  1. My stepdad has a Suzuki Katana 600, and my dad has a Harley Davidson Sportster 1200cc, but I have nothing. We're looking into getting me a good small bike to train myself on (unfortunately never rode dirtbikes or anything because my parents were strict at the time..). I just need something simple (but street legal) so I can learn how to ride one, how to change gears, etc. I rode my stepdads Katana around the apartment complex yard for a few minutes, so I know how to ride one, but just need to learn how to change gears, etc. What do you guys think?

  2. I've been wanting to get a nice projector to use for my DJ business for movies/presentations/etc. I've got a 20ft truss setup that I can use for a screen, and at a max height of 11ft, does about a 16:9 ratio, but the only issue is I want it to be able to be easily visible at that height (at least indoors) but I need one as cheap as possible. Anyone know where I can find one to suit this, or if someone has one used that I am able to buy? Thanks

  3. Update: Subs came in Thursday morning, they're light as hell! Only about 80 pounds apiece loaded, and it's 2x2x2ft, ported. Not extremely deep bass, but real punchy and clear on an EP4000. Also, I went to a car show today to help the guy set up his smaller system (all Kustom and Peavey gear) as well, and he gave me a huge collection of 50's-80's music, some 90's, and a lot of country new and old. Now sitting at about 17,500 songs (opposed to about 8,000).

Will be doing full setup tomorrow/tomorrow night, so expect vids.

  4. Ok, I'll bite. The razors are for what now?

I guess Behringer's promoting them or something. I got one for every B-ger product I got.

I suspect OP is going to shave all the air off his body in order to have a more sensitive skin in which to gauge the bass.

    Hm, not a bad idea...

Thanks for getting a joke and enjoying it. Seriously, lately everyone on here is like "don't joke, that's negative and ignorant!"

I say, bust balls and joke constantly. It's a web forum people, relax.

I still want to know what those razors are for!

F**K YOU >_> sike. Yeah, that's one thing I hate.

You plan on adding wheels to the racks?

Definitely to the amp rack. Two EP-series amps, another 30-odd pound amp, crossover & power conditioner, I'd say at minimum 150 pounds, and only two handles to carry them with.

Everything was hooked up & working today, just waiting for my subwoofers to get here. Next step up will definitely be JTR Growlers though.

  5. Well, everything got here today, from KS to KY, in under 2 days. Everything is here, aside from the Yamaha subwoofers, which are coming in on special delivery. I had to leave for Dayton for the weekend, but once I'm back in town, sunday night, everything's going up. till then, some pics.

    And a little surprise from Behringer...5 pieces from Behringer (1 amp, 2 comp/limiters, 1 crossover, & 1 EQ.

  6. I didn't have the Bose system in my car (had the Delco h/u) but my front door speakers sound great for the time being, even being stock. Make sure you have them properly crossed over, I have mine cut off at around 120hz, on both the HU & the amp, and all four speakers will get loud.

Since you already went to walmart, if you can, get yourself a 4ch Dual amp and wire it for mids/highs. That's what I did. If you don't want to rip the doors apart to run the wires, run the front wire outputs up behind the h/u and splice them in.

  7. Alright, well I took step one today towards buying my new PA system. Phase 1 was to go through my old setup and find the useful stuff, and buy my new top speakers. I bought them used from my friend who owns a "teen club" (I'm glad i quit there, it's gone to crap). $300 later, I have a set of Kustom KSC 215H dual 15" PA speaker with new Peavey RX14's put in them. Only issue is one speaker has a bad connection to the tweeter output on the crossover, so I had to do some wire changing, but you can hardly tell a difference. Right now, I have these on a EP2500 from Behringer, plenty of power at 750w a side (4ohm speakers, 300w RMS, 600w cont), with a RS dual 15 band EQ for the time being.

    Phase two: Buy the main setup, which will include;

    Mackie 1604-VLZ3 16-Channel Mixer

LiveWire 16-Channel TRS/XLR In, 4 TRS Return Snake

Behringer FBQ3102 Dual 31-band EQ (on mains)

    Behringer MDX2600 Compressor/Limiter (on mains)

Behringer MDX4600 Compressor/Limiter (for compression w/ inserts necessary

Behringer CX3410 3-way Stereo Crossover (will be in 2-way stereo for mains)

4 Kustom KPC12M monitors on Phonic Max 1000 Amplifier

    Yamaha SW118V 18" Sub Pair

    Behringer EP4000 Amplifier (Subs)

EV Cobalt 7 6-Pack vocal mics w/ stands & cables

CAD Pro-7 7-Piece Drum Mic Kit

    Lighting Package 1 (8 Par-38's, relay packs, & controller)

    10 10-Pack 20ft XLR mic cables

    10 30ft 1/4" Instrument Cables

    Musician's Gear 6-space (Processing Gear) & 8-space (Amp) Racks

Total of the system will probably be costing me about $6k. It's all budget, I don't feel like building speakers myself or buying used, but what I will need it for won't be for 35,000 people, just local bands and DJ gigs and such. Right now, just the dual 15's sound amazing by themselves, but the rest altogether will sound incredible. Will definitely post pics and vids once I get it all.

Also, pics to proove I'm working on it. It may be a while till I get everything, so feel free to discuss. First pic, the dual 15's at the foot of my tiny bed. (It's only sitting like 6 inches above the floor. Second pic is the temporary DJ mixer I borrowed from my friend, the RS dual 15 band EQ that will go on the monitor mix, and the EP2500. I hate living in an apartment complex though... >:)

  8. Haha you think I would bum money off you guys? You got a good idea going there...haha

The light packages are for bands only, flood lighting. I will get some LED FX lighting as time goes on.

But in all seriousness, how does that sound for a "Budget" system? I would go with higher quality gear like JBL or Mackie, but don't have the cash :( My dad will be paying for it via a Music123 credit card. I know it's not a big 7ft Meadetower, but it will get the job done.

  9. I've finally decided to take the all-important step into talking my dad into buying gear to open a live sound business locally. There are very few around here and those that do charge ridiculous prices. I'm hoping to get into the gigging scene as my parents (mom n stepdad) have started going to a few bars locally and chatted with the owners. Money is the key to the deal, but hopefully my dad will be able to pump that out, as he has high hopes.

Here's what I've settled on from music123 so far.

    Total Est. Cost: $5776.22 / 12 = $481.35/month

I'm changing the stock Kustom drivers out for RX14's so they won't blow so easy. My buddy had 4 of the dual 15's and all 4 tweeters blew within 3 weeks of band gigging. Two of the 4 got new tweeters, and it sounded 10x better.

  10. I'm working on getting me a PA setup to use for local bands and such. The only problem is my amp rack will be heavy as a youknowwhat. I had an idea to take some wood boards, cut one about 5 feet, the other about 10 feet, each with a simple curved surface to it, kind of as a ramp that will worth both ways. The only thing is it needs to support about 200 pounds of weight on wheels. What wood would be the best quality for a job like this? Thanks.

  11. I've been wanting to get into the live sound business for a long time...I have a good small system (two 12's and an EP2500 amp) for small DJ gigs, but I've been wanting to do band gigs and such locally. A guy online is selling this system about 10 miles away, does it look like a good setup? I know I could probably get better, but AFAIK this could be a good deal (once I get some good mics)
