For me, its not just the cost of the damplifier. There are others cheaper than second skin, but this isn't my deterrent. It's the shipping. I get rattletrap 200sq ft for $316 shipped. Shipping to Alaska almost KILLS any deals I may be able to get.
To the OP...do you have a lot of experience applying damplifier correctly? Rattletrap is one of the easiest foils I ever applied. Laid my truck down in moments.
First time I applied damplifier was a few years ago and then when I did my cavalier last year was a time consuming process using rattletrap but it works so I'm gunna order that up again. Sorry about the delayed response my mom had a stroke last night so been dealing with getting stuff set up to get her back home in a timely manner.

From personal experience here in minnesota they aren't illegal but I have caught some crap from cops about it a few times being an obstruction of view crap but haven't gotten a ticket for the wall itself bass ticket from a cop who dislikes my family is another story lol.

Oh and while I'm thinking about it do any of ya think this build will be worthy of a build log lol. Kinda tiny compared to what I've been reading is coming soon and when should I start one if so? Already got the infinity kappas 6.5s in and a kenwood 4channel with a 980bt premier hu got pics of all the stuff installed

80mil....you mean rattletrap? I use rattletrap and haven't found much comparable at a decent price shipped to Alaska. I will say the audiotrchnix gets very close. It's like $6 more
Yeah rattletrap.. I mean it worked wonders on my cavalier but was such a pain in the ass to work with took me forever to get that car done I don't know may just order that again I have been browsing a lot and can't find much of anything comparable as far as I can tell price/quality/quanity wise.
-
Try here
Haven't heard much about audiotechnix stuff anyone weigh in on if its any good? I've used fatmat before on my cavalier and was kinda a pain to work with and I've also used dynamat and was decent to work with but way overpriced. Also forgot to mention its level 4 18's if that makes a difference in what thickness or layers I should put on roof and such.

90 bucks for not even 40 sq ft. Is a steep price for me I think. Not sure how much I will need atm honestly I know the roof and cargo area need to be done cuz I am throwing my dc level 4's into it after I get them reconed 99 chevy blazer by the way if anyone knows roughly what I should look at getting for sq ft.

Looking for links to comparable deadener for same price or closer found 100sq ft of fatmat 80mil for 154 shipped getting ready to start build on my blazer I picked up. Any suggestions or help would be great

big subs and small cars are super fun, have alot of fun building that box !!
and try to keep your rearview mirror on, ohio is gay and makes them required, atleast thats what ive been told by a few cops.. so side mirrors and rearview..
i know the law in minnesota regarding mirrors is you have to have the driver side mirror and either the rearview or the passenger side mirror for it to be legal, i haven't had a rearview mirror since a week after i put my 12's into the trunk, rattled off and shattered when it landed on the shifter

its a 97 cavalier, and am buying the second DTR 2200.1 simply for the fact i plan on going bigger with 18's in the near future, looking at stepping up to XL's or level 5's not sure atm, but yeah its just going to be 2200rms on 2 level 4's for the time being

One Question for anyone that might know..... How illegal if at all is it going to be for me to full wall this car in Minnesota? just curious how much heat if any this will bring onto me with cops lol
-
Well after much debating and hmmming and haaaing over what to get the past few months, i finally ordered subs today from DC, thanks btw for the chat rusty, 2 level 4 18's with an amp i ordered today also a soundstream DTR 2200.1, should be banging in my little cavalier, plan on getting a second DTR 2200.1 when i have some more money to spend in a month or so. Going full wall in my cavi so will post some pics next week when we start the tear down of my car, thanks everyone who helped with ideas and such... I know this may be hard to hear, but just do 1 big boy 15 right now. That way, you can put it in a properly designed enclosure and, with some power, will knock the trunk off that cavilier.
Later, if you decide to upgrade, you can get another 15 and amp and stuff it in the trunk despite what everyone thinks.
Any ideas what i should get for one 15 and an amp Ben?

With 4 subs like that, you where probably get a shit ton of cancellation, I would of done 2 subs on the face of the box and two subs on the top of the box if you where going that route, either that or wire the subs opposite backwards so they arent trying to push against eachother.
ahh wasn't same box sorry didn't clarify, was 2 separate boxes, wasn't well set up at all lol, but it worked for me then, am looking to drop 2grand to 2500 on subs and amp so looking for a decent set up and ideas of what i should put in there, only got a few weeks to get it all priced out and get my order ready for when taxes get here lol
-
Other option if ya'll have any ideas for a banging set of 12's toss em my way please lol sub/amp combo

This^^^^^^^^
Unless you are really handy with fiberglass and want to build a more or less permanent box in your trunk its not gonna happen in the trunk with the 15's. I know 2 12's in the trunk of my GrandAm take up the majority of the trunk. The largest I could go is maybe about 5.5-6 cubic feet, Max.
Was thinking about Half walling it, and i had 4 12's in my old cavalier, 2 facing trunk 2 facing forward backseat folded down at all times tho and as far as the 15's i am looking to build a permanent box with fiberglass if i go that route, only problem will be figuring out ports if i go that way

Heya everyone new to this website and was looking for some expertise on what i should shoot for with the new system i am building over the next few weeks <amps subs wiring batteries> i just bought a 97 cavalier 2 door and was wondering how big everyone thinks i could and or should go.. i was thinking about 2 Fi BTL 15's or 3 BTL 12's and a pair of sunstream dtr1 2200's, if anyone has any idea setups for a cavalier or what else i should toss in.. if ya have any other ideas subs/amps toss those at me to
Thanks everyone in advance
