  1. My plan is to have two wired in parallel into the 1800 watt amp and the other sub is going to be wired into the 1000 watt amp. All of these subs are in separate enclosures and I'm going to use a distribution block for power wire, separate grounding points six inches apart, signal wire run via rca to the 1800 watt amp then linked with the other amp via an extra set of RCA outs on the former amp.
  2. not sure which amp I'm going to go with yet, actually. I might actually go with another 900 rms amp but the most likely candidate is 500 watts x 1 RMS @ 4 Ohms.
  3. Exactly, can't be too careful. I try and use sellers that are 99%+. I'm searching for competitive prices on AudioSaving.com currently.
  4. I have one 1800 max amplifier and am planning on buying another 1000 watt max amplifier. The 1800 watt amp power 2 1200 max (400rms) subs and the 1000 watt max amp would power 1 1200 max (400rms) sub. These would all be in separate enclosures, ported and built by me.
  5. I've had some success with Ebay. Are there any vendors on the site that might have what I'm looking for? And that's, well, not shit? lol
  6. Ah ok so I'll just use some speaker wire I have lying around. Again, thanks for the help. If I play my cards right, this shouldn't cost me more than $300.
  7. Ok I will begin on this as soon as the funds become available. Let me get this straight so I can start writing it all out. Here's what I'm going to have to purchase withing the next few weeks: 1000 watt amp another 12" 4 gauge wiring kit (power, ground, inline fuse, etc) Distribution block Y-splitter for RCAs Is there anything I'm missing? I'm thinking about running the remote turn on wire from one amp to the other, would this be an issue? And can I use any gauge wire for that? You have no idea how much this is clearing up for me. I appreciate everyone's help!
  8. Well that sucks....not sure what I'm going to do about that then. Will I have to run 2 sets of power/ground from the batter/frame? My brand of wire is KnuKoncepts. It's true 4 gauge.
  9. Hell I'll always be up for upgrading but the cheapest alternative right now would be to just add. Unless you know a secret?
  10. I have another set of output terminals on the amp but they're not intended for subwoofer use to my knowledge. My head unit only has one set of preouts so that's not an option either, unfortunately.
  11. yea they don't accept 0 gauge. I can't imagine that 4 wouldn't be good enough but there's only one way to find out!
  12. Ahh I see. So I couldn't use the distribution block for the RCA cable? And yes, I have each driver in their own enclosure. Takes longer and doesn't look as good but sounds fantastic. As of now all I would have to do is wire for another amp and build another enclosure for the other 12. Oh and what gauge wire would you recommend for the power and ground? I'm running 4 gauge at the moment.
  13. Hey all, I'm planning on purchasing an amp and another 12 to add to my system in hopes of making my Forester sound a little more substantial. One of my only hesitations is that I'm not entirely sure how to hook up 2 amps to the same head unit. The RCA cables have to go to both amps for the signal. My current amp does not have an output for another amp, only for mids/highs. I'm not going to go with a Y just because you're splicing a signal cable and that = a bad life decision. I was thinking about a distributor and that's probably what you all are going to suggest but I just wanted some confirmation. Also, what would I do for the remote turn on wire that goes to my HU? How could I make that also run to my other amp? And my last question, I promise: what are you thought of this setup for my 2000 Subaru Forester? (3) Kenwood KFC-3012 (900watts rms, custom built, ported enclosures) (1) Kenwood KAC-9104D (1800 watts max) (1) Kenwood KAC-8104D (1000 watts max) I'm not planning on getting a cap. just because I'm under the impression that they are only good for hitting single notes, which is not the type of music I listen to. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  14. Awesome, thanks bro this is really helping me out. One last question before I start buying wire. My OEM alternator is a panzy 70 amperes (12v). What gauge wire would you recommend to use for this setup? My lights currently do not dim even with the OEM alt. and OEM big 3. I was planning on using a 300 amp. fuse also but what with the small amperage that might not be necessary to use something that large. Hopefully this is the last of my questions, just want to get it right!
  15. Any tips for building a custom enclosure? I know there's many different ways of doing what with the formulas etc. but is there any generic blueprint? Thanks for the link!
  16. I've got a 600 watt amp w/ 2 12's that came as a group that a friend of mine gave me. Here's the link with specs. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_3522_V...ed+System.html# This is definitely not even mediocre but it still hits. I've replaced the box with a cheap prefab ported enclosure that seems to do a better job. My HU is a Kenwood KDC-MP242. Running 4awg power and grnd wire in preparation for a larger amp. Those should be the only important things at the moment. Hope it helps!
  17. Hey all, this will be my first post to this forum, don't know why I didn't join sooner but here's my questions: I recently added a small system to my Mazda Protege (2 12's, 600w, blah). I'm on a budget so I'm upgrading as I can. I want to get the most out of my crappy amp that I can and am looking into upgrading the "Big 3". Every other resource I have looked at as to how to do this properly has given me different instructions so I wanted to take my questions to the hundreds of bass geniuses that frequent this site. My alternator is hidden under my intake manifold and, though I have not looked too closely, I cannot find the +/- wires that come out of it. Basically, I just need the basic instructions on how to get it done. My other question is how can I tune my amp/subs to hit the lower notes? I do fine on high notes but when it comes to low notes, I can hear them and everything but they sure as hell do not sound as evident as they should. Any suggestions? Thanks for all the help guys.
