  1. he said to spend some money to build a proper box and you'll probably get better output...and just saw your vids that is one nice tahoe,is the subs going in that ride?

well we talkin bout fittin a btl 18 in the altima with not much room to work with..the tahoe has 2 btl 15's an RF t4k on its wayy stock alt for now till

i get enough for new one

  2. That is a very small box for a that 15, especially on only 2000 watts. If you just made an enclosure like 4.5ft3 @ 34hz w/ 65in^2 of port you would likely see a significant difference in output. Just by raising the efficiency by making a bigger box + more port area you should see a pretty big difference.

Trust me spend $30 first to see what kind of output you can get from the 15, before you got out and buy a bigger woofer. It seems like you won't have enough room to build a proper box for an 18" BTL or the power to counteract and inefficient enclosure.

where do i do that at??..pay $30 bucks to see what kinda output i can get ??

  3. It's right on the FI website btw- Sub displacement(18" BTL) = .26ft3... Kinetik makes very good batts but tests have proven that XS does perform better with direct drop in testing. I'd also look into Northstar(which is what I run now) and I was very impressed with the differences after I switched from kinetik.

Btw what vehicle is the 18 going into?? I'm hoping the Tahoe because in the Altima it's going to be very very tight if that's the route you're going. If so I'd suggest just sticking with a 15 in there or running an 18 that can still perform well in smaller boxes like a Sundown Nightshade.

but ive made the box thats in there 2.9cbft .1 short of recommended an id like it to be louder on the 15 in there now..its louder but id like louder

  4. I've never run DC alts so I can't comment on them either way but I have heard only good things about them. I've been running Ohio Gen for a few years now with great success and to my knowledge haven't heard a negative thing about them at all. Btw I'd still suggest replacing the rear batt with something alot bigger, like the one i mentioned. I'd also suggest checking what the current floating voltage is on those batts now, since you said they've been exposed to such poor voltage levels.

What woofer are you looking for the displacement on??

yeah we both need batteries i wanted to upgrade the front batts also the back..is kinetik any good.. or is XS better??..idk what that mean but it says sub displacment on ExpoSports box tuning from here on the forums

its a fi btl 18 so thats where im stuck an idk what to do been stuck since last night :(

  5. Yea that sounds pretty un-good lol, car is prolli revving to bring up the voltage because its electrical can't work properly that low. Not only is that bad for you car, batts, alt, but also it's what kills amps very often.

Pick up an HO alt, big 3 upgrade, toss one of those red tops under hood and pick up something like an XS 3100 or similar batt for in back. Also remember to have good clean grounds and big enough wiring to handle the amperage that the t2000 is pulling.

i did the big three 1/0

forgot to say 1 optima redtop up front an 1 in back

i was kinda thinkin for me an the wifey's cars dc alts??

do you know how to use expoSports's box tuning calculator

im stuck on the build. idk how to tune an when i do figure it out it doesnt seem right

idk what the sub displacement is??

max in the trunk is 34"width 25" depth 16" height??

can anyone help cuz i must be dumb hahahah

  6. In any setup that will be heavy weight wise I'll always run birch. In smaller setups then it's worth saving the money IMO and just using MDF works just as well. Both will work just fine and you really won't notice a difference once installed sound wise IMO at least. The thing that separates the two is the big weight difference, which when you're using multiple sheets, batts, amps, woofers can help out and ease the install somewhat.

the only thing goin in the new build im on is BTL 18 off a RF t2000 maybe up to a RF t2500 prolly gonna have to do something

about the electrical cuz current setup/temp is one my btl 15's off the rf t2000 an is doesnt do to bad for 2 optima redtops but still

drop pretty low..an when it drops low(05 nissan altima se-r) something weird happens its like the tranny goes into nuetral the car revs

but doesnt go anywhere till you turn down your system from a slow speed or stop
