do you know anywhere i can get the whole cluster my guages are messin up and i don't wanna spend the money to get them fixed when i could just buy a brand new one that's already modified
-
Anyone know a good decently priced site for new guage clusters? I need the exact cluster Steve has. Its an Escalade Style kit made by US Speedo.
-
Anyone know how to remove the two light housings for the dome lights above the dash?
-
echoing.. inside hte truck or as in pipe sounding hollow flowmasters have alot of in cab "drone"
to many people run flowmasters.. IMO
Its the actual muffler sound. And yeah I got it because of price and I didn't really know anything any other brand at the time.
-
uhhhhhh
popping is NOT from being true duals... its from a hole somewhere
what year is your truck?
ill be driving mine daily with no cats and racebullets with a 3500stall converter
what year is your truck?
do you have headers?
look at the pypes violators they have a nice sound at low rpm and sound sweet over 4000rpm
The popping is from having no cats I'm pretty sure cuz there is a lot less backpressure. But I also think the back pressure is whats causing the echoing. Either that or its just the Flowmasters. I'm thinkin about switching to Corsa.
-
Yeah that's basically how Flowmasters sound. I had one and it was the same way for my camaro. Magnaflow and Hooker are both nice sounding and cheaper though (I've owned both, along with flowmaster). Those should be around your price range, but Borla and Corsa are going to sound real nice but out of your budget. The truck a v6 or v8?
5.3 V8. Yeah I mean I wouldn't mind spendin the money on a Corsa or Borla I'm the type to pay for quality I just don't have a job so its hard.

Heres a vid of my 89 chevy with a dual in/out super 40

I will take and post a drive-by vid later today...
Sounds good bro.

Is your exhaust echoing or poping cause the poping is coming from it being true dual but you can drown some of that out if you use larger pipe.
Its echoing. I love the popping it sounds mean lol.
-
sounds like crap over 2500 becasue its flowmaster... EVERY flowmaster ive heard sounds like ass over 3000rms just sounds like air comming out of the muffler and not sound
EXACTLY. I just don't wanna spend $400 MORE on new mufflers but if I do I'm thinkin about Magnaflow. What you think?
-
Besides the exhaust, what else have you done to your vehicle and how is your timing and air/fuel mixture.
Exhaust is the only performance mod I've made. I plan on puttin long tube headers, intake, BBK throttle body, MSD ignition coils and wires, either NGK or Bosch plugs, Iraggi 330 alternator, Comp camshaft, and some kind of aftermarket intake manifold. Should be around $1000 give or take a couple hundred. Nothin big really I'm just broke at the moment ya know.
-
The cats shouldn't really make a difference in the sound level, the muffler job is to change the sound level or tone of your exhaust. I have build several vehicles with and without the cats on exhaust system and there was really barely any difference on the sound level.
Yeah the tone is fine really. I just want it to be smoother and not echo so bad above 2500rpms. The mufflers sound amazing until I'm driving and I hit 2500 then it sounds like a have an exhaust leak. Other than that one thing I've had the exhaust for about 9 months and I love it still.
-
I just got the Super 40s for my '85 Olds Delta 88 (5.0 engine) and now I think I want to take my cat off.
No cats sounds awesome I just want the tone to be smoother it echoes bad at about 2500rpms.
-
I have true dual exhaust with Flowmaster Super 40's and no catalytic converters. It sounds fine but it has bad backfire (probably from no cats of course) and when I get past about 2500 rpm's it sounds like its echo-ing real bad. I figured cats would fix this and make it sound a bit deeper but I DO NOT want to sacrifice loudness. Advice??

Try a 330ohm resistor, you can get them from Radio Shack for $1 for 5
So do you think the 470's were too big cuz the lights wouldn't even come on. I'm also using the rectangular LEDs because Radio Shack was out of the round ones which I'm used to.
-
So I should run it straight from the battery and through a small fuse? What about resistors? I bought the 470 ohm resistors and the LEDs won't even light up. I'm guessing its because the resistor is too big. Someone told me I should try a 140 ohm would that be too small?
-
How do you take apart the guage cluster? I got all the way down to the panel but it seems like the needles are stopping it from coming off. Do the needles pop out or somethin?
-
And is this a good idea? I ran the power wire for the LEDs off of my remote wire from my head unit. And the ground is coming straight from my battery. Is this good or should I run the power wire from the battery also? Or at least my fuse block for my amp?
-
What resistor should I use for a 3.2V LED???
-
@Team-Atomic-Andrew
Yeah that's what I thought too but I wired some into my friends truck and didn't use resistors and they work fine. But will the resistors from radio shack hold up to 12v good?
-
What is the best brand and voltage LED I can wire straight to 12v power? And where can I get them? Ones from RadioShack can't handle 12v.
-
Putty knife!!! And if you scratch or scuff up the plastic just wet sand it with some 600 and then prime it with some filler primer and then repeat the process until your satisfied.
-
Your best bet is to wet sand the shit out of it with some 3M brand 80grit and then with some 600. Then try http://urethanesupply.com/storecleaners.php its an assortment of plastic cleaners. Anything to do with plastics use urethane supply company they're the best. The Scuff Magic is an abrasive cleaner but it will probably remove a good portion of the paint too. Check it out bro.
-
Yeah I don't think they are but the ones I rigged up in my friend's truck weren't either and they work fine. I also tried wiring mine into the remote wire from my head unit I'll try wiring them straight to the battery or my fuse block for my amp.

I just bought some blue LED's to put in my air vents but Radio Shack was out of the typical round ones so I had to get some little rectangular ones and I wired one to test it before I ran all the wires and it wouldn't light up. I know your supposed to have a resistor on it but I wired some round LED's in my friend's Titan and they work fine. Any advice?
New Guage Cluster

Its mainly my speedometer it always sticks, don't flow smooth, and drops below zero. But now my oil pressure and my battery guage both dropped all the way down and stay there. And if I gotta buy a whole new cluster I might as well buy one I like instead of stock.
