  1. you have to subtract the thickness of the board you are building with( this includes the port cause your building it out of the same mdf) thats port L X W X H devided by 1728 of your port. that will be the volume of air inside your box that the port is taking up.your speaker will take up some too but the manufacturer

    will give you thise numbers.( this part is not really that important unless your competeing for SPL or DB DRAG.

  2. and the port size is up to you,it depends on what frequency you want the box tuned to. now port tunning and the cross over frequency that you tune the sub to are two seperate things,so don't get that part mixed up. the first thing you want to know is how many cubic feet of air space both subs will require and how many cubes you have in your car or wherever the box is going.it's at this point you can decide how you want to build your box.

  3. yea so i just found out who SMD is, i have been into audio for a long time( got out for about 10 years) now i am back. this seemed like the place for me to post this. my rig is:

    1995 dodge ram 1500 ext SLT

    mods cold air,full roller motor 5" skyjacker susp lift 3" body sitting on 35-12.50 17( i am working on gettin 37 on 19)

    audio mods: 2 power bastards 220 amp alts 1 xs 2700 2 xs 3100 custom dis blocks 2 15" sx RE AUDIO 1 18" sx RE AUDIO in a custom built box sprayed with line-x.each 15 is being pushed by a RE AUDIO 2000 DE V2 the 18 is being pushed by 1 RE AUDIO 4000DE V2 mids are 1 RE 3 WAY 6 BY IN EACH DOOR WITH 1" tweets being pushed by 1 RE 1600.4 v2 in the back are a set of RE 6.5 and 1" tweets pushed bay 1 RE 1600.4.
