what #s is it doing in the mid 30s?
-
i see your point and agree.
only way i see this working is if someone doesnt have space. if you could only fit 3 group 31s you could double that power in the same amount of space.
im kind of in that situation. no way in hell is my alt going to keep up with my amps. i rely on battery bank.
-
this is for car audio. it can charge off an alternator. i was just saying it can be used to replace a starter battery, for some reason i thought people would understand by replacing it as a car starter battery it makes scene to charge off the alternator.
im using a group 31 as an example because the performance characteristics would be similar.
-
whats the point of using it for a starter battery?
kinda pointless to drop that kind of money on a battery.
And Im pretty sure XS Power has this technology on lock down compaired to other companies if there are any (not something I really go looking for), but im sure the other lithiums wont run off a alt, and the XS batteries will be the first.
and besides, why would you initially use a group 31 for a starter battery if its not being used for car audio at all like you just said.
Pointless.
im not saying to use it as a starter. just that it can.
im just getting a feel for this.
lets try to keep xs out of this i got it. you feel xs is god when it comes to batteries...
-
im not talking about xs.
if there was a lithium battery that can charge off an alt. no problem. you can use it as a starter replacement.
is it worth it?
-
could you see yourself spending $850-$950 on a lithium battery to replace a group 31 105ah battery?
pros:
half the size of a led group 31
1/4 the weight
%99 charge after full discharge
higher voltage after load
double the cycle use than led deep cycle batts
higher resting voltage 13.2-13.4 volts
is it worth it?

Get a GPS tracker with fuel cut for next time it happens. Sucks that it happened.
i have a tracker on mine and real good insurance.

ok i just got back from a trip and i tested some things...
first problem i should of mentioned was my stock alt is the oval 3 prong type. the alt i got is a square 4 prong.
matt sent me the adapter that drops in before the volt booster. i gotta call matt cause the volt booster harness is not clicking in, i can pull the volt booster harness off on both ends without pushing the release.
i noticed the volt booster blue wire (with the pot) on the 4 prong plug does not meet up with the 3 plug adapter but the voltage was boosting (erratically)may be because the voltage harness cant plug in to lock.
i did top off the batts with an external charger. the batts rest at 12.9 with the car off.
disconnected the volt booster and it idles at 12.6 at ~600rpm goes up to 13.6 at 2000rpm.

Yes. Running 7 agm batts. I'll try setting on cold start like you said. I hope that's it.
-
It's an 01 Sequoia. Did run a neg cable to the chassis. Never test the resistance on the ground yet.
-
my new mechman 300 alt drops to 12.5 on idle, but on rev using their voltage boost controller ramps up to 14.6 where i set it to at 1000rpm.
this does not seem normal...
my car idles at ~600rpm, pully is smaller than stock and the belt is tight enough.
any input on this would be appreciated.
-
which bypass module do you have?
-
stick your head to the front where the mic goes thats where the 153s at.
alts not in yet... waiting on mechman to one day air the harness which was 2 days ago...

The XXXs are nice. I don't know exactly what a TSNS cost, but if it's less than the XXX, I'd get two of those or the DC Level 5s. I think you'd be happier with either of those last two subs.
Like was said, though, if you get a couple TSNSs, it'll be high to give them both the power they want. You'd be looking at 10k.
Also, if you're looking to stay with RE, I'd recommend the MT over the XXX anyway. They're pretty beasty.
all the subs you listed do totally different things...
the tsns and xxx are to closest in sound but the tsns will put out more.
mt and lvl5 get loud when you put the power to it but no way in hell do they get as deep as the xxx.
if your sticking with the xxx they wont take more than 4k each and they just wake up at 2k each imo.
And if you get XXX subs, make sure your car is running or you might blow the sub
oh yeah??? yes the xxx does not take clipped signals well at all!!! ive never seen so much smoke poof out of a box like the xxx does.
as for the dude about cone area. that 1 xxx felt like it moved more air on the lows than 4 lvl5s both set ups ive ran are on the smaller side of enclosures.

xxx enclosures are HUGE. moves a ton of air though. i own 2 18s myself. if i run them i just have to cap off 2 of my 4 18s in a common chamber for my lvl5s

Which model is the pioneers? I did mine at 1.75 with 16 per of port tuned to 38 they took it great. If you want tune lower try 13 per.

hard to tell with the angle you took it. what was the fuse rating?

steam machine.

im using an 11k2d. stock electrics, no big 3, 8x g34 blue tops on .5ohm daily. cranked the hell out of it all day at our last comp did great.
things i dont like about the amp is the damn fan. soooo loud! also wish it had stereo input and wish it had a knob with a clip light instead of the clip light on the amp.
other than that it has great power. cant wait to hook up my 300a alt.

i used to do everything myself until the amount of time it would take me to do it just wassnt worth it.
ex. to just change my oil i would have to go to the store and buy oil and a catch. spend time changing my oil, then get the oil properly disposed... that could take over 2 hours. when i could just go to jiffy lube and get it done in 15 mins. that time saved it worth the 10 bucks i would of saved doing it myself but in actuality i loose money cause if i spent that time working i could pay for 10 oil changes.
shitty thing... i was an installer built tons of boxes and i had someone build my box i designed. he did a good job. but again he needs the money and the cost to time just didnt make sense for me to build my own box.
is litium worth the $$$

good points. i dont know if your aware of it but lithium has higher ratings compared to what we use now across the board if we go by casing size. its just the price is right up with it across the board.
im not willing to step up to 16 volt and no way can a dual alt fit in my 01 sequoia. if you or anyone can get me a bracket with out losing anything id pay top dollar for it.
edit: even with a dual set up i still would need a huge bank.
