ive got that amp...i love it!
-
he went ahead and ordered the one with the kenwood amp and hifonics 12s
-
cool, ill definantly do that....i also found this...i know its not the best setup but for what he wants, I think this'll work. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_28425_1200W+Complete+Kenwood+%2B+Hifonics+Bass+Package.html

his budget just got cut to $250
-
where would you suggest for an AQ amp?
-
You should really tell your friends, you know not much about car audio.
Whats his budget for sub/box/amp?
knowing the difference between rms and peak qualifies me lol....his budget is as low as possible...$306 is the numer to beat
-
Why use a sealed box?
because he wants more punchy, clear bass that hits at a wide range instead of a lower, more frequency specific ported box.
-
x2 just cause it says 2x300 doesnt mean it does it. stay with known proven product. if you dont see anyone using it then its safe to say its garbage. plus you pay for what you get
yea i figured id give it a little room for overrating, hence the 300 instead of 250

So my buddy wants to install some lows in his 2002 Celica GT. Since im considered the audio guru in our friend group, he came to me. He wants 2 10s and based on what he said he wants from his bass, 500-600 rms in a sealed box should be perfect, especially with his low budget. After doing some searching, I came up with this. 2 Alpine Type E SWE-1043 SVC 4 ohms(250 rms), a SoundStorm(SSL) EV.2.1600 2 Channel amp(300x2 rms at 4 ohms) and the Sonic Sub Box: 2SL10-1.5 (Gray Carpet) Dual 10" Sealed MDF Enclosure(1.5 cubes) which would come out to $306.83 shipped from sonic electronix. What do you guys think? Im not realling looking for suggestions on subs since he wants 2 10s around that price range so basically what im asking for is will this setup work decently?

frequency?

yea man its cool...theres a recording feature which records what you do as an mp3 so like I said I mix it live and record while im doing it and thats how i get my mp3:) its also super easy to slow and bass boost using it

ive been using Virtual DJ and just pre-setting my cues and doing it on the go
-
please let me know if my calculations are wrong
-
they can be as long as you want that doesnt change your port area for 2 10s being wrong
i used the PSP port calculator (http://psp-inc.com/tools.html) and with 2 3" flared ports, it said the length for 34hz(2.98 cubes) would 9.8" each....please correct me if my math is wrong

so im stuck on covering the box....I like the idea of carpetting but its very common and i definantly want this to look custom. I already bought fabric adhesive but I still have the reciept so I can take it back and exchange it for something. Im not opposed to painting it but ive heard MDF doesnt look good painted. Ive seen vynal coverings(like leather) but I'm not sure how I feel about those. Im leaning towards some sort of spray on covering like a paint or maybe a bedliner or primer or something. I just want it to look custom but I'm not apposed to carpeting. I just need some ideas....

Since ive got some extra MDF(tons of it), I think i'm going to build a baffle....just thought i'd keep yall updated

get a DSM!(late 80s to 99 eclipse:))

My box is almost identical to that one. Except mine is 4cu ft @ 33Hz. How does the port with the flange sound? I may have to do that with my box. Does it have any port noise?
i know youre probably not talkin to me but from the reviews ive read, theres minimal-none port noise

Thanx man ! This was also my first box, and i built it in just over 3 days in just my spare time, so if you gather the right materials it wont take long at all !! and the benefits of a custom made box, even with cheap subs, makes a huge difference !
GOOD LUCK !!!!
definantly bro! thx!
-
That looks alot like the box i built, but mine is for two 12's, 35hz, 4 cubes net
but i used 4 inch pvc ports with toilet flanges so i could screw them to my box instead of glue, so it would be easier to re-tune when i get new subs !
Yours looks like an awesome design ! GOOD LUCK !
your box looks SICK man! Thanks!

not to be a buzz kill but that port areas wrong amount other things
what do you mean? I used the PSP calculator for the lengths and if they are, I bought the whole kit which is up to 18" long so I can trim it down if needed
a lil kicker system i tossed together...pics!
