ok so here you go my shitty video skills and all lol.

Hopefully his alt would be enough to keep the battery charge and voltage stable. When the voltage did start to drop, the cap would help keep the voltage stable at 15v. Caps discharge and recharge a lot faster than batteries. Like a 100x faster I think. With that constant voltage he should constantly be pulling more current to his amp. That's the best I can explain it.
I know where your coming from, but if he is sucking everything dry like that, he needs a bigger alt.
so in the end its best to probably get a new alt and battery to be safe then sorry

XS power D1400 in the stock location, and a voltage boost module for the stock alt. That would keep you in the 15 volt range, and would get you way more power from that amp.
were can i get a voltage boost module from?
-
I would change the stock battery first. Then if you still have voltage drop add the second battery. I would also lose the cap.
thanks, quick question though any reason to lose the cap? are they bad or something i am not much into car audio this is my first system. thanks
-
not sure on the exact number on voltage drop only meter i have is the one on the gauge cluster and it does not drop below 12 guess i should get and volt meter and something and get exact readings

Hey everyone got a question.
I have a 1996 gmc 1500 sierra
running 2 12in kicker l7 4 ohm
AQ2200D amp
3 Farad power cap
0 gauge wiring from battery to amp
all i have that i am using for battery power is the stock battery so my question is should i add another battery i have room under the hood to mount a battery on the driver side were a battery would be if it were a diesel truck.
If yes then any suggestion on what kind, size, power
thanks jake

sick box, wish my first box worked and looked like yours.. lol
Thanks yea i am glad it turned out nice and hope it will sound as good as it looks heh.
Another tip i know a lot of people have table saw which would be nice but im not that lucky so i used a circular saw. But the tip that made all the cuts straight was getting a straight edge like a 2x4 and measure from the blade to the edge of the plate on the bottom of the saw and then clamp you 2x4 down and then run the saw along that and the cuts are perfect every time. hope that helps it did for me.

should be installing the system 2mro i hope

Looks good man, I can't tell you how many aweful first boxes I've seen and that one is nice. If you haven't cut the hole don't bother with a terminal cup. Just get some ss bolts and use that.
thanks a lot and ill keep that in mind with the bolts

cool thanks for the help is that decent for these subs?
7.625 cubic feet total for the box
.6 cubic feet for vent displacement
so brings it down to 7 cubes about
31.3 hz tuning
thats what my buddie said it is.
-
i checked the tuning with torres as well, and if the dimensions are right it's tuned at 38.77 hz. FYI
cool thanks for the help is that decent for these subs?

Not sure on the tuning i had lot of people give me ideas friends and people on the site. Ill ask my buddy about the tuning if he knows about what it is.
Adding another battery help

Here is what I am working with to start off with.
1996 gmc sierra 1500 5.0
stock battery
alt is replacement its a 130 amp or so
system I have
2 12in kicker L7
AQ2200D
What I want to do is I have enough room up front for 2 batteries stock and another across from it.(dont have much room for a battery in the back)
My plan was to get a xs 3400 for the secondary battery. But I am now not sure if i can even run a AGM battery with my stock acid battery.(also Will be doing the big 3 soon as well)
So is that possible if not what should i do i really don't want to fork out the money for a alt right now keep that in mind so any options would be appreciated thanks.
