  1. what are your best suggestions for learning how to drive using your side mirrors (as my new sub box comes up about 3/4 of my rear windshield so i put my sub box in my carto learn how to drive without my rearview)

any good tips? - please dont make fun of me lol im used to it shaking but i am not used to not having the ability to see through it if i turn it down haha

its not really that hard honestly, after mine snapped clean off i just delt with it, it was werid at first but now i dont even use the rearveiw when im in another car lmao, just sucks my drivers sideveiw broke now, its a break away mirrior that doesnt lock into place, all thanks to bass......that rhymed lmao

  2. Mechman used to (idk if they still do this anymore) but rihgt near the heatsink on the back of your alternator where the regulator is there is a tiny screw in there. I dont have a pic but there was one on here somewhere. They only had these in the regulators with the red painted heatsinks. If your alt has this then it will be a pain in the butt to get to sometimes depending on your engines setup but all you need to do is get behind there and turn the screw a little to adjust it. It will be the same procedures as posted by crunkjuice but the adjustment screw is in the back of the alt.

If you can look at the back of your alt and look in particular where the small and short heatsink is. If its painted red then you should have this, if its not then you prob dont have it. If you dont see it post a pic of the rear of your alt and i can see whether you have it or not.

this is the best i can get right now

    giving any demos?

    all day man

Its the brass screw in the harness trust me i was so confused and asked eric cause i was like that small thing?!

wrong, im using the stock harness, hence im confused, i dont see anything on the alt to turn, matt had said id beable to adjust the voltage, if i cant fine i cant deal with that, id like to be at 15volts cold though

    giving any demos?

Who is this directed toward, me or the op?

    OP...he lives close to me

    where at?

  3. Do it at 15.1v cold. The instructions that come with the alt tell you to run car at around 2000rpm and with lights and/or AC on to simulate a light load on the alt. that way you will set voltage output at alt correctly.

If you have the cash do a 14v battery under hood and two in the back and add another if you have too.

Theres nothing wrong staying at 12v either, just do like a S340 under the hood and a D3100 or two in the rear. As you can see you will spend which ever way you go. If things cost about the same I'd run the 14v for the voltage edge.

lmao if it comes with instructions then obviously just do what it says, i dint know instructions were included haha. and yea your car should be fine running at 14v you just have to be careful above certain voltages you could f up your cars computer / electronics the limit is usually around 16v but many cars are picky.

exactly, id rather just play it safe and keep 12v for the time being, thank you for all the replys, now i just need to find some batts on the cheap

  4. set it at 15v COLD with lights on, have someone rev your engine to about 2000rpm check voltage with DMM at the front battery. It will come down to safe level of mid 14v as car and the day warms up and goes by.

with the lights on? i dont get why, isent that draining more power?

im just confused on what voltage range a 14v system is...i know a 12v system is not 12 volts, i rest at 13.8 with the engine warm

Xs d1400s id do at least 4 or more for that power 14v is the best made a huge difference in my system

i dont think rooms an issue but id like to have as little batterys as possible because im cheap lmao, but id rather not have massive voltage drop lol, the 1400s are 14v correct?

  5. so i bought a 270 amp large case alt for my jeep, matt @ mechman was telling me that it has a adjustable voltage on the alt it self, something like the stinger voltmeters....now heres where my problem lies, i wanna run it as a 12 volt system for now until i can obtain a decent battery bank of 14volt battery's , what voltage is a good "12 volt" system voltage? matt suggested that 16 some odd volts would be a good range for a 14 volt system, but how about a 12volt system? also what batts would you recemend for around 7k watts roughly on that 270 amp alt? right now i have a red top and a HC1400, but as a 14volt system what would you suggest front batt and back batts? im open to any brands

thanks! look for the rebuild starting sometime in sept/oct!
