  1. 4 will be tight but if you can get them in ported properly I say go for it then when you have the monies a bigger amp

Yeah, this amp actually pushes almost its rated power. Old school Legacy isn't so bad.

They would be getting decent power running 4 channel, but a bigger amp would definitely be a must later on.

I could push all 4 at 2 ohms, or wire each pair down to one provided I find an amp that will agree with that. :-O

  2. I had 4 of mine in a sealed 5 cu ft box....until I saw this Steve Meade guy and the Hoopty! If you have room in the Ranger, port them and you will not be disappointed. I just temporarily covered/closed my ports for testing and they do sound good sealed, too!

Yeah, Steve Meade is literally the reason I started going bigger and bigger. xD

I was wondering how well they shine ported, my buddy has 4 12" in his extended cab, I have a little less room to play with than he does because of my seats not being stock. But I think I can do it.

If I go with four thats gonna stretch my amp, I'll have to run it 4 channel and thats just unacceptable, now power here we come.

Right now both of them @ 2ohms is pretty good, It's pulling alot of power, but I never see much below 11v. But I'm wanting to go bigger with the charging system anyway.

They do have a great sound sealed, they have a tight punch lol

Weight and such isn't really an issue to me, the 302 does work, so I dont mind being a little heavier.

  3. i love HFis. i had 3. cardiscountstereos.com had em for $20 a peice back in the day, if they were still priced like that i would buy the shit out of them.

Yeah, you can get lucky sometimes and come across them for 30ish.

I bought 4 at the time to have spares, at this very moment I'm sketching up a box to throw all four of them in the ranger, I dont need spares, I need BASS! lol

  4. I vote for more HFI12D4's! I run 8 of them in my PT.

Oh... and have you seen this?

    Big Al's 24 woofer install

The PT gave me new faith. I think I'm gonna do 4.

I'm impressed with them, good thing is they're cheap, so I have a few lying around. If I built a box I have two extra so that'd be four.

Maybe I should do that, they are cheap to replace and dont sound that bad, they get loud when I need them too, i really just want to have my daily driver in the high 130's like my hatch I've retired.

If I do that I could not really stress the wiring, but I would go 0/1 and I need a bigger alt, and perhaps a kinetic of some sort.

  5. In my opinion, there's more wow factor in multiple subs than there is in one or two big ones.

    I'd love to see multiple 12s over 2 15s or 18s.

Very true, at a local competition I saw a guy with 2 18's loud as shit, but everyone was gathering around the xB with I think it was 8 12's, I dont quite remember but it was loud and there were alot of 12's. xD

  6. audioque 2200 and 3 12inch aq sdc 12s or 2 15s thats betwwen 700 and 830 ish

I actually dig the idea of 3 12's, I like the freq response my 12's have, I had 4 10's in this thing and that was pretty decent.

I just like the wow factor of the 18's :-P And I want to move alot of air.

And yeah this thing is pretty awesome

  7. Get us some dimensions to play with. And also a budget! That's make everything a lot easier, and you'll also have better luck in getting some suggestions. :)

Alrighty, budget, thats easy, CHEAP! lol nah, trying to keep it under $2500

The mids and highs I have now aren't horrible, If it comes down to it I'll wait and just get the power and bass sorted out for now. lol

I'll have to go out with a tape measure here in a bit. I'll post back with some dimensions.

  8. Whats up guys, I've been following Steve's 'Hoe for a while now, I've been tinkering with car audio for a few years and have my second best setup to date in my Ranger, its an extended cab so i have some room to play with.

My current setup is as follows:

    2 12" HiFonics HFi 12D4 @ 2ohm (insane bag for buck)

    Legacy LA720

    Kicker 6x9's and dash speakers

    A decent Sony head unit

Big three in 4 gauge, 4 gauge to the amp.

I can build any box I need to, so that wont be a problem.

The setup as is sounds good all around, the bass is loud when I need it to be, I want to have it metered here soon.

I want to have the clearest mids and highs, I want to lows to rip your chest apart.

I want a system that is good for 145db at least.

My idea is stuck after subwoofer, I want an 18" maybe two if it will fit, I think one is pushing the space thing though.

I'm looking at an 18" Havoc, it's not too expensive, looks good, and i've seen some pretty impressive setups with them.

But after all that I'm asking for guidance, I want big spl, Amazing mids and highs, and I want to turn more heads than I do now.

Heres what I'm working with now:
