  1. ok so i was thinking of a cd i used to pound way back when that i ended up loosing . i cant for the life of me remember what the name of it was . its a compliation cd of a bunch of no limit records stuff . all i remember is there was like 30 or 40 songs on it (none were full length) and every song was over dubed with the next so they all "blended" together . if my mind serves me correctly the only song i do remember is #16 i think was "pass me the green" . if anyone know what im talking about please dont hesitate to reply . this is buggin the hell outta me . p.s. google was of no help :(

  2. every sub has its own charictoristics . so one isnt going to be nessasarly louder than the other . we could be of more help if you posted what you plan on using you system for , if you want to worry about adding alts/batts , what kinda car , what music , and what kinda numbers you are lookin for.. 8)

  3. XXX6500's don't even make 4kw on 12v. Maybe close to 4kw at 14.4v, the ratings on them are bulk lies.

I'd allow for 16kw of output, maybe 75 % efficiency plus some highs amps so I would be budgeting for 22kw worth of dc current.

    So roughly 1500A @ 14.4v but that's just ridiculous.

Realistic musical current draw is between 25 and 50% of total, so you're looking at 375-750A sustained.

If you want to bang on it for hours on end, try for 500+A of alternator and 400+ Amp Hours of battery.

2x 250A alts and 5 D3100's would keep it going all day every day, IMO.

thank you so much for gettin right to the point .. thats what i needed. it wont be pounded on for hours at a time but maybe 1-2 hrs at half volume with maybe a burb somewhere in there to let my presence be known . thanks again man . i appreciate it ! on the hunt for some POWER :)

  4. It is. It is also still a whole ton of current to be pulling, so I would have to agree with other in saying get more batteries than you can count on one hand at the least.

ok thats no problem .. i just dont want to have more battery than my alts can keep up with .. ran into that with my lowrider and the batterys for the draulics. anyway i shouldnt have a problem running at least 8 because i have 10 left over from the lowrider . they are the big deka industrial batts. though . are those ok to run as audio cells?

  5. Im not sure where you got 15K from, but the XXX6500D's do 6500watts @ 1 ohm, so 4 @ 1 ohm = 26,000. So, @ 14Volts you're looking at approximately 1850 amps of current draw...

Dom has been MIA, hence why Steve Meade, is now using Mechman alts. Shoot them a PM or Email, you have a better chance of seeing God than getting a reply back from Dom...

ok will do on the PM & holy %^@* . 1850 amps of draw ?! so i need 2K + amps on demand ?

  6. GEEZE ! that many batterys ?! i didnt think it would take that much . thanks dub7 for that formula i think ill mess with it and try to comee up with something ..

i sent dom an email from irragi and see what he reccommends , but i was just curious on how to figure this out for myself . (if i just keep asking for the answers how will i learn anything) might be a stupid question but are so "many" batterys needed? i kinda was thinking with the alt upgrades 1/amp would have done the trick .. then again ive never ran more than 3 amps and even then i only had 2 aux. batts.

  7. ok so i know its not uncommon to run big systems with not enough power, or its not uncommon to see rather. so how much power IS enough ? i dont want to starve my setup or just barely squeese buy , but i dont want to overkill it ether. so whats the formula to determine how many alts. (if i need more than 1) how many batts. if any extra , how many supply amps the alts have to be to run efficent ? i am installing (4) soundstream xxx6500's so i dont need anything to crazy ie : SMD's charging system or JP's quad setup but i want to have the power i NEED . thanks in advance for any help. take care guys !

  8. Ok so I have a 1979 gmc 1 ton 4wd Dually . I had to put in a new flexplate (168 tooth) and I put in a new starter also . The new starter grinds like a mofo! Went and bought another .. Same problem . Bought another , same problem . Shimms don't work , everywhere I go they say " wellthats what it calls for " .. Yea right .. I mean they don't even start the truck , they just grind the piss out of my new flexplate . Ie here'd that they changed starters sometime back in the early 80's and I need the first gen . I've also herd that I need a long throw starter .. Can't seem to find one anywhere . Any thoughts on what I need to do to fix this or where I can find a long throw starter ? Ps: it's a offset bolt starter also .

  9. I been back and forth a hundred times with google and eBay ect. I'm looking to buy the razorblade necklace dime used to ware . I found a few thru google but they are cheap as hell. I can't ware anything cheap , I'm alergict to anyhing not white gold , or sterling silver . So my question is where can I find a razor necklace like dimes that's of good quality ? Any ideas ?

  10. don't ruin the stock cat just yet. if there is a muffler shop in your area have them make you a 3" straight pipe with 2 flanges so its a direct replacement of the cat. just incase you need the cat to be present for emissions reasons, you can just bolt the stock cat back up without having to cut away the new pipe

now that I think about it, replacing that cat with a straight piece of 3" piping should free up a BUNCH of power!

ok , i think im just going to strait pipe it , i live in michigan so we can pritty much get away runnin open headers . whats really confusing about the truck when it does its loading up thing , is it only happens once in a while . i drove it for about 6 hours yesterday , and it would do it out of the blue , like if i stopped at a light it would run great good take off and everything , 7 lbs of boost , then at the next light it would want to stall at a stand still , and when i went to take off on green it would spit and sputter , maybe a backfire in there too untill it got to a high rpm and then it just smoothed out and boost kicked in and she took off. but the weird thing is it just does this at random .. how could it run great , and then all of a sudden not want to run at all ? thats my biggest concern with it at the moment .

  11. I thought so too until I watched my old auto teacher drill out his pulley on his supercharger and all noise went away. but that was with a different style supercharger so it could be different

actually, do you have a stock cat on there? it could be built up with carbon causing the exhaust flow to be restricted until you hammer it which will eventually be too much airflow for the build up to restrict

damn good point , it does have edlebrock headers , and 3 " duals , BUT ....... stock cat .. i know go figure . maybe the ole baseball bat trick or maybe just a nice peice of strait pipe is in order :D

  12. I can't answer your question about no power but the whining sound comes from air getting trapped between the belt and pulley. there are plenty of prochargers that don't make a sound. I've seen people drill holes in the pulley so it's stealth, the belt could be a little loose, or any number of things

really ?!?! i thought the whining came from the gear mesh in the unit itself? thats crazy . but bare with me i have never owned a S/C motor before:)
