  1. I live two hours and 32 minutes north in Greenville Pennsylvania but will be making the long trip south tomorrow to pick up my laptop for school. Uniontown is below Pittsburgh and was wondering while I was down there if anyone had anything they'd be willing to demo. It's been way too long since I got rid of my DC XL and Crescendo, and since I seem to be the only REAL audiophile anywhere around me I figured I'd see if anyone would be willing to play a few tracks for me since i'll be so far away from home, I'll be in Uniontown at 9:00 a.m. at Staples so let me know. Thanks!

  2. Hmmmm something to think about thanks Fish Chris.....I guess you could have your port sticking out the front baffle where your subs are mount also.

Correct. I had about 8" of external port in my last setup so instead of having just plastic tube hanging out I built a little "beauty box" to try something new and make it look a little better imo. Without external port, there would not have been enough clearance. Worked well.

  3. Yeah I ran two 9a31's on my Crescendo 3kwp for a while at .5 and they did pretty well. Had to sell them a while back and the guy I bought them from online disappeared so... Where would I look to fond the discharge rate on these? I wasn't sure if the rating's I was looking for were on the page you linked.

And also, I saw the 600 and wasn't so sure. lol

I'm going to look for those discharge rates now seeing as one of the local marine batteries had a better Ah and RC rating... I'm looking for discharge though.

  4. for audio, its not just the deka brand. its the deka intimidator that is the good battery.

    look at the discharge rate.

Discharge rate. That helps. Thanks. :drinks:

Now for example, what would be classified as a good discharge rate per say? I'm about to do some research now on the differing rates between a few different cells. Thanks mane.

  5. you want a battery that can discharge as fast as possible. you need that power in an instant, not over an hour.

What is the specification I am looking for then, besides word of mouth on specific cells? Deka's have been marketed for I don't even know how long, with people selling them on the amp hour rate. Apparently Deka's are great batteries (9a31) but when Ah is the mainly given specification, and they are constantly selling off of that number... Not trying to come off as a dick, just want a more specific answer before I start planning.

  6. I appreciate the insight. I will be running either a single 18" or a pair of 15"s sealed off from the cabin in a trunked car setup on around 5k. (My Aveo) And price her is what caught my eye. For $500.00 I can run 5 of these marine batteries with the ratings that they have. I am stuck with my stock alternator so in order to run my DC 5K I want to have a good size battery reserve. I just got a new battery charger in January that I have yet to really play with.

Second question, which specs should I focus more on here? Amp Hours or Reserve Capacity. As you can see, one ras rated 115Ah and an RC of 180. The second battery was rated 106Ah and a RC of 215.

    Thanks.

  7. Quick question before i'm out for a while. I have been told by numerous people outside of the forum to look into using marine grade batteries. Locally I can pick up some batteries for around $100.00 a piece with what I felt were decent ratings in comparison to my old Deka 9a31's. Just looking for some thoughts.

Also, the two batteries had ratings of 115Ah with 180 Reserve Capacity, as well as 106Ah with 215 Reserve Capacity. Which of the two would better suit me? So far Mechman is not able to make an alternator for my car and I don't necessarily just want to break the bank in batteries. Running the stock alternator and throwing the car on the charger every now and then, in a bank of 3 to 5 batteries, would I be more concerned with the Ah or reserve capacity ratings?

    Thanks all. :drinks:

  8. No longer around as a partner or the business has physically diminished? I know how things went down here and some shoulder's have been turned. But if he is an option for an alternator for my car I might have to keep him open. I have a DC 5K sitting here and would feel more comfortable with a better charging unit than my stock AC Delco unit.

Worst case, maybe if I ran into issues after getting a unit from them and it breaks and I am ignored as well, I could see if Matt could help me out using the case I receive from Irragi?
