Next step was for me to wash the car...for this I used Duragloss 902.
I was recommended this product a good while back by Am, but never got round to buying it...opting instead for Zaino Z7 I think its called...I was very impressed with the Z7, and am equally impressed with Megs NXT wash which I can buy from the local Halfords. I thought it was time to try something different so went and ordered some Duragloss. Im SOO glad I did!! (Ill be reviewing all products later as well as links to each of the products)
Washed
The car was then clayed using Megs clay bar. There was very little in terms of contaminates on the paintwork so I didnt take a photo of the clay bar as it was still practically clean!
Some of you may realise the pictures are in a bit of a weird order...some are outside the garage and some are inside...the order I actually did the work in was washed the car outside, then took the car inside and then done the front and rear brakes...while the wheels were off I did the detailing on them.
Rear Arches
Cleaned using Megs APC
Front arches
Cleaned using Megs APC
Next up was to use the G-techniq P1 polish to get rid of some surface marks and get the paint ready for some G-techniq C1! Before the polish was applied, I wiped the panel down with an IPA and then got to work with my G220 and a polishing pad.

Box specs?

Old mids vs new
Amps location decided
Test fit
Edges sprayed black
Carpeted
Fitted
Didnt take any photos of the tweeter fitting unfortunately
How stock could it look?!?!
Only thing needing to finish it off is a 'pretty panel' for the amp so the cabling cant be seen, but unforunately, we ran out of time! But its something that we will do soon

Naim brought over his newly aquired BMW E92 325 round for an install...he had quite specific requirements;
- OEM Stereo integration
- A system that plays loud, clean and crisp
- Has to offer a fair bit of bass
- Everything has to look stock
Now lets not forget what Naim is moving over from...A walled Astra with 2 18 AA Havocs and 152ish db of bass!!! Now this was going to be a major task to satisfy his bass needs!!
Obviously with the car being a new addition into Naim's life, obviously he had to have the install done without alternating any panelling in the car! I dont think the resale value would be great if we put in custom panels everywhere lol...Forget the re-sale value...his parents would go MAD...probably hunt me down to PMSL!!!
After testing out various AudioSystems and Mosconi products, I told Naim to use the AudioSystems XION BMW 200 kit which includes 2 8" subs, 2 4" midrange, a pair of tweeters, and a pair of crossovers. This is designed to be a direct replacement kit for the 1/3 Series BMW's.
The amp powering the lot is a Mosconi 120.4 for a few reasons - They accept high level inputs so integrates PERFECTLY with the OEM stereo...the amp also comes with AutoSensing feature which eliminates the need for any external 'remote' sources or adapters. The amp turns on when it detects voltages, and turns off when the headunit fully powers down! Couple these features with the AWESOME SQ available from these amps, we certainly had a winner without a doubt!
Unfortunately I didnt get as many pictures as I would have hoped as we were pressed for time...but what I have is
Stripping the interior panels
The amp
OEM sub
New sub
Side panels and back seat base removed
OEM Wiring modified to accept the aftermarket speakers and amp
Speaker wires converted to RCA's
All wiring harnesses have been loomed back into the OEM look using loom tape so it all looks stock in the panels

2 Movie clips we made of the system...just running in yet hence subs arent going mad...
Ive been asked how this sounds...
Initial setup was done without the subs connected...headunit was set to flat and gains adjusted correctly...started EQing the setup a little and then turnt the volume up...I started smiling thinking, WOW....I looked up at my cousins and could see he was saying something...I turnt the volume down and realised he was saying 'I thought you were meant to turn the subs off?!?!'...I looked and laughed...I honestly had to do a double take myself!!! Ensuring the subs were off, I looked back at him and said they are! His face was worth a million pounds!! I then carried on EQing the system and got it to a point where its sounding CRYSTAL clean...even a pin drop sounds AWESOME in the car! The tweeters are nice and bright for a streetbass setup yet can be toned down via the cross over should need be...
For a SB setup, the front end is PERFECT...its VERY loud and VERY detailed...its civillised at low volumes, and retains its clarity at high volumes! The speakers actually handled everything the SPL Dynamics was throwing at them (140wrms per side) even with the HPF off!!! These are definately designed to take some power!! Once I finished goofing around, I set the HPF to around 60hz as I know what youngsters are like with the volume control LOL!
Connected the subs up, they sounded clinical, defined, and in TOTAL control...turned them up to get them moving, they punch HARD...and they played EVERY low note I threw at them with authority! All the way down to 25hz (its all I had with me at the time)...Gains set! Subsonic is set to around 25hz...The subs play in perfect harmony with the front end...they are clinical and never seem to stress out...and we are running around twice as much power than what they are rated at!!! This is why I LOVE AA subs! 250wrms sub getting battered with 500wrms and it LOVES it! Retains every ounce of SQ that it does at lower volume, even when pushing them hard!
Overall verdict...this is a system ALOT of people will envy! Entry level subs, entry level amps, middle range components...and performance to die for!!!
I cant wait to get this on a termlab!!!

