  1. Alot of people on here are running these:

    http://www.audioque.com/aq/?page_id=30

And they are selling for 549.00 Christmas special. They do more then rated as well. I plan on buying one for a truck I just bought to run 2-15" BTL's.

I agree. However I would wait until he runs out of the current stock and starts selling the AQ 3500.1 which is due late December, thats what I plan on buying in feburary. :spiteful:

Here is a quote from CACO

You guys have been buying up our amps and subs like crazy. We are complety sold out of the copper coil HDC318-D2's at $249 except for two I had set aside for a customer who couldn't come up with the money. Those will go to the first person who e-mails me.

We are down to 1-AQ2200D and 1-AQ1200D as of this morning but are being restocked on those amps next week (250 of each on this container). Parts for the SDC series are on the water now so we should be building those again in a couple of weeks. We have a limited number of AQ3500D's left but will run out of those shortly. We have a new shipment of the AQ3500D.1's coming in December. When the present stock of AQ3500D's is gone the sale on those will be over.

The new AQ3500D.1's will probably be rated:

    1400 at 4ohm at 14.4 at less then 1%thd

    2600 at 2 ohm at 14.4 " " " "

    4300 at 1 ohm at 14.4 " " " "

5300 at 1 ohm at 16 volts at less then 1%thd

6000 at 1 ohm at 18 volts at less then 1% thd

    7000 at 1 ohm at 18 volts at 6%thd

    2 amps linked:

    8600 at 2 ohms at 14.4

    10,600 at 2 ohms at 16 volts

14000 ar 2 ohms at 18 volts at 6% thd

Tested voltage at 14.4 at less then 1% thd based on (CEA2006)

    Working voltage 9.5-18.5

Comes with two 0 gauge power inputs

The AQ3500D.1 will sell for $699 shipped

  2. is anyone payin attention to the 600w rms from an alpine...?

who cares what ssds do on 1000w... it comes down to whats the best soundin and most efficient use of 600w rms max

it's still good to let him know though. The SSDs sound great on 600 or 1K. It gives him room to grow also if he plans to upgrade. But once again the Fi gets my vote

  3. I had 2 12 SSDs a while back. I loved those damn things. Had 2 L5s before them, and when I switched to the SSDs they sound so much better and IMO the better overall sub. Also I had about 2K to them and they took them like a champ. Their clean and very smooth sounding with the right box. Their also underated and their recones are easy to get compared to *cough* *cough* Kicker *cough*.

  4. Well a lot of people from my school have asked me to build boxes for them and I am doing them for a resonable price and the thought popped into my head. Why don't I make it a small time service? Well after a bit of designing and thinking I have came up with what is now gonna be known as germantown audio. I made a shirt and was wondering what you guys think. Here are the shirts. They are gonna have my name and my friends name on his who is helping me with this aswell. We are gonna split every profit 50/50

Personally since it seems like your doing most of the planning, or the just the thinking in terms of business I would do 60/40 split. Unless their contrubuting alot more than just being friends. But hey its a good start up, but I would also put what you actually do on the back of the shirt also. (installs, box building, etc) Looks good though, nothing like word of mouth. But dont charge to low, and do private prices. In the sense where you give different prices per constumer and tell them keep it private. I found out personally that everyone wants the sam d*mn price regardless. Also put a number and a email down along with the services. Good luck!

Edit: Also watch the license thing also. Dont advertise too much, keep it word of mouth until your ready to buy a license. If not prepare to be FINED lol

  5. I dont know but my head unit only has one "sub out" so i had to use a Y adapter for both the RCAS.

The RCAS came with a amp kit. i think boss

Is that what might be causing it?

It sound like a signal issue. Take out the DC and check the coils just to be sure. But its sounds like your RCA are getting a bad signal. But first try grounding your rca's at the deck or someplace if you can. If its a pioneer deck (which are notorious for having loose RCA grounds), then Im sure its your issue. IF that does not work try switching out the RCAs with another.

  6. if the amp is on then its gotta be a loose connection or bad rca's

...or your sub-out is turned off on the headunit...lol...sounds dumb...but im guilty of that one..

Get a DMM and go to work. check every possible location, and see. Hell I even forgot to turn the sub on from my deck one time and thought the amp was fried. Im guessing maybe RCA's or low voltage.

  7. I think the normal rms the coppers can take are around 2500, and 3000 for the aluminums, but ive heard people on here say theyve had more power on their subs. Lol 650 per sub isnt very loud at all. I need to get another amp then ill be set.

The copper will take about 2500rms and the aluminum about 3K. As far as burping Im guessing a little more. But I would never put that much on them right out of the box. However I did read about someone burping with a Sundown 3500D with the aluminum coils.

  8. why is that my buddies knobs on my on the amplifier wont work neither does the rca inputs, i thought the bridge section inputs was only for using slave and master setups, so why does only the bridge-in works, thats the only way the knobs on the amplifier begings to work. why is that?

What knob are you using? One shouldve came with the amp, if your talking about the gain knob.

  9. I've noticed 2 people recently that have been worried about clipping and I'm here to tell everyone that there is nothing wrong with a little clipping and I can almost garruntee that everyone on this forum enjoys a little bit of clipping on their subs even if they don't realize it.

A little bit of clipping = OK

Unless you have really weak or junky subwoofers.

True. A little clipping wont hurt at all, just turn down the volume when it happens. But then again clipping can be caused by a bad signal from the amp
