Hey, I'm wondering what you guys have heard, experianced, seen, or know about the Massive Audio P3000.1.....I think it is 2nd gen as well? I'm wondering if you guys ever clamped that amp or know what it actually produced for wattage? I see they are very expensive. My friend has one and he may sell it, but idk if they are a real nice amp. Also he is telling me to make him an offer and idk what to offer him. Just because something sells for 650 doesn't mean it is actually worth that amount. I know he bought it brand new for 575-600 i think. It was used for a summer or 2 at most. It wasn't even being pounded hard. It blew all 4 of his MA Audio svc 15's He had stock alt. with 4gauge wire and 2 caps in the back of his blazer. I think he hit 148.9 legal and roughly 154's illegal. Sealed boxes as well. I'm just looking for some answers to my questions and wondering what you guys think on the amp and on what a fair price would be on that amp. Thanks a lot guys. I hope someone can help!!!!!!!!

I'm thinking 14.5v @ idle.....I've actually been in business since '99---do a lil of everything--car audio, remote starts, Alltel cell phone dealer w/ accessories, skateshop, video/navigation, custom installation/fiberglass jobs...
Anyway, subs are reading .8-.9 per coil @ rest through DMM...if I series/parallel 2 sets of 3 subs...each "bank" of 3 would be .6, series would be 1.2...sound right??
That's really cool man!. I wish i could start a shop or hobby shop. Just do it on my spare time. That's awesome dude keep that up. I bet you get a lot of teens down there with the skate shop and all. How did you start?

I would guess with the 225A alternator should be at a strong 14.4-14.8....actually it's 3/4" MDF---I own/run/manage a car audio shop and I'm building this for a buddy/fellow competitor. We are going to be running 6 of the Level 4 12's with Level 5 coils...box is just shy of 11 cubic feet...port will tune it to 35Hz. Have a couple other boxes/installs to do and the truck goes to muffler shop wednesday, so might not have much of an update until Thursdayish.....L8R
So 14.5v you thinking at full tilt? or idle? How did you start your shop? And nice set up...I'm really liking this

ok so i plan on having one aq 2200d so i wanted to see what my current electrical system sat.
i went to auto zone and he hooked up the machine to my battery.
the volts were sitting ~13.5v idle and total amps was 250 and change.
this is all before a big 3 upgrade.
should this be good ?
You already have an high out alt? JW cuz you said 250 A?
-
He means botteming your woofer out. Like pitting it. running out of coil when in is on the in motion. I'm pretty sure thats what he meant????? could be wrong. And the reason he is most likly thinking this is you may have too large of a box which would mean too much air in the box and the sub wouldn't be tight enough to keep it suspended. It would be sloppy and loose.???? IDK my descriptive words suck..lol

Time to bend up the port.....put a little flare on it. It will make sense in a minute.
WOW!!!! I absolutley love how you made this lil flare. Its DOPE!

Hey, I'm just wondering what i should look for in a deadner. I've heard some crazy things about SS. I'm almost positive I'm gunna buy your product. I know SS has a bunch of different products though. JW what it is i should look for in a deadner. I know you want it to stick so ease of application and adheartion is a biggy....Sounds like lots of people think Second Skin has that covered!. So I'm wondering if when you guys buy Sound deadner do you look for the thickness of it, the weight of the product? or what do you look for? Help me out if you can? Thanks guys.
-
Soooo, what are you guesstamating your voltage will be at with 8 12v batts? Why not run 14v's? And I love how thick this box is! HAHA! It's sooooo sweet. 5 layers rite? at an inch thick? Thats a shyt load of wood!!!!! LMAO! How many hours so far? and is it just you on your own time working on this? Or what? also what subs you running the one that was mounted in a pic earlier? Thanks...sweet build man

they got rebuild kits for your current alt on ebay. they say 200amp but do like 180 and cost around a bill
How do you find rebuild kits for alts on ebay. And how do you know what they will actually produce? JW? I'm not critasizing you.

i have an re audio sx 18 d2 i am running a re audio 4000de v2 on it. rms on the sub is 1000 peak is 2000 my amp rms is 1500 and it seams like it not even pushing it hard. so i am just wondering what amp anyone who has this sub is driving it with.
You can run these subs over there rated RMS and also their Peak easily!!!!!!!! I'm sure people are giving there RE SX's closer to the 3000 too 4000 watt range. Older US amps are real nice. Also AQ amps are extremly nice! It all depends on what you actually want to give the sub and how much you want to spend. The AQ2200D would give you rite around 2000-2200 watts on 1 ohm. That sub would be really happy on that. That amp is 389 shipped to your door.

Ya i thought I wanted a real nice motorized touch screen H.U. at one time too. I wanted one until i was riding with one of my friends that had a 700 and some dollar alpine and he hit an unexpected bump in the road. There was no way to see it at all and it wasn't noticable but it was a big enough jar and motion to snap the motorized links inside and the thing never flipped up again. Ya he was mad to say the least! Sure touch screen dvd H.U.'s are real cool but they are just more moving parts and more components to have break. So i think I would most def. go with a real nice dvd touch screen double D...Thats what my same friend did. He loves it too dealth and has not had any problems with it. Just my own input.

