If you are getting warm coils then you ought to change some settings. These changes will also improve sound quality. I have level 5s running daily on 5000 watts each. Here is what I do everything on head unit flat no bass boost, lpf on head at eighty on amp absolutely no bass boost lpf eighty or lower.
I forget what head unit you said you have but if it goes up to 62 then your probably not going to get clipping from the head at 37 and below.
Just keep all bass settings at 0 on head unit if your not getting good sound with everything flat then you may have box issues.

usually in the mid seventies depends a lot on the judge though.

2 level 5 18s walled at the b doing 150s on music. i keep entering the sq portion of meca events and the level 5s keep getting me great compliments. i did rta at todays event and the level were the best part they scored perfect. my mids were off my highs were almost right but the level 5s were perfect. these are the best damm subs ever. it is just so much fun to have people say your doing SQ with that setup.

my year end numbers and stats 2 level 5 18s with very little power. picking up two vfl500.1s on friday. so my numbers should go up some.

uh oh.... big man was asking bout me haha.... I work at the UPS Store in my town. we get tons of phone calls and i have to deal with pissed off customers about 5 times a day for stuff that we didn't do. usually its the company that shipped it that made a big mistake so i've learned phones skills over the last 4 years

I have DC subs because I liked talking to Rusty and I have done real well with them in DB drag, meca, and usaci. I got to meet Rob at world finals for the first time last weekend Hope I get to do it again.

Who’s using the 5ks and are they anywhere’s near as efficient as the vfl 500.1s I am sure the power ratings are all good that’s not a problem and I would like to have a pair of the 5ks but I want to see some in action or hear from someone who is using them.
Is anyone bringing a 5k to Dayton for finals? Is there a dc 9k amp I heard there was but don’t know about that.

i hope someone brings a 5k to dayton for the world finals. i was going to be getting 2 vfl500s and now i am on hold with that because i like DC and hope to get to see these amps in action.

I am very glad Rusty got these amps going i know he has been working on it for a while. There aint nobody better to deal with than Rusty which makes these amps even better.

whats your system consist of? And wat do you meter?
Well it changes all the time but right now the van has 2 level 5s powered by 2 ap 3000.1s @1ohm each three h/o alts which you can kind of hear running when I walk around the van. Only five batteries. Tons of good wire from Bob at American bass. 4 pioneer premiere 6.5s mid bass 2 pioneer soft tweets in the a pillar. All powered by a diamond D7 amp. I have good depth of field separation and time alignment. It was hitting 150s easy on the dash and headrest but that should go up a bunch this weekend because of the changes that have just been made. Changes were lexan roof center console and a butt load of sound deadener.

I just saw the whole vid (slow internet). Is this your dedicated SPL van? That's a lot of truck.
I still drive it about every day it’s a hoot. Jan 2nd it will be at a db drag in Dayton Ohio. I put about 3800 miles on it last year doing db drag, meca, and usaci.

I have level 5 18s I do spl and sq competitions and I don’t know the parameters but I can tell you that I did 8cf per sub, slot port tuned to36hz. One of the sq judges that have scored my system said they were the best sounding 18s he has ever heard. I have them crossed at 180hz when I do sq. I do 150s on music daily. Hope that helps you some.

Yep yep me too I am moving to ssnw for this year in db drag. I finished last season ranked #2 in North America 3rd in the world points for ex old school 3+. I do a lot of meca and whatever else comes along also. Two level 5 18s / two vfl 500.1s and I stay close to Ohio.
