Is the manual posted anywhere? Also wondering how much watts can you shove into this before it fails?
-
DD´s ave very sensitive at day 1, yes you need some breaking in period, talking about my own experience
what part snapped?
-
motor is key. go on caco forums there are lots of guys selling motors.
-
first find a motor in your budget.
-
you have to know what your looking for. gap size, former length is something so small but makes the sub. most other parts are similar. if you need it stiffer add a spider.
what differences are you looking for?
-
no its not. anyone have a nice sub to run this type of test?
-
usually custom subs surface from parts laying around to make a sub.
any reason why you want to build one?
there are tons of subs to do do what you want it to do in market now.
-
its just about suspension. progressive spiders have different tolerance at different points. if you beat the hell out of it out the box the weakest point of the spider is going to get weaker. the sub will work but may not play as intended by the manufacture.
ive done a sweep on a properly broken in sub and a sub given hell. no difference. test was done on a cheap ass woofer though.
-
as for knowledge... google, youtube: building subwoofer, recone subwoofer, how its made speaker, ext.
-
-
after reconing i typically do a break in process just to test the glue is holding properly.
to me breaking in is just the time that it takes to loosen the suspension. i typically give it hell out of the box.

hay team bassick what part of cali do you live? shitty thing is im in honolulu so i would need batteries boated over using aloha freight located in compton.
-
ok just looked at the site. so i simply use the 12 volt post to run my 12 volt system?
this seems very feasible.
-
how would i run my 12 volt without a step down?
-
i dunno. i see guys pulling 10volt on 12 volt set ups all day. i know its not good. talking to some battery manufactures they say running the battery down like that is shortening the life of the battery but technically its ok on deep cycles.
back on the 16v topic. i have a 01 sequoia so dual alts wont happen. i have a 300amp mechman in there now but i rely on battery bank due to no way in hell am i fitting another alt in there. im going to have to isolate and step down the voltage for the rest of mt 12 volt system.
for that is why my concern is voltage drop.
-
at what point on voltage drop did you feel you should back off?
-
i ran my sd 12ks on 16 volts all the time i use the kintic 16v batts i have 8 for sale right now for 120 a batt and alts to go with them they charge at 19 volts and have a 12 volt side for your car
i had no issues with running 16 volts to a 12 k not sure on the 16k i would start at 17.p.9 volts for db drag and drop to 16.5 volts during bass race i had 15 total batts for 2 12k's
what did your batts voltage rest at?
-
can we please oh please stop pushing the 12 volt issue, maybe talk to me about what makes the 16 volt unstable?!?
on another topic i ask about lithium and i get bashed on why not just run a 16 volt system. now this....
-
ok. i still would like to be enlightened about the 16 volt systems.
everything we do is not cost effective. having 2 16ks is far from cost effective. making the most of a system is the game right?
-
well that still leaves me curious. anyone running 16 volts to chime in?
-
-
i never ran one before.
what kind of amps are you running and what kind of voltage drop do you guys see?
how low voltage can you go before you loose major amperage output from the battery?
reason im asking is because im going to start a build on my 2 sd 16ks and im debating on going 16 volts. i remember seeing in a thread that murillo said its best to run a 12 volt system for daily system on these amps. i want to get the best results but want to know what im getting my self into.
-
im just asking at what point of price would a lithium be more appealing?
-
what would be a fair price for it?
