  1. no.......disregard his post. clipping happens most often when you have a 300rms amplifier and a 1000rms subwoofer and you are wondering why its not loud and keep tuning up the gain and bassboost and etc till the woofer blows then you are like "well why the hell did it blow? this amp is shit" when infact it would be your own fault since you were clipping the crap out of the amplifier. having a 1500rms amplifier on lets say the same 1000rms woofer, 99% of the time you will not blow the woofer when setting gains to around 1000rms. that 500rms of headroom (power that isnt being used) will ensure that you get clean power out of the amplifier and minimizing the chance of clipping.

you can also put a 5000rms amplifier on a 500rms subwoofer as long as you tune the gains correctly (with a multimeter in this case, other times you would need an oscilloscope) then there will be no chance of blowing the woofer. it all matters on the settings.

I see. So use a DMM and make sure the subs are not getting to high RMS watts. This will eliminate any problems. Do you think the saz 1000d would be a better choice? The RE Audio sex 12's are rated at 600 rms, I assumed they were a bit underrated and think the 1500d would be perfect for them.

  2. Clipping is not from voltage it's by the guy at the knob, if he puts the amp past it's limits it will not output a clean signal and damaging subs, same goes for HU's dont turn it past 3/4 of the max volume and do not use the bass boost or anyother bass enhancer....

That could be a problem because I like my music loud. So you are saying that my amp may be to much power for these subs?

  3. alright wel i had a had memphis amp that did 2k at 2 ohm for my dual 1 12 btl. it doesnt work anymore goes into protect.. guessing from having stock electrical like a dumb ass.. whats a good amp that does 2k at 2 ohm that doesnt really break that bank?? that does rms too.. open to ALL suggestions.. when i read my dmm from the sub is says 1.6ohm on my dmm from teh speaker wires so im guessing after box rise it should be at 2.

How long did you have this setup running off stonck electrical? And this can ruin an amp?

  4. I'm not good at working 9+ hours straight which is one of the reasons I'm not leaning towards the dispatcher position. plus the security guy called me today telling me to come in on wednesday to take the test and start training classes on thursday

Really man, you cant work more than 9+???? Time to grow up and ditch the low life security route. I mean seriously. With only working 4 days a week aa a fire dispatcher, you have plenty of time to go to college. I hope your going.....

When you graduate college and hand out your resume, what do want as your job reference. Hospital security (job duties include sitting in car listening to radio) or Dispatcher for the fire department (job duties include saving lifes).
