  1. Had it in for a few days now and took it to Kangaroo Island on our holiday which we just got back from and it sounds beautiful.

Will get a few more pics and videos soon. All I can say is.. It hits pretty damn hard for what's meant to be 600w.

I'm still yet to break it in as I can't really bump with Mum in the car while travelling around. :P But it did run a little warm after a good bashing after a petrol run one hour ago.

Anyway, first impressions - Brilliant, not sure if it's the box, probably is, but the higher Hz bass seems to be a little vaigue at times, but it gets low for what's supposed to be a 43Hz enclosure. Bumps hard, rattles the shit out of everything and does what I want perfectly even at low volumes.

  2. Well id rather have a brand new sub with a warranty than a sub without one and used. I seem to have a knack in getting scammed even after checking things out. Why do you think I still have my 95 buick skylark lol. I mean I have a 2009 impala...but at the time I needed something that was better on gas and flexfuel was a plus. Its been good to me so far except for the fact that it says service airbags soon lol

    Heh, oh dear, airbags :P

And +1 on that first statement. New with warranty is the way to go. You never know how much something's been abused when you buy used. Especially an XXX.

  3. hey man looks good.

just wondering how much and where you got your sub from.

realizing how hard it is to get decent usa equipment in au.

    Cheers man.

I posted the sub price in the post above, being $175 AUD with Audiosavings pricetag. And yeah, shipping to AUS is a pain in the bank acc.

In total, it was $480 incl SMD Discount for the enclosure, sub and wiring with about $120 shipping, from memory.

  4. Looks good. Should make your own box. Will be 5,000 times better lol. /end troll. But else wise...for a first build, not bad. You may want to get duals in the future...but with re audio...cant go wrong. Got a re 12 xxx for $250. They are very beasty

Yeah. I was a little skeptical about a prefab, but for now, with a tight budget and minimal knowledge, I'm gonna stick with the easy path until next year maybe. heh.

But yeah, deal with a Skar VVX fell through (props to Kevin though for being chill with it) and RE seemed the way to go.

  5. So, I've finally reached one of my life goals, which I'm yet to install. That is, owning my very own, quality subwoofer. None of that Supercheap Auto/best buy/kmart car audio shit. I went all out with my first ever install and don't regret a single thing.

    Here she is:

2 x JL Audio C2 650 speakers. Two front and two rear 6.5" components, 2 rear and two front (like 25mm?) tweeters.

JVC KD-R626 Headunit (single-din) w/ 4x50w MOSFET channels, powering the speakers.

    JL Audio XD 600/1 Monoblock

    RE Audio SE-X 12" D4 600w RMS sub.

Atrend 12 LSV Ported enclosure (2 or 3 cubic feet?)

Cadence full wiring kit (8 AWG)

    A good taste in music.

    Stock 90a alt, stock battery.

    Total approx price = $1,380

Total approx value = $1,700 Thanks Audiosavings!

  6. I had a quick listen the other day.

They don't seem bad, but, they are a bit bassy, and as already mentioned, overhyped and overpriced.

I picked up a pair of kicker headphones which sounded somewhat better, too.

If I were to suggest anything, Skullcandy (heard good things, and they have mean designs, but never listened myself)

I myself am a fan of the IEM. I've got a pair of Shure SE-215 In-Ear monitors and they're brilliant. $98 too incl. shipping.

  7. (soz, 2x post)

I think you just changed my mind. Thing is, I'll be needing screws and wiring, and that ain't cheap either. But damn they look like they slam.

Now contemplating either the JL or these, but... damn the Skars look badass.

  8. Edit:

Just realised you can get 2 ohm JL W3's, my dumbass brain didn't realise why there's two of almost the same deal on audiosavings.

Between JL and Alpine id go with the SA 12 :drink40:

Lol what? Aren't you just clever! Fyro: JL audio has nice products and all... But they're way overpriced on everything. One of my local shops here try to buy it wholesale to sell cheaper to us but it's still expensive even then!

Yeah I get what ya mean there.

But, I'm getting that deal for $370 AUD for the sub, enclosure and wiring from audiosavings. So, I think it's a fairly good deal, and I've already got two sets of C2-650s in my car and an XD 600/1 ready to rock the boot :P

  9. to tell you the truth, subwoofers are sometimes biased towards being a overall loud sub and being a SQ oriented sub, but a great deal of it is the enclosure and environment that determines overall SQ and loudness.

    True.

Well, the enclosure is a combo thin from audiosavings. it's the A-trend vented one. That's for both deals, and it includes 14 AWG wire, 2 spade terminals, 10 drywood screws.

    smh, a pre-fab won't sound amazing, but it's a start.