Install is now finished and done...final bits going in

They really are an awesome bit of kit! Currently amped off the SPL Dynamics so getting around 140wrms per side, and man do they sing loud, clean and clear!!!

Hey, this is a new build we are currently doing using entry/middle level of equipment...
Objectives of the install were;
- play clean
- nice balance of bass/treble
- allow for system expansion at a later point
- be relatively in-expensive
Spec list is as follows...
Alpine 9855R headunit
Audiosystems XION 165 components
SPL Dynamics ICE 800D (now swapped for a 1500d)
SPL Dynamics ICE 150.2
2 Ascendant Audio Assassin 12" subs
teamSPB Custom built sub box
Autoleads wiring
Autoleads speaker adapters
Silent Coat sound deadening on boot area and front doors
This system is FULLY expandable...add an amp for the front end...upgrade the subs....put even more expensive components in...etc etc
Pics of the comps
Temp installed in his last car before he had to sell it
Pics of subs coming up

Im based in the UK! So European amps are no problem for me...unlike getting hold of our American brands takes forever LOL!
keepinloud yes mate these are AWESOME SQ amps, that happily delivery tons of power to! I honestly cant fault them when I used them in the Previa! I cant wait to get them in the Focus...might try to do so tomorrow actually!
Heres a rather interesting read on them http://redirectingat.com/?id=315X493&xs=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pasmag.com%2Fcar-audio%2Ftest-reports%2F1345-mosconi-as-2004-amplifier-review%3Fq%3Dmosconi&sref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.talkaudio.co.uk%2Fipb%2Findex.php%2Ftopic%2F339714-the-billets-replacements-are-herehello-mosconis%2Fpage__pid__3950592%23entry3950592

Since the Tru Tech was shipped off last week to its new owner, I ordered up the replacement amps for it...
Since I used the Mosconi AS300.2 in the Previa running the midranges, I feel in love with the warmth and clarity the amp delivered...it was night and day difference between the SPL Dynamics S6002! I know the difference will be big between a 'loud' type amp compared to a SQ based amp...but I was truely blown away by the sound the Mosconi was able to deliver!
Since then, ive always said to myself they will be going into the focus at some point!
The amps themselves are SO elegant and look plain awesome! The current versions are white, however, next year we will be swapping out for the brushed aliminium ones so they fit the boot build a bit better!
The ones I have gone for are 2 AS100.4's....its specs are
100 Watt per channel @ 4 Ohm
155 Watt per channel @ 2 Ohm
310 Watt bridged mode @ 4 Ohm
480 Watt bridged mode @ 2 Ohm
One 4 channel will be running 4 x 100wrms to my CDT ES01's and CDT ES04 midrange drivers...and the other 4channel will be bridged giving 310wrms x 2 to my Hybrid Audio L6 midbass drivers...
I will be changing the front end at some point, but just looking around to see what will work with the system!
PIcs
Detailed instructions
4g inputs
80a fuse nicely tucked out the way
X-over settings
This is how they will be placed in the Focus
Cant wait to get them in!!!!

Yes...the Tru Tech Billet 6 has been sold!!! Took it out the car today....all £2500 worth of amp!!!!
I LOVED this amp BIG time...whether or not the new replacement amps will live up to the Billet or not...only time will tell...but the ball is set in motion for the 2011 rebuild!!!
This truely was the best amp I have ever owned (well...its on par with the Tru Tech Hammer I have )...I hope the new owner looks after it...but by the sounds of things...it will be in good hands!!!
Bring on the new amps!

Hi Steve, did/do you get any ground noise from the 3sixty? We have connected one in my other halfs car but seem to get some ground/floor noise? Tried so many things - changing RCA's, rewiring earths, gain setting etc etc...but the problem was still there...
One thing I didnt try was grounding the 3sixty to the same place as the headunit...wondering if this would help
ABSOLUTELY love the 3sixty though...would recommend it to anyone!