Where can i find step down modules? When i buy my h.o. alt i just ask about them? I've never bought an alt b4
-
Not being an asshole, but my rule of thumb has always been that if you have to ask about running a 16v system, you're not experienced enough to be doing it anyway
Ummm well than noone would of ever got there. You got to ask to gain knowledge and learn. I'm to the level where i know most things but i'm unsure of myself and ask about everything so i don't end up in trouble..
-
One way you could do 16V is have a separate HO alt and 16V batteries in the back just for your system. Keeps it separate from the rest of your car so you don't need a step-down module.
IIRC the way the MLA mod works is that it tricks the alt into thinking the voltage is lower than it really is, so keeps trying to get up to 'normal' voltage, when it's actually getting higher voltage.
Ok, thanks for some more info. I'm not sure if i can run an extra alt that easy yet? I'm kinda deciding my next ride rite now. Between a 2000 bonneville and a 2004 lesabre...I'm pretty sure that they use the same alts. seeing that they are the same motor..lol DUH...not sure though. But if i can run 2 that would be a verry good option. I could go a little smaller on the alt also because it would just be powering my system.
-
ok 1 having an alt larger than what you need is not bad. All cars actually come like that its like saying that too much money in the bank is bad for your accoutn.
2 you will need to clamp your amps.
3your charging system is already 14 volts. It just uses 12 volt batteries. thats why you should have a running voltage of 14.4 and some amps are rated at that level.
to run at 16 volts you need to either run seperate charging systems or run step down modules. You're factory electronics will not last long with 16 volts
Wow, ok you taught me a bunch there. Ok so what is a step down module and how much are they usually? What do they do? Also why is it bad for my electrical system to be on 16v's? What needs to be changed and or modiffied to suit a 16v system? Will changing from 14v to 16v really make a BIG NNOTICABLE difference? JW? What did you mean by seperate charge system? Like have stock alt for car and h.o. alt. for the system? or what? lol sorry dude just trying to soak up all the knowledge. Not many guys like helping youngsters like me. They just critisize and call us names...Thanks man

Hey, I would like to buy an Oscillscope and a clamp meter. I don't want to spend a fortune on them though. Let me know what you got and how much you would like for them? And any other info you think is necassary. Thanks a lot.
-
The module is like $60 or something like that and the meter is like $125 maybe?? Module up the voltage out of the alt of something
OK, I see. Have you ever clamped your own amps b4? I have done a little looking and i seen somewhere that you need 2 clamp meters to test your amps? Do you know if that is true or false?
-
I think that a thing called an MLA module is needed too but dont qoute me on that...as far as too big of an alt it wont hurt because the system will just pull what it needs...Testing of the amp is called claming it and you need to get a true rms meter a popular brand is fluke...
hope that helps but that is all i know or at least think i know :p:p:p
Ok, thanks for helping me a bit. Is that module something expensive? And do you know what it does exactly? Where do i find one of these meters? and how much do they run?
-
Hey i got a few questions. They are kinda random but i hope some of you guys can help me out. I'm wondering if having too large of an alternator will hurt anything within my vehicle? For an example: say i Had a 300A alt. and only really needed a 240A? Is this bad? I would like to have a larger alt. so i don't need as many extra batts. Also: How do you figure out what actually wattage your amplifier is actually producing? Idk if they call this bench testing or what? And finally: What supplies would i need to convert my charging system to 14v or 16v system? Would i need an h.o. Alt, 14v or 16v batts, larger wire, and is there anything else i would need?
-
Where did you purchase your batts from? And are they 12v, or higher voltage? Just curious? And mite i add this is absolutly CRAZY,INSANE,and ABOSOLUTLY SICK!!!!!! This is gunna be great. Your doing a really nice job too. Just curious how much you have spent on wood alone? LOL...Are you going to have braces inside the box? And Why didn't you deadend the sheet metal B4 building the box?
-
My friend is getting good numbers with his Elcipse. he did some shit with the trunk? I modified his sub for him. It's a 15" RE SE facing forward
-
Hey Guys
i´m still building my Test Ported Box for my first DD 1012. It goes in my EG Hatch.
But, where i should do the port? In front of the Trunk bonet or at top to the Roof? And on which side i should do the Sub ?
Here are two pic´s from it. The first is my idea and the second is the box. I didn´t cut the hole for the sub, caus i´m not sure. Maybe you could help me :)Hope my english isn´t bad as i think . Here in germany it´s 4.20 am So i´m tired
Dude, what kind or program are you using on the computer? You said your from germany? Is that something you bought or what? I mite sound like an idiot, but i try sketching boxes on paint on windows and it sucks, so i quit and sketch it by hand.....lol anyone want to share there favorite computer program for sketching boxes?...lol

AudioQ it is! Would 2 SDC2.5 10's be louder than 1 HDC3 12"?
I don't know for sure, but i would say ya it is likely because the sdc's are 600 continous power each and have 2.3"s of usable throw each. And the hdc would be 1000 watts cont. and 3"s of throw. So i would say ya the 2 tens would be louder on the amp you listed.
-
Thanks for the good comments guys.
I was just walking through Lowes one day and saw those for 97 cents a pipe, and just thought to myself.. i could do something nice with those.
Ya, I think that looks really proffesional. Nice job man. I too hope to do something like this.

Ok, Do you know if it actually will give me a true 1500 rms at each channel?
