why didnt you use the CA glue on the spider and the jbweld on the surround?
cause that ca glue drys crazy fast so i didnt think id have enough time to get everything alined idk i did what i did and its done and its dried and im very happy
-
so when you bought the recone why didnt you just throw some ca glue in the cart right from fi? thats what i did and it all came in the box and did my recone lol. i dont understand why you would use jb weld and not ca glue. also if you have a local hobby shop you can buy ca glue there for decent price. i guess we will see the carnage when you post up the pics after a few days lol
why do you think it wont hold?
-
o well to late now i still got one more recone to do of my other se so ill be mindfull to use the right stuff next time. has anyone here used jbweld on a recone if so what kinda results did u have
-
i was told to buy thick ca glue by a member i didnt look to well on the ebay listing and turns out it wasnt foam safe idk i just hope the jb weld holds i think it will if not live and learn
-
nope just good or bad. my camera kinda sucks and makes it look orange its really a nice fire red the fi sign matches perfect and theres some tape on the motor that makes it look bad. personally i think it turned out really really well very sexy and i couldnt be happyer

any sugestions for soldering my leads im unsure on how much slack is to much or not enough
-
i mean it layed well and stuck as soon as i droped the cone in its stuck its just not fully hard yet so now its just a waiting game
Ya know what else acts exactly like this? Honey, or grease, or poop. How do you know its going to hold up.
You can't say that it will work fine until you throw it in the box and turn the bish up.
ya your right ill just have to wait and find out i got a lil peace of it next to me so when that piece is hard ik my sub is

i would never recone with JB weld
how come? i already did its worked pretty well just put it in a syringe and laid down an nice neat bead
lol you keep saying it worked well but here you are asking about why it isnt hard. you wont know if its a good bond until it breaks, or doesnt.

cure time for jb quick is 4 hours
another thing im getting ready to solder my leeds how do ik how much slack to leave
-
jb quick takes 4 im gona wait a lil longer though
-
To me, personally I wouldnt used jb weld. I'll would use CA glue, or epoxy(last resort)
i already did and it worked really well im just worried that becouse i did a lil less that 1.1 ratio that it wont fully harden
-
now im kinda sketchy that i didnt use enough hardener the jb weld on a piece of cardboard is still pliable does anyone know if u use a little less then a 1.1 ratio if itll still harden and just take longer im getting kinda scetched out
-
well i got my recone from fi today it almost looks like they hooked me up with a flatwound coil cause the coil isnt rounded at all nice and flat but everything went together perfectly and so smoothly i was actually suprised used jb weld quick and everything stuck first try got close pins on the surround nothing on the spider atm its stuck snug. just figured id share with everyone my moment of happyness

lube lubes and the long pipe you put on ur wrench and pull from the far end puts more torgue on the wrench making it easyer on you.
