  1. Gain is like sensitivity I think. Sound right?

What could be my issue here anyways?

At first, one sub wouldn't play, I opened the box, and I had forgotten to plug it in. Then, it still wouldn't play, and I had forgotten to plug in the - terminal. FAIL. Could I have damaged the amp?

so no subs will play off the amp now?

and no the gain is pretty much the "limiter" to let power flow though the amp....thats in simple terms

  2. The gain is full (cause I'm not getting loud sound!) & ahh. I see. & I believe so it's either that or 180. What is phase anyways?

if you were to flip the subs so the magnet was faceing out, and the cone facing in, then you would put it on 180, other wise its at 0, checking your wiring and make sure the phase is at 0, the wiring is the only thing i could see to keep it from being loud at this point

and turn that gain down to 6 or 7

  3. The options on the back are the gain, the punch bass or something, and the phase. I don't know about them. But, I figured they were fine since the subs sound fine solo.

whats the gain at? the punch bass is (bass boost) you can turn it up a tad, like to 1 or 2 but not much more, thats just asking for clipping, is the phase at 0 degrees?

  4. The box is a simple prefab and well it works well enough when the subs are solo. They're just really, really quiet together. Not nasty sounding.

that's the problem then, prefab. always make your own box so you know the tuning of it. but it very well may be the wiring problem too

since i have nothing better to do.....prefabs do indeed suck, but there good for the simple install, small power, low power subs, other then that they suck, its most likly the wiring, or the settings on the amp

im pretty sure on that amp theres a subsonic setting, mess with that, as well as the crossover or LPF, is the amp switched to LP(low pass), not HP(high pass) or FR(full range)

  6. the majority of US school systems are completly and udderly stupid, were taught for a week, take a test, next topic, taught for a week, test, next topic, theres not nearly enough time for anything to sink in, thats why so many kids get confused and frustrated in school, thats how i was, i was just starting to pick up the new topic and BAM test, new topic, its annoying, i picked up tid bits in highschool, i learned more in the 3 months i was at trade school then i did in my 3 years of highschool( my towns highschool is 10-12, jr high is 8-9) so i consider my "highschool exp." as 3 years

okay end rant, NEW TOPIC! <_<

  7. It worked though. It wasnt pretty and I wouldnt do it on any equipment I have now but sometimes the tinsel leads are not engineered very well and a recone will likely just delay this from happening again.

Are the breaks possibly from bottoming the sub out? Or from normal use?

im gunna take a wile guess and say sub abuse, either over powering(if they burnt up) or over excursion/botteming it out

  8. i got a dc level 4 18 and last night sub started sound real scratchy and bad for a second then it quit. took it out of the box and found at 1 tinsel lead on each side broke. i wanted to know is it possible to replace the leads so i don't have to spend a bunch on a recone. thanks

I have before but it was a little bit crappy of a fix. Different subs also. I used some 450lbs test picture hang wire and soldered that to the original tinsel lead and then to the terminal. Had the same problem and same fix for 3 of the same woofers. After many different materials tried the picture hang wire was the best in my case anyways. GL

thats some ghetto rigging right there...your safest and most reliable is going to be a recone, what kind of power were you running to it? m1's? or m2's? also box specs? how old is it?
