  1. what do you mean? I used the PSP calculator for the lengths and if they are, I bought the whole kit which is up to 18" long so I can trim it down if needed
  2. Ur awesome JBINN!!! Went to Lowes and got my MDF. Since its just a rectangular prism box, not slants or anything, they cut all the boards to size with their amazing saw lol...there were a few edges that were a milimeter off here and there but nothing major, should dissapear after sanding and will be un-noticable after carpeting. I may start building this Sunday, just depends on my schedule but I'll definantly keep yall posted:) Thanks for all the help!
  3. if you could sketch the current specs(32"(w)x14"(h)x15"(d), 2 3"x10" flared ports in the middle[between woofers, like my sketch]) that would be sweet!
  4. from where Im at, it wont let me access it so if someone could imput the numbers, it would be SWEET! I know its alot to ask so if not, I completely understand.
  5. that would be awesome...im heading to lowes in about 1.5-2 hours so if you could do it before then, would be sweet!
  6. If anybody has a calculator that I can input the demensions, and it will tell me the length of sheets of boards I need to cut, that would be sweet...I already calculated them but some technical assurance would be nice lol
  7. So after some "couseling"(lol) I finally came up with a box design....box is for 2 JBL GT5-10s(svc 4 ohm, 275rms each) pushed by a Rockford Fosgate R500-1(537 rms at 2 ohms[subs wired parallel for 2 ohm resistance].) Box is 2.98 cubes(total) with 2 3"x10" flared ports, turned at about 34hz. Suggested airspace is 1.25 cubes per woofer so the extra .48(2.98-2.5) should make up for the displacement. Box will be made out of 3/4" MDF so Board sizes will be 2-32"x15"(top and bottom), 2-15"x12.5"(sides) and 2-30.5"x12.5"(front and back.) Do those measurements make sense? Thats my design, what do ya think?Again please review the board measurments and im open to any imput or tips for the build. Should be going to price MDF today at lowes. Heres the sketch...
  8. i thought it was measure once, cut 3 times and take 5 trips to Lowes? lol Thanks for the tip:)
  9. Correction, due to not having 3" of clearence for the port, I changed the demensions to 32"(w)x14"(h)x15"(d) with 2 3"x10" ports which would bring it to about 34 hz. and 2.97852 cubes(total)
  10. Awesome man, thanks! So heres my plan...The box's extenal demensions will be 32"x14"x14" made out of 3/4" MDF so internal volume will be about 2.76 cubes to account for some of the displacement. The box will have 2 3"x10" Flared ports in between the woofers and will be tuned aroun 35-37 hz.
  11. So overview...the 31.5" x 13.5" x 13.5" design is good, the two 3" ports in the middle are fine and the length of the ports, with connectors, tubing and flares included is 10". Ohh and which is better, rearfiring or upfiring? Sorry for the redundancy.
  12. So all i need to do is get two of THESE then trim it down 9.92 inches total? And as far as the firing...which would be better?
  13. and also 2 questions... when it says port length, is that from the very front to the very back or just the tube(between the flares) and which would be better the face of the subs firing toward the back (away from the front of the vehical) or up at the hatch glass?
  14. so the ports are good where theyre at? and I dont need to redesign for more airspace?
  15. So based on the JBL spec sheet, it is gross? So i should try to make the total volume 2.7? and also what you said about ports, is that a bad thing? should I move them?
  16. So I currently have a pre-fab ported box housing 2 JBL GT5-10s SVC 4 ohms (275 rms each) pushed by RF R500-1 amp(537 rms at 2 ohms[subs are wired parallel for 2 ohm impedence].) I originally wanted to build a box when I bought the subs and amp but do to lack of knowledge and tools, I went with a pre-fab. Now that I know more and have a buddy that has some box building experience and tools, I wanna give it a shot. Heres my plan. A 31.5"(w)x13.5"(l)x13.5"(h) (internal 30"x12"x12") box with two 3"x9.93" flared ports. Box would be about 37 hz. The recomended volume per woofer is 1.25 cubes so the 30"12"12" would give me 2.5(for 2 subs). What Im kinda stuck on is whether its 1.25 total(including displacement of port and woofer) or 1.25 plus displacement. Here(CLICK) is the Spec sheet, please tell me what you think(scroll down to ported/vented.) If it is 2.5(for both) including the displacement, then heres what I sketched up... So I guess what Im asking is 1. is the 1.25 including displacement or not and 2. does that design look good(as in correct)?
