the jbl amp is for the mids and highs. and nope not a 15 or anything by DC

lol yeah im one of those annoying people that says swag after everything I do. Did the embedding of the vid work or no?
-
Im pretty sure embedding that video just failed on me. #n00b

I just got a new setup. voltage is dropping to just below 13 volts so I still have some work to do. 500 swag points if you can guess what I got in the trunk. 1000 swag points if you can guess the brands Im running.

Man the fuck up. Its called life.
Man the fuck up. Its called life.
True, MAN UP
Life only gets worse lol
yea you guys are right. "manning up" every day since i was 17 is taking its toll on my i guess so the only thing i know how to do now is work and when i dont have work i feel lost. I guess ill go out and do something to be productive.

I've been feeling kinda down lately, nothing serious just regular full time job and full time student stress. Ive been waiting for free time to install my new system and today i've finally had the entire day free but I just sat around and did nothing instead. now the day is almost over because it gets dark at 430 so I wasted the day. My lack of motivation is kinda annoying. Anyone have any ideas of how i can get back on track and be productive again?

sounds like a ground loop issue. make sure your ground is on solid bare metal. also where did u run your rca's. the problem is caused by interference from something else in the car such as the fuel pump which is causing the tone

what is your electrical like running that amp? if it does rated power you need some electrical upgrades to run it efficiently. you could be pre maturely clipping due to voltage drop

i have a 9515 DD, and was wondering on an opinion of if you would swap out the parts of the 9515 DD and make it into a 9515 DDZ, would it be worth it? i have heard 4 15" DDZ's at 1/3 power and i couldnt look straight.. my eyes jiggled of to the sides.
And i have no idea on the prices for the parts would be, so if you could give me an estimate of how much it would cost to get just 1 15" DDZ running it would be much appreciated.. i heard the coils are like 600 alone
isnt it an entire different motor structure and stuff? its not like a drop in re cone. im pretty sure its an entire different sub so you would need the entire new motor and soft parts.

Actually I thought about and I just went and looked and at the wire that burnt up and it was a 5 gauge ground. I had a 8 gauge in there rite before I put this amp in.
5 gauge or 8 gauge, either way if it wasn't 1/0 its not enough for your application. mistakes like this are all part of learning but unfortunately sometimes learning is expensive lol
-
yea that was probably not a good idea. an aq2200 is a powerful amp. 8 gauge is def not enough. not sure if you did any perminent damage to the amp, hopefully you didnt. try it with the 0 gauge though because thats what is required
-
you just upgraded to a thicker wire now? what gauge were you using previously and what are you using now? that amp need 1/0 power and ground wire.

im looking for an aq1200 or maybe an aq750. there were recently a couple on here for sale but i thought about it to long and they were sold. if i dont find one within a week im just going to buy new. let me know!!

the only thing you can probably do if you really want to is fiberglass the inside of the box and sand it smooth. this wont necessarily help or hurt performance in my opinion but it can help air flow more easily in the box. personally I wouldn't worry about it
-
second skin makes a spray on deadener but its not meant for inside of boxes. you should really have to spray anything inside a box to stop echoing. as long as you build it solid with 3/4 mdf or birch you should be fine

with one 6 inch aero i can get the port area to 8.5 per cubic foot. torres calculator recommends 9-13 so im still a little below where i should be. with 2 6 inch ports the length would be to long to get the tuning i want. this is my first box design so i expect it to come out pretty bad lol. for bracing ill probably end up using some threaded rod. hopefully it comes out sounding decent at least.
-
im designing a box for a dc level 4 15 using torres calculator. the net volume right now is 3.72 after sub and port displacement. im using 2 4 inch aero ports. the port area is only 6.75 per cube but that will increase after bracing is added. I need help figuring out what bracing to do for this box and how to calculate its displacement. i want to 45 the corners but im not sure how to calculate that displacement.

hey everyone check out my new youtube channel Mrteamshellshock. team shell shock is my crappy car club that has 3 members and im the only one with a system to show even though its not much. pretty much just doing this cuz im bored. well enough of me rambling which i do alot, this is the channel!! lol
-
yup. my plan is to upgrade eventually so i can wire it to 1 ohm. im probably going to end up getting a sundown sa12 or maybe the fi ssd neo when ever it comes out
-
thanks for the replies. im pretty happy with the current sound of everything as it is so any gain is just a bonus really. and for 250 bucks it seems worth it to me. plus ill finally have a bass knob lol.
-
do you think it would make an audible difference? the sub is an alpine tpye r 12 and the box is 2.35 cubes tuned to 31 hertz
-
ok so currently im running an alpine mrp-m500 at 2 ohms to get 500 watts rms. my voltage even at full tilt stays at 14+ at the amp. my electrical is a kinetic hc1800 and the grounds of the big 3. 1/0 power wire running to the trunk. I want to upgrade to an audioque 1200d wired to 2 ohms and according to aq's website that would be 870 watts rms. I will finish the big three soon. but my main concern is that upgrading this way will just cause voltage drop so that i would probably end up having around 500 watts again. do you think its worth it to upgrade just to get a little more out of my system? can my electrical handle it?
Can anyone guess what im running?
