I just bought brand new fosgate rcas for my setup 2 sets of 6' cables and 2 17' cables
-
I really have no other place to ground to without cutting a hole in the floor and running it under the car to the frame
-
I'm getting terrible ground noise coming through my speakers, it was faint but it got louder once I put in my cadence ceq773 equalizer, anything to fix this? I've tried ground loop isolaters, I've tried grounding the rcas, grounding the ground loop isolater, I've tried almost everything. My amps are grounded to the rear strut towers, and grinded to bare metal

Anybody have anymore ideas?

What size is your current belt? I can get belts in 1/8th in incraments...
@ OP i would look up the specs to your belt and give this a try...!
That's the thing, I don't know if I can go any smaller
-
Anybody have a pulley location for this car

I'm not sure, I know its 1 size smaller than stock.

^^^^ Changing belts in those cars is a prick, you have to pull the upper motor mount. It's not so bad when you have a forklift to hold the motor up, but in your driveway, not so much fun.. Sanding pulleys is only a temp fix, a day, maybe 2 if your lucky, not really worth the time. If it's slipping, it will just re-glaze the pulley in short order..
Its a huge pain to change the belts, I will get you pics, my alt is a mechman 270 with the overdirve pulley, do your really have zero problems with the 3400's at your shop?
-
have mechman fab you up something dude! dont quit because of that thats a drop in th ebucket.
I've tried to get mechman to fab me up something, but they said they can't because the do not have a grand am in the shop to experiment with. I want to stay in audio but I spend so much money trying to keep my car in great condition, and I get a belt whine that makes it sound crappy
-
the gator belts seem to help a lot of people. other than that, its what mechman said. you need to make a bracket to get an idler pulley near the alt. post pics.
I will post pics, just have to get to my computer first and ill get pics
-
Also have already checked the pulley alignment and its fine

I'm to the point of giving up on car audio for good. My 2000 grand am gt 3.4L has had belt squeal for 8 months now. I have replaced the tensioner 2 times, alternator 3 times, idlers 2 times, belt 5 times. I have tried everything possible to get rid of it. I talked to Mechman and he said that because of the High Output Alternator it is gonna squeal unless, I add a idler pulley so the alternator gets more belt wrap. Well I cannot find a place to put the pulley, and I cannot get a smaller belt than the 1 size smaller that I already have. It won't fit. My belt is a Gates Green Stripe and is only 2 weeks old. I have checked every pulley, waterpump, power steering pulley, H Balancer and its all fine. What should I do guys, is there anybody here with a 2000 to 2003 grand am that has a H.O alt with the same problems. Any help is needed guys because I'm going insane....... Btw. Please nobody suggest, Wd-40, belt dressing, soapy water, bar of soap or any other stupid solutions. It makes my belt squeal 10000000000 worse so it doesn't work.

Nah, Lee is like 5'3 and the guy there is about as tall as Ronnie...plus I just saw the description of the thread where it says Andy Haman (can't say I've heard of him though, must be a newer guy)
is mens fitness a big thing now in the US? I remember alot of the hardcore bodybuilders and bodybuilding fans looked down on it when it first appeared some years ago
Andy Hayman is pretty big also, he tried out for American gladiators awhile back, if i can remember right they wouldnt let him compete because he was bigger than the gladiators lol
-
Them guys are true bodybuilders, i used to be into powerlifting last year in highschool. 6'1 272, had pretty low bench score but hurt my shoulder alot. had a squat of 535 and deadlift of 465
-
is your friend on this forum? i heard some one else doing that a month or 2 ago. its quoted in someones sig lol
Nope, i think i saw something similar also
-
lol yall guys are all wrong. 16 gauge power cable and ground cable with 4 gauge remote and 4/0 speaker cables lol
-
its stupid but its not gonna hurt anything
I know it wont hurt anything, i just think its not necessary, i think its pointless and a waste of money
-
not necessary and rather strange...

I have a buddy that trimmed down 4 ga wire for a remote wire.. Im pretty sure this is a fail, but he claims that this is the kind of wire you are supposed to use, should i post a facepalm picture on this thread

Ohh another thing. I unplugged the harness to alt. Let it sit like 10 minutes. It charged 14.0v for a minute or so then dropped off to 7.5 again
It wouldnt start if 7.5v
