Alright So I popped the old bolts out and installed he new ones, i had to add a washer because the bolt was too long but i got it, The problem is is that when i unscrew the back of the bolt to add new wires, it hits this huge black plastic piece, (I think it's to my ram air), Any Ideas
-
I've heard it a lot around but never knew the name.
its at the beginning.
I Love your girl - The Dream

Thanks Guys for everyone's help, i will let yall know how it goes
-
Alright Ima gonna try that after work tonight, and if all goes well ima take pics and post them up here
-
Here's mine
And then to get the terminals off you just take it out of the battery and push on the threaded part (that goes in the batt) until it pops out. Then do the opposite with your new ones and away you go!
Hmmm... Ima have to try that, i wasn't sure at first that if i tried to cut or push that bolt out if it would damage anything

GM vehicles have that big ass red boot on the end of the wires going to the battery. You take the bolt out and throw it away, then replace the wire using the new bolts that you have. On the outside of the new bolts a secondary bolt allows you to attach more wires. Put ring terminals on the wires and tighten them down on the new bolt.
So I Can Still keep that big red boot
-
then why are you taking the factor connections apart? you just add the wires to the end of that GM post adapter and call it a day. No modification needed. Unless you are replacing the factory wires (i don't recommend this) you just add to it. Take a picture of the problem you are having and post it cause we may not be thinking about the same thing. I've done hundreds of GM's and that adapter has always worked.
So do you mean popping the old bolt out the back and adding a longer bolt, if so then i think we are on the same track
-
So if I pop out the old bolt out the other side, and put the new one in, that will fix all my problems
-
do yours have the second bolt that attaches to the end so that you can put ring terminals on the outside of that plastic ring? If not you have the wrong ones and need the ones in the link I sent you. Those will work but it is a PITA.
Yeah this one has that
-
Whoa whoa...
you're trying to cut the stock adapter off? Don't need to. You can pop the factory terminal out the back of the adapter, then just pop the new one in. Least that's how it was on my 'Prix.
Do you have a pic so i can kinda get a picture of what u mean, cause idk if we have the same kinda terminals

how close to Rockwall are you, i could just give you one if you stopped by
i live 87 miles from Amarillo, we are like a 5 to 6 hour drive apart
-
Has this happened to anybody else
-
Do you have a pic maybe, and there is no stereo shop in this town at all
Maybe A Site that sells them??
-
you just need a GM long post adapter, get it at an stereo shop. It bolts on to the battery and holds the factory harness and has another nut on the outside that you can attach all your aftermarket wires to.
Do you have a pic maybe, and there is no stereo shop in this town at all

Sometimes helps to stand back have a seat fire up a smoke and ponder for a few and it becomes clear. Well it used to for me when i still smoked.
I've tried relaxing and everything, and i just cannot find out what to do at all
-
Yes it will work unless the bolt isnt long enough then its a trip to the parts store for a longer one.
Naw i have a perfect size bolt, it's just the rubber cover on the factory bolt, it has a metal brace on the inside that the bolt goes through, i dont wanna mess it up
-
your not alone.. on my navi i had to unbolt the alt take the belt off the alt so i can do my big 3 then put everything back together..
Exactly man i hate when stuff like thats gets in the way, im stuck right now and i've been at this all day
-
this ^^^ electricity will naturally take the easieast path so keep the factory wires there and just add the bigger ones to help
Im keeping the factory wires
-
If you cut the rubber on the outside of the terminal the bolt should pop out letting you slip the new lug in there so you dont have to cut the plug off.
Are you sure it would work cuz i dont wanna cut the rubber and then it not come out right, cuz then my car would be :censored:
