Last time i checked kicker comps are not HT subs and in no point, just go with what you think is best OP
i was saying that the 18's were.......

It has to be built IN the vehicle to get the most out of the space I have available... Otherwise I'd gladly hit you up on that.
i live in memphis if you can i could meet at a halfway point. what city do you live in?

I've seen what some of the people on this forum have built, I have NO DOUBT it would be awesome, it's just I have no idea how to get all the dimensions you'd need to seal it off from the trunk, all the angles of the trunk floor, and all the curves of the sides, and you still be able to build it that I can just slide it in without completely disassembling it...
if the back seats flip down then you can make a box that is the height and width of the opening and then see how far back it the trunk goes and then seal it off. but you want about a 1/2 inch gap in the opening for were the seats flip down. all trunks have curves in them just try to get the largest possible dimensions that don't run into any curves
-
2006 Mustang GT, the trunk has a million curves and the floor slopes down, it would be a nightmare to try to do it without physically being able to measure and build it in the car, or at least to just have it there to look at. Plus I want it sealed off from the trunk as best it can.
well just try and get some dimensions and i can build a nice box for you

not necessarily what kind of car do you have and what are the dimensions?

Sorry DICK that I didn't get around to reading the thread about cone area .. but thanks for the comment ..
Your name was Dick, wasn't it?
umm its actually basic math that you should have learned in the 6th grade just sayin...
and x2 on the facepalm
-
4 8" = 32" of cone area?
2 15" = 30" of cone area?
Im Not trying to be a dick, maybe I don't understand how cone area works?
radius times the radius x 3.14 gives you the cone area Two 15" = 353.43 Four 8" = 201.06

I haven't received my final quote from them, but I'm SURE it's more than I wanna spend The box I had for my two T1 10s in this car was 4 or 500, I can't remember. I'd like to get hooked up with somebody that won't rip me off, but they assume I'm just some kid that got some legit stuff and I don't know what I'm doing because I'm not building my own box so they take forever to build a box and then try to feed me some bull that I know isn't true... Sorry, venting from the last experience at a shop, they quoted me 600 and tried charging me 1300... I have yet to have a good experience with ANY shop I've been to, but I don't really have a choice...
holy crap man thats way to much i could build you a box for like $160-200 maybe even cheaper than 160 if you're low on cash. (those prices are shipped) pm me if you want me to build you one.

Yeah thats one of the reasons i wanted the 8's but each 15 is 600w RMS and both would have 1200w each so i'm good on the power. I already have a 15" sub that is crazy alone in my car so im interested on how 2 higher powered 15's would sound.
personally i'd just get the 8's
-
The 8s would actualy be louder I think ..
And 4 8s would look sexy
no the 15's would be louder because there is way more cone area but yes i do agree that the 8's would be sexy as hell
-
What would be better 4 SA-8's or 2 SA-15's. If i get the 8's then ill have a lot of room to work with in my small car to build a amazing box, or if i get the 15's I wont have much room at all to work but its still do able, just very hard with the space i have. I wanna buy the 15's soon if thats what i choose because their still on pre order and i can get them for a lot better price now than later.
well the 2 15's have more cone area so they would most likely get louder but i would go with the 8's just because people would not expect you to have 8's. but the 15's will get louder unless you have more power running to the 8's then the 8's might be.
-
Yeah but its the same cone area, the same size box, and the same power ..
Wouldnt it be the same?
I highly doubt i have room for 3 18s, unless i have the correct enclosure
IDK what to do, there are so many options out there ..
I just want the most cone area, and most bang
the 3 18's would most likely sound alot cleaner than the kicker comps cause those are home theater subs and you would be putting more power to the 3 18's so the 18's might be louder but will definitely be cleaner
-
Its gonna all be sealed up, but its going in a trunk car ..
I do have room for the box, but i wanted to know just how loud you think this could be?
the 3 18's would most likely get louder than the 6 12's
-
Okay so i have a AQ1200D pushing my 15" Type R ..
I was looking for new subs, Was gonna go with 2 AQSDC2.5 15"
but I can get 6 - 12" Kicker Comps in a sealed enclosure, for $360 ..
The enclosure is huge, but hell i dont care ..
Do you think this is worth the money? Would it slam hard? if i had 200watts into each sub?
well what vehicle is it going in? if you have the space get 3 of these. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=295-475 do 2.5 cubes sealed for each sub
-
I told the shop that I'm looking at having do this that I want as much port area as they can possibly do. And since I'm really wanting this system to get LOW, I wasn't planning on going ANY higher than 34 Hz.
a car audio shop is building you a box? jw
EDIT: if so how much are they charging?
-
Yeah, 1 cu ft would be nice and save me space, but if Rusty and thorshammer recommend 1.15 cu ft each since they're only getting 1500 watts, then that's what I'll do lol. Besides, if I upgrade to 5kw in a couple years, I might just yank the rear seat and do a couple 15s at that point rather than messing with keeping it in the trunk.
remember though i'd use alot of port area tuned to like 34-38 hz
-
No, never ever rolled a toyota, but I have a friend we built a box for 2 solo 10s in a 94 corolla firing forward. by the time I was done with the box it almost didnt fit in the trunk.
I know from personal experience from a few installs that firing a woofer up, and porting it back in a trunk does not give to great of results unless you cut out the entire rear deck it seems. Maybe that is an option for you.
Well then keep doing your "free" box designs, and Ill keep building real boxes that get loud, and put up results on the meter.
dude wtf is your problem i know what i'm doing i've been doing this shit since i was 12 and what are you saying that 2 cubes for each sub sealed is not enough? if so then you are a complete idiot. he wanted to 2 ported 15's but he did not have the adequate amount of space to do it so i thought that 3 15's sealed would work. and yes i know what you're talking about 2 good 12's with that amount of space would do alot better in my opinion but i don't think this guy wants that so please stfu and go flame on someone else's thread.
-
Yes they are a legit site.
However, you do not have the room to do two 15s in a 92 corolla trunk.
The minimum box volume alone for a pair of 15s would take up the entire trunk let alone have room for the woofers to properly load.
This is a good example of a pair of 12s out wanging a pair of 15s due to the fact the 12s will have proper box volume and a box that is not as huge so the soundwaves and can escape out the trunk and into the cabin.
but this is just my opinion.
umm the box space he has is about 6.5 cubes with 1" thick wood he wants to get 3 15's sealed and that would be about 6 cubes net after displacement which is 2 cubes per 15 which is a good amount of space for them. so he has the room to do 3 15's sealed but not 2 15's ported.

LKIT0 - American Acessories El Lobo 1/0 Gauge 4000 Watt Dual Amplifier Wiring Kit. $100 Shipped
the grand total is $845.50. that sub would do great in the 2000 tahoe and i can build and design you a box for $120-140 which is dirt cheap and i can guarantee that no one else will have that low of a price. $120 is cheap cause it costs about $50 for the supplies and then $50 to ship the box so i'm only making about $20 out of the deal.if you can get me the dimensions of your cargo area for the box i can design it and then i can build it if you'd like. if you don't want me to build it thats cool but the box design is free.

u could just go between the sizes & do 1 cube each... lol.
true lol
-
Well, I'm only gonna be giving them 3kw for now, but probably the summer after, I'm hoping to pick up two RF T2500-1bds, so 5kw for the two of them. But that will be another year or two. So 0.8 cu ft per woofer will still get loud and have real nice lows? I knew I wanted DC since they save space for not needing huge enclosures, but DAMN, that's tiny lol. But from what I've seen of your car, it works, so I won't argue. So for 3000 watts RMS, should I do the 1.15, 0.8, or the suggested on the website of 1 (all of these per woofer of course lol)?
if your gonna be putting 2.5k to each one i would do 1.15 like rusty said except i would do a bit more port area if you can because these subs seem to like port area so i would do around 18-22 square inches of port area tuned to somewhere around 34-38 hz
EDIT: i take that back if you plan on upgrading to more power than 0.8 after displacement would be better but if you don't plan on upgrading the power than 1.15 would be good
