  1. as much as i wanted to keep my alt stock. it took 4 days for my batts to charge back up after the comp.

soooo.... talked to mechman and i got a 300a built for me with a volt boost controller.

the boost controller is at the alt and im planning on boosting my voltage up until my amp shuts off which i believe is 14.8.

my question is, with my voltage at 14.8 what will keep my alt from overcharging my batts?

  2. Im just wondering, do you guys even run your subs through design programs? i know some of you guys have 18"s as 30 hz which is good, but if you put the numbers down in design you play at like -5db@30 hz. Just a little curious if you guys even take the extra step to ACTUALLY design a box. not trying to thread jack or bash.

Also, if you find the specs on the lvl 5 i would love to have them to put in a BBP file. qes, qts, qms, fs, vas, so forth : )

kind of hard to put these subs in a design program without specs.

had to do the push the cone down and pull it up by hand test, put a battery to it and see how far it moved up test, stick a screwdriver to the magnet test, play it free air on sweeps with my hand on the cone test. that was just foreplay.

it came down to building the box for a starting point and adjusting for what i wanted it to do. im pretty happy with them. knowing i have a lot more i can get out of my system is what excites me.

  3. I highly recommend dealing with DC.

Unfortunately i got a bad recone that separated spider and cone from the former. I was all sick last night worrying about this because i just got the recone and it instantly popped. Rusty had me send him pics of the damage, he explained to me what he thinks has happened and is sending me a new kit and some other goodies!!!

Ive recently stopped pushing this other brand because the support Ive been getting was WAY under par.

Come these next comps ill be reppin DC hard!!!

  4. Of all the reviews I've seen, I believe the SA series would take more power then the Type Rs. I would think of the SAs to be more geared to SPL then SQ where as the Type Rs would retain a fair amount of SQ.

Price is always something that comes into play when thinking of a setup for me. Between these two choices I would run the Type Rs. It'd be well over a $100 cheaper. Which leaves more money for other upgrades and misc. things to help further improve your stereo listening experience.
