x2 i look forward to see this build or haha
oh damn hahah
I still gotta earn a bit more money before I can buy the woofers, for now I can get started on the box
thx for the box software
-
ok. your gonna want about 130 to 160 sqinches of port for a 9 cube box
I'll make the port dimensions smaller
I'm making a box with a square port
thx for all ur help
-
r u doing 4000 total or each?
sorry if I didn't make it clear enough, 2 amps per sub, one for each coil, 4000W per sub
4 amps in total.
should I go with 2 channel amplifiers instead? so that I would have 2 amps instead
-
yea its barried lol just wait im sure someone will chime in. but if u want loud earth shaking bass 2 18 inch btl's on 4000 watts in a box about 9.5 to 10 cubes will do it for sure. just make sure u have the correct port area and NO clipping and the alts and batts to back it up it will be stupid loud
In my current design in "bassbox", my port area is around 500-600 cubic inches. Is that enough?
for my amp, I'm getting the hifonics BXi2010D
-
oh i was gonna say there are several different specs that have q in it. i could be wrong but i think we had a topic about that. and it more about how the sub is built. like the motor weight, coil, suspension, stuff like that that u need to look for. someone please correct me if im mistaken
oh if you can, redirect me (or anyone) to that page plz
I'm still learning about this stuff.

Q value?
yeah, Q value as in
Qes, Qts
-
no not really.
LOL alright thx man
Is lower Q value better for ported enclosure? and Higher Q for sealed?
I'll try adding a cubic feet more. When it comes to adding more volume, it's hard to fit it all in a sedan
-
I think maybe he has each Q in a sealed chamber, which in turn WOULD fill up space in the BTL box,
but im lost on the idea of tuning the sealed enclosure.
You are absolutely correct
it's impossible to tune a sealed enclosure? isn't it the bigger the box, the lower it hits?
Maybe I stand corrected
-
I'm a n00b at this thing, since I got my first car, I wanna do something to it
When I meant more woofers in the box, i meant woofers, not PR
So I'll re-upload a photo.
My new design

If I understand you correctly, I am just going to say that you are gong to have some trouble achieving both high SPL and SQ off of the same build. If you aren't looking to seriously compete, I would throw the BTLs into the 8 cubes and tune it around 36-38 Hz and throw out the Q's. On 10,000 watts, you will be loud.
sorry for being such a n00b, but why is it gonna have trouble reaching high SPL?
-
25hz is too deep to really feel. I would much rather see a third 18 back there with an overall tuning of 30Hz. Just my opinion...
I heard adding more woofers in the box can help it play lower. Am I right?
-
what do u mean by that?
It means, it can play below 30hz without too much drop in SPL.
Does it make it muddier to tighter sounding?
-
i dont see it working that well. what are you wanting to get out of it
I want SPL and deep bass extension
feel free to alter my picture if you want
I might change the sealed enclosure to .65 cubic feet if I have to
-
I have a sub enclosure design that I will make in the future. I want SPL and deep bass extension, so this is what I came up with
For the BTLs, it will have 8.5 cubic feet, as for the Qs, each sub will get .5 cubic feet.
What do you guys think? I'm not sure if the Qs will get tuned to 25Hz with just only .5 cubic feet of space though
