  1. well i think i dont what sounds good and whats just bass you know. all ive ever really heard were duals, kickers, bostins, bazookas, a few hifonics, and a set of pioneers. never the higher end stuff like dc's or sundowns.

Kicker has built a reputation over the years for pioneering car audio and they have done this by producing some of the best woofers in their day. Unfortunitley, their reputation will cost you these days. The way I see it is when it comes down to dollars for db's, they aren't worth their shipping cost. What you need to do is go on the db dragracing web site or other sanctioned competition groups group and see whe a show is comming near you. Chances are you will get to experiance so of the finer car audio manufactures out ther and believe me... you won't be dissapointed.

i think i checked a while back they dont really come to southern louisiana much. since i cant drive yet its kinda hard to convince my parents to take me. my dad thinks his 8 on 160 watts is loud lol

Lol! Check MECA they do alot in the south.

  3. I love the reply and avatar combo. Priceless! :pardon:

lol! I have had many L7's & L5's. Used them and abused them, still don't like them any more than their round cousins. I will add that the 12's in my avitar were pushed by a Infinity 1600.1 referance and they did a 141db on the term lab.

how accurate is the power handling that they claim on the website?

I have burped a L7 with a BXI2600 and it took it pretty well. The amazing part was the little amount of excursion it had. They may claim that square is better because it has more cone area than asimilar sized round sub, but the cone needs to travel inorder to push more air. I gave up on them, maybe you can have better luck untill you stop using them?

  4. If the manual says 3.25 cubes per sub then you are looking for a roughly 6.5 cube box. Now, you need to figure out the port, and if that 3.25cube box includes the volume for the port (if it does, you need to figure out the volume the actual subs need to see.. prob closer to 2.5-2.75 cubes per sub... if that.) Then the port area should be around 12-16 sq in. per cu. ft, and the length needs to be calculated using the formula or with a box calculator. Also, that length is going to depend on where you want the box tuned to. Whatever port size you end up with, has a volume, you have to add that to your sub box volume, figure dimensions that work, etc.

Its a lot more work than just doubling port size or volume unfortunately. Theres a lot of people better than me on here with this but hopefully that helps a little bit

Lots of knowledge from you guys. I really appreciate you guys sharing the passion with me. I am going to mess arround with the calculator for a while and I will post what ever comes of it. I will make sure to ack for further assistance in the future. Thanks.

  5. You can't just double measurement unfortunately, you have to redesign the box.

What exactly do you mean? I am going by the manual from KICKER. It says to use a 3.25 cube box with a 3x13.25x14.5 port. I am using 2 L7 12's and i want to have only one port. How do I convert the port calculations for each sub to come up with one port? i am new to all of this so any help for the newb would be great. Thanks.

  6. Quick question for you guys. I want to build a subs up port back enclosure for my 2-L712's but my problem is, I am looking @ the Kicker manual and it has the dimensions for 1 slot port. I am using 2 subs but I only want 1 port. Do I just double the port size or what??? Kickers dimensions are (3"x13.25"x14.5") I want to build the big box, 3.25 cubes per sub. Any help would be appreciated.

  7. I want to get 4 15's for my car they will be going in the trunk with a blow though of sorts. I know im going to have to go with a cheap brand but im looking to spend 500 or so on the subs. I know thats not much but if you had to go with something sheap what would you pick?

I'm not sure about this place, but ikesound.com has a good selection and good prices. They have RE SX 15's for $145. They have all kinds of good brands and some junk too. Check em out bro.
