  1. Woo Hoo! I got this BFM carpeted today. (Don't bash me too bad guys on the seam or the end caps. I'm going to trim this thing out on the end caps so you will never see where the carpet rolls in the inside of the caps. Also the seam on the top, I'm thinking about doing some kinda trim up there to hide the seam but I haven got a clue "what" yet. For now I'm going to run it like this until I make sure everything its tip top.

I called around also today find out how much its going to cost to get this thing on a RTA to get the DQXS tuned and I was quoted !$100 And they gave me a $10 off coupon, So its only going to cost $90 now, which is the cheapest I've found. Some of the other shops wanted $150-$200. (I was like WTF?) So next week I'll have that done and everything should be installed. (I HOPE!)

  2. I know this will be a long shot but guys I'm looking for the Endcap for a Old Rockford Fosgate Punch 40DSM. I'm needing the one that has the Punch 40DMS logo on it. (That the only one that is lost!) If you have one or know anyone that has that one. Please get with me.

Here is a picture of the amp that I have with the missing endcap.

Thanks guys for all your help.

  3. Clean box, I like what you did on the ends, might have to use that for my next box

Thanks guys for the complements. I did the ends that way because in the back of the Hoe is 49" wide so I made the box that width to help out with filling all the trim area. Now I just have to figure out how to secure this thing to the truck so it wont be lay'n loose in the back.

  4. I just hope I don't have to getting this box with a cutoff wheel to shorten this port! You guys have any Ideas for a Amp rack. I thought about building one under the rear set abut it looks like it might be a P.I.T.A. I also thought about building one on the back of the box because Sometimes I might have to take this thing out of the back from time to time for y wife uses this as her work truck and she has allot of stuff she has to pack in the back.

Any help or ideas you guys have please feel free to chime in.

Now wheres the best/cheapest place to get Vinyl and carpet?

  5. Well Guys after my first attempt and building a ported box for my ol' JL 15w0 and the screwing up. I decided to try again and this time I got a better out come. On the first box I was doing slotted ports but after them causing be a problem I gave up on that Idea and on the new box I just put a 4" round port because I'm going to make a face plate with a cloth speaker grill that will hide the cones of the subs and ports so it was no big deal. Now I just need to try and find some carpet thats cheap to cover this thing. I thought about doing the face plate in a vinyl and the box in Light gray carpet to match the factory Tahoe interior.

On a Cool side note I finally got the Punch 40dsm (Traded a buddy a ol' pioneer head unit for it) I think I got the better trade but we will see. I hook the amp up to a Power supply and everything looks like its going to work good. I'll run the amp bridged 4ohm mono so it should power these little subs fine.

I ended tunning the box to 31hz so We will see if that was too low but I'll let you know when I get it fired up. If I have to I can cut the port with a cut off wheel to shorten it if I have to.

Then it's to the RTA to get the DQXS set up.

  7. I've use this head unit for about 2 years with no problem. This has all wires and box and manual. I'm including a dash installation kit for 2000-2006 Tahoe. The only things missing is the factory trim ring that you can get on eBay for $10 or less and the metal cage and it can be bought for $10 or $15 on eBay. I guarantee that this unit works like it did the day I bought it. There is no scratches on the faceplate and the motorized face works great. I'm asking $250 for this unit with the iPod adapter or best offer. I'll give this a few days here then its off to eBay. Thanks for Looking. Shannon I also have 100% positive feed back on eBay so you can buy with confidence.

  8. Did the RTV work? If you do change the head gasket be sure to put a MLS (Multi Layer Steel) gasket back on it. Then you will never have to worry about it ever again. We use MSL on out 17deg Small block Chevy in our drag radial car (Street car) and we shoot Three kits to it, 300hp on the 1st,250 on the 2nd and another 150hp on the 3rd. Even with all that we have never blown one. So for your truck I would say the MLS would out last the vehicle.

  9. OK, well I finally got my Bluetooth adapter today and got it all hooked up. (Got tired of the wife driving with one hand on the wheel and the other on the phone try'n to kill some poor schmuck). So I seen they (Kenwood) had a update and I did that. The thing works fine with my phone (Palm 755p) and her phone (LG rumor) but it wont upload our phone books for some reason? Dose any1 have the same problem with this Bluetooth adapter?

    Thanks!

    Shannon

  10. I wish you all the luck but think of it this way, The problem you have is like try'n to use one of those little sponge bob square pants band aid to stop the bleeding of the next door 43yo Lady's self inflicted slit wrist after she found out the man she has been married to for the past 25 years was caught sleeping with two 27yo hot chicks at the same time. I know thats a little extreme analogy but sometimes you can't just tap some1 on the shoulder, you have to hit them with a baseball bat. LoL

  11. RTV will not seal a head gasket leak. Bars only stops water leak. The problem is the oil pressure will be high enough to push the RTV every time. You could try urethane but I doubt that will work also. But you could try that. But you will have to clean the shit out of it and then let it cure for a day or two before you start it. What I would do is just bite the bullet and yank the head or pull the motor and send it back due to it not being sound.

I hate to be the bare of bad news but please trust me on this. I have been into racing and this kinda stuff of a long time and thats the way it goes.

Sorry! If you do pull the head, clean the block and take a flat file and lightly file the head then install a MLS head gasket (from Felpro or Cometic) and that should fix the problem. Plus all you would be out would be the head gasket and intake gasket.

  12. I did a fast search for the wiring schematic to use relays to turn my stuff on but found nothing. dose some1 have the schematic could you please post it.

Guys I really do appreciate all the help! Thank you!

Woo Hoo! tomorrow my new Kenwood DNX7100 will be here with the installation kit with Bluetooth and iPod accessory's! so tomorrow I'll shoot you some pictures once i get it all hooked up tomorrow night!
