Will do, thanks.

although shops are good some not all but some tend to over price their stuff. i say just try to find someone who does boxes as a side thing. they normally do it cheaper too. and 1" is a little much 3/4 would be good. and mdf is cheap. go to craigslist and look up custom sub box. there should be some people. and make sure to ask them the questions i asked you. although you might not need the fiberglass. this guy that builds my boxes builds boxes for 8 0 sorry but if i put it normally it makes this face 80 lol where you located? i can help you search on your local craigslist. just make sure they know what their doing and have built alot of them. make sure they use mdf 3/4. and they send you a design. to show how they are building it. any more questions pm me.
Well I know a guy who builds them locally here. He told me $200. A lot better than $350, but still expensive.

depends. would he fiberglass the inside? carpet? how many boxes has he done? does he brace it. double baffle? 45 the corners? most i paid for a box custom box was 80 but it was a basic 2 12 box
Carpet and vinyl. I'd supply the vinyl. He's at a reputable shop. He said the supplies would be about 100 alone ...
No idea about the rest of the details. I'm pretty new to the audio game.

Is this a reasonable price? Seems a little high. This would be for a box built factory specs for 2 8500 15's. I believe he said most, if not all would be 1". I wasn't thinking i'd be spending that much on a box, but I will if it is honestly worth it. If not i'll look other places.

alright, if i saved up for some alpine type r 12's, what amp would you recommend for them?
FYI My friend just gave me a sealed box for 2 12's... (lol i would love to go ported for the type r's but free is the best option!)
My first system was 2 12" Type R's with a Alpine MRP-M1000. It was pretty decent in a slotted box. Once they broke in they sounded really good.

K I will talk to him. Do you know of a place to get cheap selenoids. We blew his today messing around.
You could check out www.prohopper.com or www.blackmagichydraulics.com other than that i'm not sure.

Tell him to spend 2-3 hundred on a multi battery charger. The pumps are gonna run HORRIBLY slow on 12 volts.
Also I'd recommend him to go from 8 to 4. If he's not hopping he has way too many batteries.

Lol, school was tooooo long ago. Not really, i'm only 22. But I don't remember many things like that. Alright, the positive to negative thing makes sense and is pretty much what I was saying so I guess I got it. Thanks.

They are D4 ohm right? If so, run everything in parallel which gives you 1 ohm, which is what you want.
What do you mean by parellel? I'm a total noob to car audio, just trying to learn lol. Can you give a good explination, or possibly a visual diagram?

I'm gonna be running my 15 inch MTX 8500's (2) to a Audiobahn A 1300hct which runs at 1200 RMS at 1 ohm. This means I need to wire my subs up at 2 ohms each, correct? I was looking at the wiring diagrams and trying to figure it all out. Pretty much what i've figured out is simple enough, running both of the possitives to the possitive terminal on my amp, and the same way with the negative. Therefor running the subs at 2 ohms, and it will run the amp at 1 ohm. If i'm wrong about ANYTHING please let me know, i'd love to do this right the first time!

Yea I could draw up a box for you. That is if your looking to do it yourself...
I'd have someone build it for me, yes.
-
Yes. Don't buy a prefab off ebay or something. It won't have the correct volume, port area and will be tuned way too high most likely. Let someone who knows what they're doing build you a box, or buy a design and build it yourself if you have the tools.
I don't personally but I have friends who build their boxes. Where would I find these plans then?

Would getting a custom box made to match the specs of my trunk be a better idea than buying a made box, then?
-
big trunk = ported box = awesomeness
My trunk isn't enormous, though. It's not an SUV or anything. But it being as big as it is, even though they're 15's and take up a lot of room. Ported would be the way to go?

Like I stated, i'm an audio noob. I'd like to get into it and learn, though. I recently had a setup: 2 12" Type R's with a 1000 Watt Alpine amp but ended up selling it. I had those in a slotted box. (Slot was in the middle of the 2) I've recently upgraded to 2 MTX 8500 15's. I'm wanting to know whether I should run them in a ported box, or a sealed box. I have a 2000 Lincoln Town car if that makes a different on my choice.
Any advice would be great, thanks.
