This is a HUMAN ERROR. Right now im giving both of mine 2000 watts rms, clean power/non clipped, at 1 0hm, 14.4 volts and mine i can run all day without it even getting hot and smelly.
-
honestly man, its personal preference ur doing this for u and ur friend not to satisfy anyone else on here. no offense to anyone on here, so if u want ot be unque and on a budget do it, its gunna be nasty, personal preference is always guna come out ahead ha. id do it if i had the money go with what u feel comfortable doing as well
I agree with this, it's good to try something different, 12 15's are gonna get Hella loud for sure, and im not the smartest person when it comes to boxes and port area, but i think it really depends on the box you make and the time you put into the box, if you do your research and take time to build it right and tune it properly then it's all worth it . 12 15's should have alot more cone area than 2 18's but it depends on your build.

Get you a good alt from 230 - 350 amps, and something with a high idle amperage. that way your lights wont dim when you decelerate, there are people with big 15-19 volt systems and they have a huge amount of batteries, several runs of 1/0 to 2/0 to the back to their battery banks. MLA Modules, Xs Power modules,, and some 16v batteries.

Thanks! I will pass that on to Roy! I think he checks out the forum a little so he can see the comments
Damn steve the tahoe looks nice man, makes me wanna send my car all the way to cali
-
What do you mean underrated???
lol he means that the amp most likely puts out more power than its claimed
-
Try out Alpine Type R's, They get loud and low and can take real good power, great for the money
-
How much for a 100.4
-
Can't wait to see this build
-
a friend suggested to get a bigger alt so he said he would get it for me a 250 amp alt for 325$
Sounds like you don't have good idle amperage at all. Any specs on the Alt?? What is your voltage when you are at 1k to 2k rpm
-
yep
Try Switching From Optima To Xs Power
-
Is your 11.8 at full tilt
-
Big 3 helps, if you have a drop it charges faster because more current can fun through bigger wire unlike small wire. To me optima is not crap I've seen some big names use optima batts, XS power has good reviews for there batts. Just upgrade big 3 with at least 0 awg, check out knuconceptz site for wire they have cheap prices on good wire. If you decide to go with a high-output alt, there are lots to choose from, I currently got a h,o alt, and big 3 done, and im running 3k daily and if im really pushing the music hard idle it can drop into the 12's, but driving with my listening levels it stays 14.5 - 15.0.

Here's my problem.
With 1000W amp and 2 12s, I get voltage drop pretty bad at idle. I'm chillin at like 12V when im slammin stopped. When I get past about 1200 RPMs its fine, well kind of. I still notice the lights dimming but the gauge doesnt drop so low.
My question is...Is this bad? I mean bad for like the accessories, fuel pump, window motors, etc. I don't really mind the lights dimming cause my HIDs dont dim like standard halogens would...if it is, what size alternator should I get? I don't have enough room to add any extra batterys.
It depends on the system. How many total amps are you running in the car. People work with least expensive first, Look into doing the big 3 upgrade for your problem, if that doesn't help good a good name batt (Xs Power, Optima, etc.) And for last resort get a good h.o alt with a good output at idle

I think it would take a good 10-15 minutes of solid 16 volts to cause damage like that. Ever since Friday when I installed my VCM my batteries have seen 15.7-15.8 cold start and 15.4-15.5 driving and idle warmed up. Just cause its in the back of my head his battery might be going out, what alt/batt does he have?
He has a Duralast batt, and im not sure about alt, but its high output
-
Almost sounds like his battery is dying so when the starter cranks it practically drains it so the alt is doing wayyy overkill to bring it back up and somehow manages to do that. With 13.9 - 14.2 volts warmed up he should only see 14.5- 14.7 cold start but no 16 for a few minutes wont hurt
He was thinking that his battery was gonna explode after a few seconds
-
Thanks Guys, I appreciate the help
-
I've heard of alternator voltage too high due to a bad voltage regulator, but what about at cold startup? My buddies titan started up at 16 volts but returned to 13.9 to 14.2 volts when warming up. Is this bad for batteries

1 15
O yeah I agree there

daily i wouldnt put more than 1200 watts to them burps are a differnt story now
On 2 subs?
-
I was on a SMALL budget when I started my build. bought all 4 of my type R's for $400 new. And just under a $1000 for all 4 amps. Not sure what it would cost for a recone, but at that point I'd just buy a new sub and turn the power down a little. they get loud, hit the lows, (tuned to 34hz), and are going strong....sure, if I had a million dollas, I go bigger, but for the little bit that I have into my system, feel pretty good about it.
I say if you can afford it, go bigger (better), but I think they are nice for the money.........they work great for me!
