'll work out.
Yeah, don't quit man. I've had tough luck too. Seems like everytime it starts to go right some little thing pops up that cost big $$$. Tell you what; sell all the old stuff you can, wait a few paydays or however long it takes to save about $1000. Then buy the biggest, loudest, system you can up front. There are alot of (no name) brands out there that are as good as or better than the name brand stuff. Make your system louder than you think you want to start with and you won't be sorry. There are alot of smart people on this forum that are glad to help folks like us.

I would love to hear the marketing idea of the plastic filler they used
They claim it is a special Magnetic tubing which helps with current transfer

What's everyone's opinion on buying refurbished equipment from sources like Crutchfield? Is it safe or should I just stick with buying new?
Dan
I bought a refurb RF amp from Crutchfield with no problems. I also bought a refurb MMATS amp from MMATS and it pounded.
xs power VCM question

Just wondering who uses one and if you notice a difference. I have one on a DC 270XP alt which has a setpoint of 15.1 volts. The VCM is set to not go over 15.2. If the alt by itself has a setpoint that high what good does the VCM do?
