I think TylerTron also had the same problem, his alternator was also from DB and it was putting out nothing at idle. There was a large thread about it, and i think i read somewhere that he had Dom from Iraggi Alts check it out himself, and they determined it was the alternator.
Yeah i read that just a minute ago, his was a power-bastards. I called the guys from DB, And i have to send it back and they will check it and send it to me fixed or a new one. I just hope this new one doesn't do the same thing

rob knows just a little bit about alternators
. i would listen to him instead of guessing yourself.
Im not knocking his knowledge about alternators, Im glad he is trying to help, It's just I think it might be something else, i mean he might be right about the zero output at idle, but i also think there is something else because it was happening with the old one, Thats all
-
It is the alternator most likely. It's probably a small case 220A CS130D and has zero output at idle. There's most likely nothing wrong with the car itself, just an alternator with no output at idle..
I talked to another guy on here, and he has the same alt but for a sentra, and his has 110 at idle and actually does it, it's weird because my old one was about 70 at idle and was fine for 9 years, and went out a week ago, and b4 it went out i noticed it
-
Just out of curiosity, did the alternator come from DB electrical as its listed in your sig?
Yes it did, my old one before it messed up did it also, i think whatever my problem is was happening when my first stock alt went out

Does A Voltage Regulator have anything to do with this
-
My old alt went out on me, and my new one came in today. It's installed correctly, big 3 is done correctly, and my batt is fully charged. Well today i installed my alt, and i started the car and i hooked up my volt meter and it said 11.9 and just kept going down unti 10.1 i was like WTF. So i charged the batt on the charger, and tried it again, it did the same thing. So i went for a ride, I noticed that my alt is working great when the car is moving the voltage stays up around 14.4-14.6. Now for the weird part, i hooked my power wire back up to the amps and full tilt while moving went from 14.5 to 14.4. So i go home turn off the car and hook my volt meter up and with the car off the batt is running 12.6. Can somebody please tell me what is going on, My batt is good, connections are good, the alt is hella good, what is going on, why is the voltage that bad when the car is just sitting when it's on.

It's right underneath the alternator.
I know it's under it, it's just pretty hard to locate because of how clustered it and the pulleys are, GM makes everything so difficul with the whole car, even my stock engine ground was on the bottom of the engine
-
Look for an idler roller with an arm going to it. put a wrench on the bolt sticking out of the roller and twist couter clockwise and the whole arm should turn, taking tension off the belt.
Is it pretty simple to restore tension, by rotating again clockwise
-
I've tried google the only thing that comes up is the Serpentine Belt Configuration for running a new belt. I also looked for Auto tensioner on google, and it came up with 3 to 5 different kinds of pulleys
-
The Auto Tensioner on this vehicle is pretty hard to locate, any ideas?

2000 Pontiac Grand Am Gt 3.4L. Alright so i found out my alt did go out has serious burnmarks and the insides are gone, So i have a 220 On the way. I finished the big three today, so im ready to install the alt when it arrives. I needed some help on the Alternator removing process starting with the serpentine belt and auto tensioner. I know once i get that off it's pretty straight forward from there. Any Help would be nice, Tensioner diagrams, Or even how to work the tensioner. Thanks ill have pics up soon of the big 3 in 1/0 kicker hyperflex

Ok in the third pic above ^^ I noticed that there is my engine block a thin piece of metal that holds the spark plugs and some other stuff, and a little black piece of metal that just chills there. Would it be ok to have the terminal inbetween the two sheets of metal?, The bolt still goes into the engine block

Maybe it's a problem with the sub itself, I'm currently running 2 on the BXI 2010 at 1 ohm and they hit the notes perfectly and go low without bottoming out
