  1. Get a dc level 4 I have a xl on 600 right now till I get my new amp and it's louder then both my ssd 12's on 1600. And the lows hit way harder I was pretty surprised actually hell everyone before they see it say you didn't get rid of your 12's you added more power. Wrong switched to 1 ten in a box ac1/3 of the size and a 1/3 of the power

I would have to sell my left nut for one of those lol. I got about 300$ to work with after i sell my subs. Now i could wait and have about 500$ to work with. How much do one of those run?

  2. I have had sealed boxes and for the most part they were OK for everyday listening, I did have one in my old Geo with two Audiobahns that sounded pretty good. I do like bandpass boxes for some odd reason and slot ported always seem to sound good. I wish i had the money to build a few boxes and find what i like, but money is tight and my first try would be my last for a while, I would hate to invest 150$ into making a box and it sound like shit.

  3. That sounds very wrong...but if the tech said it I guess it has to be correct?

13x30x13 will give you about .8 per sub after displacement. I wouldn't go any smaller than that.

That just seems REALLY small for a sealed box, barely big enough for my subs. I want boomy bass but i also want it to be tight and not all sloppy sounding. I listen to everything, Heavy metal, rock, rap, R&B, Techno, just want it to sound clean when listening to everything, my box now sounds good with most rap and almost all techno, but sounds like crap with Rock and heavy metal, its a R/T obcon ported box.

  4. Net is after sub/bracing displacement, so if you have a 1.8 cube box(Gross Size) for example and your sub takes up .20 cubes and your bracing takes up .20cubes then your net box size is 1.4 cubes

But how do i know what my sub takes up? how do i determine that, I don't have much info on the subs other then they need to be in a sealed enclosure at .6 cuft net.

  5. So i need to build a box that is .6 cuft per chamber NET. How would i determine what the gross volume is? How would i go about measuring the NET volume of a box. The Eclipse tech said that it needs to be .6ft loaded i believe.

*EDIT* This is his email that he sent me.

For these subs recommend is sealed enclosure for the sub is 0.6 cuft. each with the subwoofers loaded in the box so net you want it to 0.6 cuft. Ported not recommended.

  6. Sure there are electronics degrees, but none that focus on car audio that I know of.

Most electronics courses cover a small amount of audio technology or things related but nothing considered "Car Audio" as a major.

There are trade schools you can go to though.

Automotive classes at the college im going to attend cover pretty much everything, Electrical, engine repair/maintenance, manual and automatic trans axle repair/maintenance all that good stuff.

  7. I wouldn't pay to goto any school for car audio... School of hard knocks is where it's at :)

Now if your interested in electronics and computers goto school for five years and get an electrical engineering degree.

I'm pretty set on Information technology right now, but i also enjoy working on cars and would love to be a certified car audio installer. Not sure if the guy that owns the only car audio shop around here went to school, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to ask him.
