goto the home page and at the top youll find members builds, you should find some good ideas in there.
Thanks man, I appreciate it.

if you wnat to go with one sub then do it but look at some of these treads and get you a good idea for a box. cracker just built one and won sotm. do it get lots of pics and post your own build tread. ask the right ?'s and this forum wll provide a lot of help!
Any idea where I can find some of these threads? That sounds like a great plan. I just don't want to put in a sub that won't do what I want it to..
-
Y ask about something that you aren't doing?
Dude I don't know what you're driving at with all of this badgering but I'm trying to explain what's going on. I wouldn't waste my time and yours posting a thread about something I'm not doing. Seriously. Just try and work with what I'm giving you or stop posting to the thread!
-
yeah you CANNOT give these subs dirty power. need to set your gains right
I always try to do my homework before jumping in. I'll do research on the preferred tuning specifications etc.

or he may be lying?? Pics for proof is easy
Unfortunately I already have the system taken out of my vehicle in preparation for resale. But I have videos of when it was installed in my first vehicle if you would be interested in that. Or you can ask me what you are interested in? I wish I could post pics but I just can't unless I put it all back together again.
-
You read through the forums.. And don't put your box on the backseat..
That was solely for testing purposes...not a common occurrence in any of my vehicles.
-
if you got a tight budget i would keep your amp and get 1 se 15 or 18. now if you wanna spend some bread i'd get two and find you an amp that puts out their rated rms or more build you a box and buy earplugs or a hearing aid
I wouldn't mind having just 1 driver if it can be helped. I also have no problem with underpowering a sub for awhile then saving up to get a kickass amp. It's always worth the wait!

OK, NOW I SEE!!
Yes. So that's my issue and I am now trying to address said issue. What are you recommendations?

Pics or lie about feeling no pressure in an SUV with 900 RMS
Not entirely sure why I would deceive you about that but all I know is that I had the 2 12's on the back seat, facing the front, and none of my mirrors vibrated. I know that this is because of the large amount of volume in the vehicle versus the sedan that used to house my system.
-
what kinda 12's
Kenwood 900rms.
-
Why did you feel no pressure with 2 12"s?? You might want to just build a new box...
I know that the boxes on my 12's are fine. I built them myself in communication with the manufacturer so I know that those aren't a problem. I have no idea why I don't feel the pressure...i figured I just needed something with more oomph
-
How do you think that would sound in an SUV with a LOT of open space?
-
So you would recommend 2 15's over 1 18?
-
Hey all! As some of you might know, I've been throwing around different ideas for my new build over the past few days and I think I finally have a good plan, thought it could be about a month before the funds become available to me. Nevertheless, I have some amazing things in store! Anyway, here's my revised plan.
My previous system should be selling for around $3-500 in the next month so that's the only thing I'm waiting on. My first step is to purchase new driver(s). In order to fill the open space of my Subaru Forester I am in the market for a single 18" subwoofer. Thanks to this site, I have discovered AudioSavings.com and have found what I am looking for! I found a great deal on an RE Audio SX series woofer for only $350 and I think that it's feasible. It's 1000watts rms but for now I'm thinking about pusing it with my 1800watt kenwood amp that I currently have, just to see how things go..One problem that I might encounter is the size of the ported enclosure for this sub. I'm having a hard time finding dimensions for this specific model so if anyone could help me out, that'd be amazing! So yea, all I'm really doing right now is trying to get my old system sold, new box built, new sub ordered, and old amp tested. I'm really hoping that this sub will give me the bass I'm looking for. I was really disappointed when I put my 2 12's in my Forester and I couldn't feel any bass pressure at all so this is what I'm trying to solve. Let me know of your thoughts and thanks for checking out this post! Cheers.

Yeah,
well you should just look around, but when you're able to upgrade from Kenwood do it. You wont go back.
Keep me updated man
Will do. And thanks again!
-
Correct. And maybe one or two deep cycle batts on a HO alt to be safe, but you looking at a bit of money.
right you are. maybe once I get a new vehicle I would consider a new alt. But 170k miles is pushing it to be upgrading a whole lot
-
No problem, if you do enough reading through this website you'll find out all you need to know.
Oh and don't run a 1200WRMS amp on a stock electrical. Look to upgrade your electrical as well.
Big 3 upgrade w/ 0/1?
-
Well, the RMS on those subs is 400 Watts x 3 = 1200WRMS somewhere around that power range.
I'll do some looking around. thanks for the help!
-
Yeah, you'll need to step your game up on amplifiers to handle the ohm load though:
Theirs a couple of brands you can choose from, maybe the Sundown-1200D but you'll need electrical upgrades on your car
How many watts do you think would be sufficient?
-
It's like a females, once they go bigger they don't go back...
But anyway I don't see these three subs getting the same power.
That does seem like a problem...so do you suggest I get an amp that can handle 3 12's?
-
I didn't mean to bring you down or anything, it's like this on car audio man, you get what you pay for. Kicker is great starter brand, definately better than Kenwood and they're not expensive. (not too much depending on your budget)
Oh no, no offense taken. I see what you're getting at though. You always get what you pay for. I try to do things right the first time, I've just had outstanding success with Kenwood for a very long time! haha
-
Fucking Kenwood...
I would just look into upgrading from Kenwood as soon as possible.
Now I would just sell and buy a pair of Kickers
I knew it was only a matter of time before I got that suggestion. Too bad I spent so long building everything..
-
Well you could sell the 900W and just get a stronger amplifier to power all three like this:
They're dual 4's right?
svc..
-
Well, unless you're getting a 450W RMS for that 3rd sub, it's gonna get less or more than the rest of the subs depending on the amp you get. You really want that?
And why you so set on different enclosures?
Ah interesting..i didn't think of that. Do you think that that will sound that bad? Or rather, what can I do to make them all have the same amount of power? I'd rather not replace my whole system if I can help it. I use separate enclosures because I already have 2/3 built and might as well make a third. They're easier to take out when I need to haul things and easier to sell if I DO upgrade.
Starting my new build. Here's what I've got in mind..
