ok now does anyone know how to make a speaker holder thing ( dont know what they are called lol ) i know how to make the frame with the front mounting rings and the little wood legs for fitting but what do i use to cover it to make it a closed speaker enclosure ?? i see people use this cloth stuff then some rosin ... what is that stuff ?
-
Yea that's max (mines got 45x4 RMS ) LOL but I do have the KTP power pack lol
There's this wire that loops and takes the bass out of the current or whatever my friend showed it to me like a year ago that should rid the small speaker of bass
Or if you plug it into the existing wires it shouldn't play low freq right? mine don't and they are stock... (but i do have a high pass set to 80hz on the HU)
i have a build in high pass on the radio that i would use but i have it off right now because i have only speakers going from amp and they are set to 125 HPF so if i set the radio to 125 that would take the bass out of the fronts so i should be ok ... this is going to be my first fiber glassing project or how ever i would do this
-
doubt your head unit is pushing 50 watts rms.....lucky to get 18 - 20 rms. you should be fine. just keep the bass out of them!
box on radio said 50x4 thats prolly max power tho
-
guess for now im going to stick with the 2 10s maybe when i get more money i can do a full build and make the 10s for midbass and get 2 12s later on idk
-
Maybe add a third 10 and port them all, unless you really know what your doing I dont know if it would sound right to have 3 subs off the same power and have one ported and 2 sealed.
well i could do that but my car is a 1992 mercury Capri .. look it up ... TINY TINY TINY and i would port the 10s but i am tight on space with 2 .58 Cu/Ft chambers and RF recommends 1.5 Cu/Ft ported so i don't have the room for that. what would be a good way to get some lows ???
could i possibly run a 4channel amp the sealed of 2 channels and the one ported off 2 channels ?? so they could both have there own X-over and gain control ?
-
i built the box and i did not want a ported box because i had both a ported and sealed on them and i liked the sealed ... i made the box myself... i have the 10s and 6x9 all in one in the back seat does not have room to make a ported box for the 10s they recommend 1.5 CU/f ported .58 sealed ... my trunk has 2 levels that i made when i took the spare out and i would have room for a 12 in the bottom of trunk where batteries are that is why i want to put a 12 there because no room for the 2 10s in a ported box. and sealed box means not the best for lows so a 12 would compensate
Note: I do not buy prefabbed shit when i can spend half that to make one thats better :-)
-
ok so right now i have 2 10" P1s in a sealed box and i want to add a single 12" ported P1 to get a little bit lower because the sealed 10s hit REALLY good but not the real lows ... what would be a good amp to run them and would a ported 12 hit good lows ??

i was looking at these kicker ds350 that are rated 15 watt RMS 30 watt max going to put them at the bottom of the A pillar ... i have a pioneer HU thta pushes 50wattsx4 is that a good speaker ? and could i just hook that up to the HU and it would be loud ?

i look at it this way .... i have a convertable with nice sound system ... my doors are always unlocked .... why ?? if someone wants it they are going to get it .... you have to open my door to get the stuff out its a small two door ... ill let them open the door and take the stuff ... better them take it and me replace it then they take it and i replace the speakers AND a soft top .... no matter what you do if someone wants your stuff ..... they will take it plane and simple ...
-
the grab it only works in a reversed motion ... so if you did go with that idea every time you took them out you would have to put new screws in and strip them. i would just get some of those security screws you see on bathroom stalls .... star bit with a nipple in the center so you have to get a special bit and no other bit will work and the niple in the center prevents form using a staight head on the star ... thats what i use on my stuff
or any type of secrity screw they make some funny bits out there

looking for a small speaker that sounds good and has decent frequency range with clarity. and im looking at small speakers and they are 30 watt 50 watt max handling ... how would i hook those up with out a big kaboom ???

Ok so im finally going to post up some puctures of my capri build and some older pics of where i started out from. Im 19 and a super poor college student and hope that i can get a build like some other members have but for now im happy with what i got.
It all started out with some speakers and amp that i got for free from my brother
then i got a bunch of plexiglass for free so i said let me try something out
terrible idea ... looked good but very dirty so scratch that.
WOOD !!!
looked alot better !!! i was VERY happy with it !!!!! then i got a capacitor and that helped alot :-))
helped alot but it was still a very shitty amp but it sounded good for the time being.

i do have my RCA's wound up .... i will straighten them out and see what happens ....hopefully it will help and im running rockford fosgate single twist RCA dont know there quality but i like rockford

i have a strong feeling is something to do with after the amp because when i unplug the RCAs the noise gets louder ... do i put all my grounds in one spot or in different spots ?

I have a Ford car and Rockford wire RCA amp subs nothing of mine is gm
-
try that and do you have the paint craped clean from all your ground (that was my problem)
all grounds are solid bare metal ... the signs are saying bad amp but its a new amp only 2 months old.... does rockford fosgate repair amps ?
-
What kind of rca's you running?
ground look isolator is at the amp and i am running Rockford fosgate single twist RCA's... im going to try and wrap all power wires in electrical tape and then the 3 rca's to maybe help reduce signal noise kind of running out of ideas
EDIT: ok when i unplugged the RCA's from the front channel the noise in the front is very loud with engine off only in accessory mode. the ground loop isolator i have is a fierce ground loop isolator and there are 2 brown wires coming from the box ... i have yet to figure out what they are for.
what is a really good 2.5 3 3.5 inch speaker
