  1. alright, more stupid questions of the day... :-i was reading and saw that you are contemplating getting a second 360.2, what would be the difference if you did? why is your crossover still necessary if you put in the 360? i thought the 360.2 is a equalizer and crossover in one?? last thing is, i see that the 360 has L and R front and rear outputs, also a sub and center. Did you use a y-adapter to attach the sub, cause it only has one input??? ???

  2. passive would be when you send out a signal from your amp and you let your PASSIVE crossovers do all the work (like the ones that come with the seperates).  Full active means i have NO passive crossovers at all.  Everything is crossed over electronicly or "Active".  Its a four way "active" because i have it set up like this..80hz down      18's (bd1500's)90hz - 900hz  6 1/2's (bandpassed at crossover) (Punch 700)900hz - up     4's (Punch 200)3300hz - up   1's (Punch 200)also between 90 and 3000k it is bandpassed on the RF 360....i can draw you a diagram to explain it better if it doesnt make sense.  I know one thing my system sounds LOVELY right now!!  I love the RF 360.2!!!I

yeah, if you have the time, and don't mind, i would really appreciate a diagram so i could better understand, thanks!!! :)
  3. keep your eye on the for sale section, im almost 100% positive im sellin it.....along with the 6XS.  With this combo you can go 4 way active (like i am now).  It has the DDC to go with it (look in my tahoe pics to see what it looks like)

I have boxes, books, everything to go with the DQS and its a nice unit...ill let you know.

ok, these may be some stupid questions that i should probably already know, but what is the difference between passive and active crossovers? and when meade says "you can go 4 way active" what does that mean??? ???

hey kingsuv, i remember seeing a chart similar to the one above. if you don't mind me askin, where did you find that chart?  ??? thanks

  5. Dont you need a fuse on the power wire from the + on the battery to the alternator?

alot of people do, and Its probably the safer route.

I didnt in my van, but  I took extra care to make sure my wiring is safe and out of the way of moving parts.

If you were to fuse between the alt and the + battery. Is it better to fuse closer(within 10") to the + battery, or closer to the alternator ???

  6. Where can I buy some of this kitty hair, can you list some places where i can buy kitty hair.  Do you guys know if home depot carries it or places that sell it

You can usually find these products at local body shops. Some brand names are Dyna-glass, Duraglas, and Everglass. You also may be able to search and buy them on the internet, although there may be extra shipping charges if they are considered a hazardous material...
  7. Yeah, close. I don't know how to describe it that well in words but, lets say you want to weld a 90 degree steel joint... With welding you are actually melting the edges of the steel while adding steel to make a super strong joint. With soldering you are not melting anything but the solder that you will be using to join the wire to the terminal.. i hope i explained it well ;)

  8. How's it done differently than crimping?

Crimping is done with a crimping tool (like a plier), some people use vice's, vice grips, etc. You would basically be squeezing the wire to attach it to the terminal. Soldering is done with either a pencil torch, or a soldering iron/gun, and you use solder which maybe a combination of lead or iron (although many electrical solders are lead free) and kind of weld the wire to the terminal. thats the difference between the two.. :)

  9. when you compete and your serious about it, you will blow subs and other equipment for that matter, no matter what the brand.  On the daily, with a hard beating on 8 amps.......one modded bd1500.1 on each coil (.7ohms) they really slam.  I can go all day up to a certain volume level.  If i go too far up the volume i have been known to get them hot and yes, back off a notch if you smell them........just like ANY sub.  Its been a long time since ive had any trouble with my subs though and believe me i beat the hell out of my shit every single day at one point or another.  You do have to be carefull just like with any sub but i dont think its as bad as some people might say.

When it comes to being musical, again, just like any other sub or even SYSTEM configuration...your gonna have your songs that dont sound right and others that are out of control loud and CLEAN sounding.  Everytime ive ever redone my system or retuned a box, the lineup of stuff that sounds good changes so its no big deal.   I love the way my MT's sound.

To answer the spider question, i have triple spiders on mine, i imagine the extra spiders keep the sub from launching the sub out of the basket from all the power they can take....

    sounds good! thanks meade!!! ;D

  10. lol... i think that is funny, smelling them and then turning them down. anyway, what is the benefit of having stiffer spiders?

any other subs that you know of that could match the output of an MT, but is not affected by overheating? preferably and 18" of some sort.. maybe solo x, apx, etc....

  11. thanks for the replies... i would be using it daily, but how does meade, as well as others get away with it as a daily system? I know that people also say that they are not musical, but from seeing meades system as well as others at shows, they seem to be more than able to play musically..

what's the deal with the spiders, some people have triple or quad thick, what's the difference ???

  12. I was thinkin of getting a re MT, but i have heard that people have been having problems with over heating, due to the fact that the backplate isn't vented. Have any of you had any overheating issues with the mt's?

i know since the sale of re to us amps, the prices have gone sky high. anyone recommend a dealer or have any hookups with some decent prices? i was lookin into an 18 or 15? ???
