DAY 3
I was able to spandex off the top part. This time, i only used hot glue. It worked pretty well.
Then a-glassing I went.. This is 2 layers of weave.
And then this is 1 later of heavy matte.
While Stuff was drying I thought I'd make my connectors for my amp.
Clamped it down.
Filled in with sodder.
Hey Look.. The box was dry enough to trim up with my knife.
Sanded and cleaned up...
Test fit.. Need some more sanding to make it fit better at this point.
At this point, I tried whats known as a "milk shake". I use 4oz of rage body filler, 8 oz of Resin, and a shit load of catalistand dumped it inside the box tofill the edges, and then painted it on the front. I ended up doing 2 batches of it. It worked pretty well. Wish i took a picture of the 2nd layer of "milkshake".
Then sanded it down.
Then did some regular rage body filler, and sanded it down.
Painted the inside ring black, stuffed the shit out of it with poly fill, and ran my sub wire.
Laying the carpet.
Trimmed up and test fit.
And speaker mounted, and complete.
And then the jump seat cover over it loosely for the moment.
Over all this little box took me about 15 hours worth of work.
Hope you enjoyed the build.. let me know what you think. =)

DAY 2
I was able to trim things up a bit.
Test fit.
Jump seat cover on.
Glued down the speaker ring.
Test fit again.
Thought I'd try something different. I glued wooden dowls into place to anchor my spandex. Worked out ok I guess.
This the bottom first.
And soaked with resin

I've been lurking this site for years. learned a lot from a lot of builds.. massive thanks and big ups. I posted this on s10forum, but thought I'd share over here.
I've been glassing stuff for awhile so this isn't my first rodeo.. thought I would share instead of just lurk.
Small build.. stealth, nothing to make your fillings fall out.
DAY 1.
I decied to install a small stereo into this truck. Nothing fancy, just small and something to hear my tunes. I plan to run things off my phone.
I decided to install an 8" sub into the passenger Jump seat location of the back of my truck.
Here is what I am working with.
First things first.. Tape everything off with blue painters tape.
I usually make a mess so I lay some extra 3mill plastic mat down in case I spill.
Here is 3 layers of fiberglass weave.
Another shot..
While it was drying, I made my speaker rings.
Here is what it'll look like when they are glued together.
The glass is hard enough to pull out. It was a little tricky, but I got the mold to release via the blue painters tape.
And out of the truck..
Rough idea of where the sub will go.
I used a whole package of chopped matt via a suggestion from one of the forum members at one point. It was neat to work with.
It was not tacky anymore.. so I thought I'd test fit.. the fit was a little tight, because the glass sorta expanded or something. I think next time I'll leave it in the truck longer before I pull it out. But it still came out great. hard as a rock, and I didnt use a whole lot of weave this time.

Wow. Im only 4 minutes in and I plan on watching the whole thing. I wish I could do all that. Looks very confusing. Great work! you have talent

Are you a bot that's bumping any thread related to Boston Acoustics? -.-
nope.. im a real human. *waves..
and this is my setup..
-
i have nothing to add to this thread other then the fact that I ordered some stuff from these guys a few months ago, and they were awesome. above and beyond customer service. I can't remember who I spoke with on the phone, but very awesome to deal with. My stuff showed up in less then 3 days, boxed really well, and damage free. would totally buy from again.
-
I know this is an old topic, but I have 2 of them with the radiators and I really like them.
-
I agree completely with that. That's one of my top 3 all time CD's, just love every song on it, and never get tired of it. Works great on a nice system.
Exactly what I thought when I listened to that set you posted.
Noisia, Sub Focus, Muffler, Unknown Error, Spionor, Black Sum Empire, and Evol Intent are far from gay.. However.. i'll admit.. I came off all rough on this thread so I deserved it. =)

Check out my Music download thread. I'll be uploading some Dj Slimtim & Greddy for you

Since at Least 2003..HYF, Hella Yella Fellas, they did the Hot Import Nights car shows in Dallas, and New Orleans...In 04 I know. They had some awesome cd's..Man I miss that stuff..Glad I have all my old ones..I still jam them.
Weird.. I've been around for years now.. used to work a thursday night down over on congress for 18 months. Had well over 150+ local djs play and never heard of them. What were thier names/dj names?
-
Man I have so much Techo..Granted all my stuff is from a few yrs ago, Not to much current, cause my guys quit mixing but I have all kinds..Probably have more Techno than anything else...There were some dudes from Texas putting out serious beats a few yrs ago, HellaYellaFellas, HYF, think they were out of Austin, Texas. IMO put out some of the best beats ever..I have tons!
I'm from Austin, and I've been playing for almost 7 years and I've haven't heard of these dudes.. When were they around?

you'll always have folks that will hate you for one reason or another.
I don't post much, check my post count, but i come to the site every day. There are some builds I follow, some I really like, and some I don't. But I learn a lot of tips, tricks and how-tos that I use in my own rides, and rides I'm working on. You've got a very high traffic site with a lot of really great content. You've also build a platform that has allowed small vendors starting out a place to promote what they are selling. Case in point, I'm stuck trying to figure out if I want to use DC or SunDown in my next build. There are lots of members and lurkers who enjoy this site and they definitly out weight the folks giving you a hard time.
Its easy to focus on those few keyboard commandos, but the community that has been built here speaks for itself.
big ups and thanks for the site, the content, the vendors that are here, the videos, detailed pictures and videos. keep up the good work.
