Working on it yes, but I wouldn't expect anything very soon.
The fact that you guys are working on it gives me hope. I thought you guys might not have enough people interested or didn't see it as a large enough market to develop it. Thanks for the info and keep us updated.

Is that something you guys are working on Nathan? Please say yes.

i have a 2008 chevy tahoe and my truck controlls my alternator, i am in the proccess of buying DC power alts but i think i will have the same problem having my truck shut down my alts when it needs to. so my question is will the VCM help me keep my alts on at all times and controll my voltage like it suppose to?
I am in the same boat as you. I have an 07 new body Sierra with the 2pin alt. No VCM available for us yet.
-
Post up a pic and let me see if we have one for that application.
Check out the video on this page from about :40 to 1:10. It shows an alt with the 4pin plug and they proceed to convert it to 2pin. A lot of the newer GM's use this 2pin setup. They started about 5yrs ago.
-
2 pin oval? The oval 4 wire AD plug will work with 1 wire oval AD plugs.
The plug receptacle on the alt is smaller than the 4 pin ones, about half the size. Also there are two prongs in it not 4, there isn't any space for more.

Are there going to be VCM's available for newer GM trucks(2007 and up) with the 2 pin alts?

there is another thread about this same thing happening to my subs. one of mine had come out of the box and it had chips bigger than the ones you took pics of. you can file a claim from what i hear if its fed ex they will come back and pick up the sub and the box it was in and keep them for a long time while they are supossably looking into what went wrong. then they may or probably may not do anything about the situation. in my case it would have been easy to prove that fed ex did the damage because one box was good and the other was ripped to shreds. the problem was that fed ex would have screwed me over for mounths waiting for resalution. they screwed the wrong guy here though because i make decisions about shiping for a very large company any guesses who dont get my bussiness now? sorry you had this happen to you i just went through the same thing my thread was called stupid fed ex guy.
I remember looking through your thread a while back and hoping it wouldn't happen to me. Fed Ex was also to blame for this one. Due to the responses I have gotten I've decided to keep the sub. Filing a claim seems like too much trouble and time consuming. Had the basket and surround been all FUBAR'd I would have claimed no doubt.

I would go ahead and file a claim against the shipping company anyway.
I they can't do their job rite than someone needs to receive consiquences and if everyone that doesn't file a claim that needs too then not enough conciquences will be given out for the companies to realize that they need to tighten up their quality control. Now this may take 2 years to come around but hey you put out alot of money for a product and Rusty put alot of time and care into that product.
Why in the hell should you have to suffer the consquences nomatter how small they might be.
The shipping company owes you a brand new subwoofer that looks exactly the way it look when it left the manufacture. PERIOD.
I also feel I should get a flawless sub. It's funny because I was so scared that this would happen because shipping companies flat out suck imo. I have spent a few MONTHS collecting the pieces to my puzzle. This was the last piece and look what happened. I might have not said anything at all if I was sure to have it in regular enclosure, but I was actually thinking about adding plexiglass. :censored: Pending other comments I will decide to keep or send back. the time it would take to send back and get a return sub would be demoralizing.
-
You have to kidding if you think that will effect that sub in any way. Sweet sub though it will kill your back soon! haha
I figured it wouldn't, but some of the replies have me nervous now. I will be logging off in a few. Won't be back on until after 6pm central tomorrow when I get back from work. Hopefully rusty and others will chime in with their opinion.

Stephen I am only using one 12.

I will be using an AQ3500D to power it. I will post pics in a few.

I'm really stoked guys. I got my lvl 5 12 today and it's a behemoth. The only issue though is that the box took a beating and about an inch of the magnet/motor got chipped off during shipping(not seen in pics). It is towards the bottom of the sub, not the chrome part but the slugs or whatever you call it. This won't affect the subs performance will it? Everything else seems perfect, no cracks in the basket from what I see or tears in the surround.
This will be my first venture away from mainstream equipment and I feel all warm and fuzzy inside just wondering what it will sound like. I am going from two sealed 10w3v3's off a 500/1 to this, lol. More pictures to come in the next week or so.

Can you please check if the VCM is available for a 2007+ GMC Sierra 5.3 (engine "J" code)? I would like to order immediately.

Hey folks, I'm going o be ordering my sub(s) soon. I have narrowed down my choices to two... here is my other thread with sub choices. I have a few questions if I go DC. What is the outside diameter of the LVL 5 12? Can I use aero/precision ports? If so how many and what diameter? Finally, are the parts for the LVL 5's in? I emailed DC about 2 weeks ago or so and was told parts would come in on 11/13. Thanks guys.
