  1. i think thats abouy right and they are very well built the best i have ever seen i have found no mechanical or electrical problems from the hit they took and like i said before i got someone higher up looking out for me ive been cut out off three different cars in the last 15 years without a broken bone so i think these beastly subs will be ok.
  2. i know know there are good loaders and pickers that like their jobs at fedex just like you. i called and went through the process of filling a claim they said they would pickup everything and evaluate how it was packed and then get with DC audio to work out a remedy. sounds like a pain in the ass for everyone just because of some cosmetic damage. it really dosnt appear that the motors shifted any. i did take pictures of the damage and the boxes. i should be good somebody higher up usualy looks out for me pretty good.
  3. it looks like in some of the build logs that the big rubber suround that is on the DC subs is not allways used is that true or am i not seeing the pictures right. i am box building today and these big rubber surounds on the 18" DCs have me thinking about how to get the mounting right any sugestions?
  4. i called fedex and filled a claim they said they would come pick up the sub and the box it came in and try to see what went wrong. so i guess thats good. i am planing to buy two more level 5s and probably two amps then two more amps all from DC so i hope no one thinks i said anything about prices because i did,nt. i have a couple of days off from work starting thursday i have two full sheets of birch a table saw and a router waiting in the garage i drew up plans that you guys sugested that will give me just over 6 cubes per sub. i figured out how to add a third HO/alt to my van this week so i am having a good time with this thanks again for the advice on the boxes i may post some pic thursday.
  5. i dont know who started talking about prices and i would never tell anyways.
  6. thats the part that wories me a little i couldnt feel any rubing or hear any rubing i checked them all with a meter while pushing up and down for shorts and i have two days to decide what to do but if its just cosmetic i will be ok with them. i could feel my throat tightening up when i seen the fedex dude fliping them end for end and thought i was going to punch him in forhead. ive got to figure that he wasnt the only one tossing them around.
  7. i got my level 5 18s this morning at work. the guy fliped the boxes end over end to get them to the back of the truck and then pointed out that the one box was open so be carefull he said that nothing falls out. i could see that the other box was torn up pretty good too so i told him not to leave until i had a chance to inspect my subs. one had been droped out of the box and rolled around on the motor and basket knocking little chunks of magnet off and scuffing up the basket some. after looking close at all glue joints and baskets it appears everything is good just cosmetic damage. these subs realy must be built to take a pounding i am counting the minutes till i get off work to start work on installing them. i have had a constant steam of people in and out of my shop today just to see these beast.
  8. Thanks everyone advice taken its easy enough to change my plans now before I start building. 1” thick birch box volume 6.3834 @35 hz gives me a slot 4” wide by 22 high by 25.40 long that will change some once I figure in bracing
  9. Yep this is my first time posting here I am waiting for my lev 5 18” to arrive here in Ohio I have drawn up some plans for the box to put them in. they will be going into my ford van I have two HO/alts, four batteries, I have a few different amps but none that I want to keep for these subs so I will be getting new amps. I am going to wait till the first of the year for those and use my old amps until then. I am thinking about 3000.1s for each sub and then adding 2 more 5s in the springtime. My box plans are for 8 cubes each sub slot ports 38 HZs this will be my first ported box design. I will send pics when I get started and will take any advice offered with much appreciation
